I've used Philips Electric for 10+ different projects since moving into our house and every time has been a great experience

Excellent experience from start to finish. They responded quickly to my request and had a technician at my door within an hour. Cosmo was professional, communicative, and incredibly efficient. He was able to repair my existing fixture rather than replace it, and had everything taken care of in under an hour. He even helped me put away the ladder afterward! I would absolutely recommend this company and will definitely call them again for any future electrical needs. read more

I appreciate that Philip gave me a call to discuss the pros and cons of the method that I wanted the job to be approached in. Jeff was always on time, worked efficiently, and left work areas clean afterwards. Will work with again! read more

I had a small project installing four smoke detectors in my home that I initially started myself, but quickly realized I was a bit over my head. I found Philips Electric online and I'm really glad I did. They were able to come out the same day, and their communication about arrival time was exceptional. The installation was handled with professionalism from start to finish. The team was friendly, competent, and treated my home with care and respect. The price was fair, and I'm very happy with the service I received. I'll definitely be calling Philips Electric again if I need anything in the future. read more

Giving Philip and his colleague Jeff 5 stars. I kept tripping circuit breakers with my Portable Oil heaters. Philip called right away to scope problem, and Jeff came next a.m. Quickly scoped the electric pull 1200 V for heater on the 15 amp circuit was too much (80% is in trip zone), and we upgraded 3 outlets to 20 amp. They are now working great. He was quick, gave me all of the information, and was very professional, and cleaned up all of the areas to leave it seamless. I've had other handymen who are too 'familiar' or 'condescending', with me as a homeowner, not at all the case with Philips. He even lent a tool to help finish my kitty door. Would hire again. Professional, high quality, and gave extra information so I feel informed on the electrical pull and set-up for my home. read more

Called to schedule a visit regarding partial outages in my house. He gave advice over the phone to troubleshoot that wound up solving the problem without him even coming round! Tremendous. read more

Phillips Electric in Arlington was professional, on time, clean, and efficient. Phillips did an excellent job installing our outdoor backyard light. You wouldn't even know any work was done; Phillips Electric cleaned up after themselves. Phillips did an excellent job snaking the wire through the walls instead of taking the easy route with an external conduit. Phillips was also spot-on with their pricing from the quote. Highly recommend their work! read more

Philips was very quick to respond. I sent pictures to describe the job. We had a phone call to discuss the situation. We scheduled the job right then. The job schedule changed but Philip helped find a time that would work. His guys did a great job. Faster than the estimate and they cleaned up after themselves in a flash. I will definitely call them again. read more

I had a few small jobs which included light switches to be changed, the electricians from Philips were punctual, courteous and knowledgeable. They answered all my questions and explained the issues. I will definitely call on them again. read more

I've used Philips Electric twice and have been very happy with the quality of their work on both occasions. The first job was last year, where they replaced a couple of pendant lights over the kitchen peninsula, and the second job was a few days ago, where I had them replace a circuit breaker that was faulty and tripping intermittently. On both occasions they responded quickly with a competitive quote and were able to finish the work within a few days. I would highly recommend them. read more

Because things always go wonky on weekend nights, my appliance fried an outlet (sparks and all) at 7:30pm on a Sunday, and a breaker wouldn't reset. I took 5 minutes to panic, then set out to find someone (who wouldn't mind coming into the city) to come out on Monday to fix it (sparks made me think sooner was better than later). Sent out a few quote requests at 8pm Sunday night and Philip responded 10 minutes later (!!!) to say he might have availability Monday. Philip kept up steady communication throughout Monday morning to give me ETA on his crew. His guys came in even earlier than anticipated, were courteous and professional, answered all my idle-curiosity questions (of the 'what's that thingamajig?' variety), and were out within an hour, taking the trash with them (!). Granted, the situation wasn't as terribly dire as I thought (other than the trauma of 'Sparks! Dead electric things!'), but I appreciated the calm confidence of the crew: they knew what they were doing, they put me at ease, and they explained things as they went along, so I knew what was being done and why. Definitely reaching out to Philips Electric next time I need electric work done. read more

