I contacted Giroux Electric to investigate reported issues with bathroom exhaust fans and light…read morefixtures. Scheduling was easy, and everyone was friendly initially. The diagnostic visit cost $160, and I was told one of the bathroom fans needed to be replaced. I agreed to the replacement, which cost about $850. I assumed that for nearly $1,000 the installation would be complete and leave the area finished. Unfortunately, I was notified that the new fan was not vented outside, and because the replacement fan was a different size and shape than the original, it left a significant opening in the ceiling that required additional patching and repair work on my end. I understand that replacement fans don't always match the size of existing units, but I was surprised that the job was considered complete with such noticeable unfinished work remaining. When I asked the technician about it, the response felt frustrated and dismissive, which further reduced my confidence in the service. The staff was pleasant for the most part, and scheduling was straightforward, but I was not prepared for the extra work and expense required after what I thought would be a complete fan installation. For that reason, I don't think I'll be using Giroux Electric again.

He was able to come out by noon the *same day*, which I really appreciated. He quickly identified the problem and explained clearly what had caused the issue. He didn't just replace the switch -- he re-wired it in a much safer way to make sure I wouldn't have any more problems down the line. I felt confident in the work because he took the time to walk me through everything and answer my questions. He worked efficiently, was professional, and his pricing was very fair. It's hard to find someone reliable who responds that quickly on a weekend. I would absolutely call him again and highly recommend him to anyone needing electrical work!

I called in Thursday after a number of recommended electricians failed to call me back. The receptionist was very friendly and listened to my problem. I'm not electricity savvy and I appreciate not feeling like I knew nothing, even though I knew nothing. She was upfront and honest about the pricing, which is $79 an hour with a 2 hour minimum. The gentleman (Lou) came out and was very thorough and explained what he was doing and what I was looking at. It was very helpful and he was very friendly. He also gave me a call 30 minutes before arrival, which was great in planning around my work lunch. I definitely recommend them.

The first to respond was Mike from Cyr Electric who came to view the attic the next day. He was professional, polite, and took his time viewing the problem and provided solutions. As I mentioned, I met with five who provided more or less the same solution with varying degrees of engagement. One contractor never showed while another provided their estimate more than a week after their visit and only after I reached out numerous times. I ended up selecting Cyr Electric for their timeliness and value as they worked within my budget. They started the work on time and completed phase 1 on one day. I can't wait for the Cyr team to come back and finish the job. I will provide an update at that time. But if you need an electrician, there's no need to wait for my update, trust that they will get the job done

We should have asked up front about his rates, but other services have offered it up front before agreeing to come out, and we got complacent and ended up with a $400+ bill for 'weekend' rates. It just like it was a surprisingly high bill that jumped out at us after he did the work. That's on us I suppose, just be prepared to spend money, and don't hire on the weekends or after 4PM if you have the time to do so, in order to save some money. Can't really speak to the quality of work, since what he did was fairly simple, though his expertise did confirm that a replacement was needed.
