Connected through an app for finding contractors, to replace a faulty smoke/carbon monoxide detector. We should have asked up front about his rates, but other services have offered it up front before agreeing to come out, and we got complacent and ended up with a $400+ bill for 'weekend' rates. It just like it was a surprisingly high bill that jumped out at us after he did the work. That's on us I suppose, just be prepared to spend money, and don't hire on the weekends or after 4PM if you have the time to do so, in order to save some money. To be fair, I can't rate his quality of work and I felt like 1 star is too harsh. Assuming his work is of good quality, I'll only knock two stars for scheduling and inconvenience alone. Initially, he reached out pretty quickly when I requested a quote via Yelp. I then explained to him what I needed to get done over the phone. He was very nice over the phone and offered to schedule a visit to get me a pricing quote. We confirmed on a date and time. Then on the day before his scheduled visit; I reached out via text message to confirm date and time again. I didn't hear back and then got ghosted. I tried to calling, texting and messaging via Yelp to reschedule but no luck. After two weeks, I tried to get another quote via Yelp. Again Matt reached out very quickly and asked that I send him a text message. Because I didn't learn from the first time, I got ghosted again. read more

Hired him to do some work on my kitchen remodel. Last payment was contingent on the work passing inspection. He told me needed an advance on the last payment to help pay for his wife's surgery. I debated sending the last payment since he'd been extremely difficult to get out to finish the work in the first place. I ended up making the wrong choice. I sent the payment and it's been over a year of trying to get him to come back for the inspection. Every 5-10 reach outs I get one "next week" response. A+++ Matthew was one of the only electricians recommended on Yelp who actually responded to my Yelp request to put in the necessary electrical cable and outlets for a washer/dryer. He did so promptly, courteously, and was very responsive in identifying a mutually agreeable time to do the work. His price was very reasonable. Of course, this project necessitated cutting some holes in my ceiling to thread the electrical cables from the electrical box to the location for the washer/dryer. Matthew was kind enough to provide me with contact info for a local contractor who subsequently came and filled in the holes and contact info for a plumber for the necessary water hookups. Matthew was first rate from start to finish - worked quickly, efficiently, cleaned up after himself and was very pleasant to work with. I highly recommend Matthew if you have any electrical work. He told me his price first hour, hour after that, but later he told me he charged me the cost from his home to my place on top of his first hour, it turned up replacing a timer cost me almost $500(he went to home depot to buy a new timer, told me "I buy from my acc that has 25% interest and that I have to mark it up, on top of the hour I paid for his trip to homedepot). Another place I saw he quoted a customer for $1000 and another electrician fixed for $85. So be careful when you deal with such electrician, have price estimation, sign contract first before you let them work/charge you hours, otherwise cost is surprise. read more

Matthew came out and installed 2 external outlets from my house, one had to go through a concrete wall and another for my garage. Additionally, I was looking to install a heater for my garage and he had a better idea than I did and even saved me money in the process. He ended up installing a 4000w dual heater that was mounted flush into the wall. All of his work is exceptionally clean and he did it in one visit. On top of everything, he is a really nice guy, wore a mask, and was extremely professional, respectful and the price was fair. We bought our house in Quincy last summer and have hired Matt for all of our electrical work since then. He is a clear expert, gives us good and creative advice on all projects, selects the best products, and is a meticulous and hard worker. Matthew did excellent work for me, and did it the next day! Communication was good and he was prompt (early, actually) and courteous. His strength was a great help when a lot of furniture, including a piano, needed to be moved. The work involved squeezing into very tight spaces because the room was crowded from the painting work I'm doing, but he was totally cheerful about it. The work was checking and replacing old outlets, and Matthew explained exactly what was going on and what he was going to do. I thought his fee was very reasonable, given the time he spent here and the heavy manual labor! One small note: he is not vaccinated for Covid for personal reasons, so if that is a problem for you, ask if someone else can do the work. read more

I rarely write a review, but in this case I feel it's a must. We have had some damage to our power lines from a tree that fell on our house, so we were in desperate need of an electrician late in the afternoon. I contacted several electricians through yelp and Matthew was the only one that responded right away. He not only responded promptly, but he immediately jumped into action. After knowing that it was an emergency he to turned around and went straight to Home Depot to get some materials that we needed. He was very professional and knowledgeable, and stayed working up to 11 o'clock. He was not only very personable and efficient, but what really struck us was that he really cared and was willing to help us in a tight situation.
