There was apparently only one server working, and it took 17 minutes for her to take our order. The food was okay. The fish and chips were crinkle fries with fish that was as much breading as fish. We got the last open table on a rainy Monday at 10am and had an interesting table where we sat side-by-side like a drive-in movie. We were greeted promptly and refills came frequently. My girlfriend and I showed up at 11:45am and were told things had switched to the lunch menu - came in the next day at 10:59am and were just barely graced with the privilege of being "the LAST customers allowed to order breakfast". We then sat and watched as group after group of people left disappointed when they were told it was now lunch. After that the cafe went from bustling with patrons to practically dead. This is pretty baffling to me, since it's obvious no one comes to Waves for the quesadilla. Why they wouldn't serve breakfast all day, or at least until noon, is beyond me. Regardless, the food is pretty solid, and the restaurant itself has a charming atmosphere. My recommendation would be to at least try the eggs Benedict with hash, if you can get here early enough to snag it. read more

Came for breakfast with 6 people and we were put in the cutest little window booth- so cozy! Being as it was during covid times, I was nervous about eating inside but they really spaced everyone out with really only the four corners of the restaurant being occupied. For this reason it seemed like there was a wait to eat but we, thankfully, came at the right time and were seated right away. Our food did take a little time to come out but I assume they have a lot of takeout orders, especially since it was the weekend. I ordered the huevos rancheros which were so good I couldn't stop eating!! I ordered a blueberry pancake because I wanted to compare with the one I had at Blue Moon the day before but, alas, it came out as just a plain pancake so I can't comment on whose is better! No. We were there in the middle of the week, slightly off-season, and 30 minutes before closing. It definitely has a *tight* feeling. I think some reviewers used *cozy*. We stopped in Waves for breakfast when we stayed overnight during a trip to Machias. This was a cute little place with a lot of coastal charm. The menu was larger than expected with a great variety. I got the stuffed blueberry French toast with maple syrup and it did not disappoint. It was not overly sweet like some stuffed French toast meals. It came with potatoes and bacon. The potatoes were good but the bacon a bit too crisp for me. My mother got the banana split which was a banana topped with yogurt and fresh fruit and glazed with vanilla Creme brûlée granola. She said it was really good. The service was quick and friendly. It is definitely a place we would come to again when in the area. Thanks for a great experience. read more

They fill an entire plate, and the Maine blueberries are generously served if you opt to include them. The Waves Bennie's with ham was just as good. Went for breakfast in mid-September after the busy season, so we were able to get a seat right away. After placing our order, we waited over half an hour. Everyone else was either served or finished their meals. When we first arrived the waiters were busy going back and forth to the kitchen bringing out meals, but after a while there were no new orders coming out of the kitchen. Our waiter kept telling us he was working on it to get our meals. The last straw was when a couple had come in long after us and was served before us. At that point we walked out without having been served our meal. It doesn't seem like too much of an effort to prepare eggs, French toast and pancakes, but for whatever reason the kitchen staff was unable to prepare our meals in a timely manner. read more

I had it in an omelette and have orderd it on the side with a breakfast sandwich. It is super good. They have sweet as well as savory French toast. I haven't yet had it but it sounds amazing. French toast stuffed with meat and cheese. Yum! My son is a chef and didn't enjoy the pancakes. They state buttermilk but taste and feel didn't agree. He is a pancake snob as they are his favorite breakfast food and he gets them all over the place. They also serve alcohol. They have quite large mimosas. I love a mimosa and these meet my requirements. Large, tasty, and reasonably priced. If your looking for some breakfast hit them up. Covid review with indoor dining. Although it took a while to get our breakfast, the food came hot and fresh and was supremely well made. We came here many times in its prior incarnation as the Ebb Tide, but frankly it's even cleaner and more up-to-date now, even though it still maintains its charm with the original wooden tables. The food was absolutely perfect, with huge pancakes full of local blueberries; a high and fluffy three egg omelet; richly flavored sausage; hot and crisp home fries; fresh fried eggs; and a fluffy biscuit. Don't let the cheesy storefront fool you. The interior hasn't been updated in forever, but who cares when the food is THIS freaking good. We arrived at 11am to nearly cry when they had no more Benedict's. But they still let us order breakfast so we managed. The blueberry cream cheese French toast did not disappoint. This restaurant is where the old Ebb Tide used to be. They just opened in late May 2015. We decided to give it a try for breakfast and we were impressed. A good selection. My wife loved the breakfast banana split which was fruit yogurt and banana. I enjoyed the stuffed French toast. There was a good selection for kids including chocolate chip pancakes (but no Belgian Waffles) I tried the Cinnamon roll. It was good and it was frosted, but if I had to choose Andrews was better. Tried this place based on the yelp reviews and they do not match my experience. Overall average food on a touristy street. Would like to rate 2-1/2 stars but rounded up to 3. There are better options a few blocks off the main drag. We had the blueberry stuffed french toast which was very good and worth getting, but if you want real maple syrup it's $3 extra. The filling wasn't overly sweet and the French toast had good flavor, texture and cooked properly. Now for the rest. The home fries are not - they are square shaped deep fried French fries. Bacon is also deep fried - first I've see this in a diner - meaty, on the salty side and overly crisp since deep fried. Over easy Eggs just basic eggs but cooked properly. The toast was toasted and then grilled - too greasy for me. The veggie mishmash would have been good if they didn't deep fry the potatoes. The mushroom, spinach and onions were griddle cooked and tasted very good - but tossing them on top of crispy potato fries ruined it. Coffee was very mediocre, but did have a small teapot for the tea drinkers. read more