I highly recommend Philips Electric! I needed an electrician to install a smart thermostat and repair a couple of light fixtures. I checked out local electricians on Yelp. I had never needed an electrician before. Philips had all five star reviews. I called and left a message. They got back to me almost immediately. I was able to schedule an appointment in under two weeks. On the day of the job, the electrician arrived about 45 minutes early. It had snowed the night before. So when he came into my home, he put on covers for his work boots so that he would not track snow, water and salt into the house. He reviewed the documentation for the thermostat and was able to install the unit very quickly. He tested it to make sure that it worked and then he showed me how the unit worked - and how to change the batteries. I then showed him the problems that I had been having with my kitchen light fixture and the dining room light as well. These lights had been working (or really not working) intermittently for the past few years. He diagnosed the problems - one was a broken dimmer switch - the other was a problem with the light socket. He explained each repair so I knew what the problem was and how he planned to fix it. He got the job done quickly and efficiently. He cleaned up when he was done (I had offered to vacuum, but he insisted on doing it). He was polite, professional, and really awesome. I have some additional electrical projects that I want to get done outside when the weather gets warmer. I will definitely call Philips Electric. They are deserving of a five star review. read more

Phillips electric is a top-notch team. Extremely professional, clean, and most importantly skilled. We used Phillips for a kitchen remodel and it required extensive rewiring. The Phillips team handled the project with ease and kept us informed of the progress along the way. I needed an electrician to install a light and adjust some outlets. Phil and team came out promptly and did an outstanding job. While they were here, I asked them to do a few extra tasks like installing a microwave. They worked so efficiently that the total cost actually came in lower than I had expected. I'll definitely use them next time I need an electrician. read more

Philip replaced a ceiling fan for me yesterday. He is a very personable guy and he did an excellent job. He was very neat and cleaned up after he was finished. I called at 7:15am, and they were at my house at 8:50am. Friendly on phone. Upfront about hourly rate. Joe who came to my house had a mask, was courteous, and worked quickly. They solved my problem of a hidden bad wire. Very impressed. Definitely saving their info. read more

Philip and his employees were amazing!!!On time professional and super clean.Worth the money.

Philip returned my call within the hour to let me know he didn't work in my town of Winthrop. He then talked with me about my issue for about a quarter-hour and gave me some very good advice. Electricians work by the hour and I appreciate very much his time and expertise. Thanks Philip! read more

I called Philip for the first time after experiencing regular false alarms with the smokes in my home since 2016. He picked up my call and took the time for me to explain what was happening. The next day Jeff arrived at my house to install new smokes. All was fine for 3 weeks then another false alarm occurred and the fire dept was called. Conclusion reached was that my basement smokes were going off consistently the same day as my weekly automatic generator test ran. I called Philip again and Jeff arrived the next day to adjust the basement smokes as the fire dept suggested. Philip is very knowledgeable about smokes, was honest as to my options, and very professional. Jeff visited my house and I share the same opinion of him. Really grateful for both of their help to resolve my issue. Highly recommend! read more

We have a room that kept tripping its circuit breaker. After the breaker tripped three times in 30 minutes, I decided it was time to have someone take a closer look at it. Philips Electric came out and quickly, professionally, and courteously checked all the outlets and wiring in the room and replaced the breaker. And, beyond that, they even vacuumed the floor to clean up the dust from taking the outlets apart. Well worth the time and money. read more

I have to agree with all the other five-star recommendations. About a month ago Philip said he could probably get to my job at the end of August. After another job was finished early, he found time to get me in today. Jeff came in and discussed the work to do, made recommendations I hadn't considered for an improved or less expensive result. The job went amazingly (to me) quickly, and he brought up anything that he thought I should know. Points for coming early, saving money, doing a quick but thoroughly professional job, and for keeping me informed. Extra points for putting up with our barking terrier. [The job: replace six low-voltage halogen recessed lights with LEDs, install a porch light, and rewire a pair of three-way switches, er, somebody thought he could replace on his own.] read more

Good experience with Philips Electric - would definitely call on them again. We had an issue, during the covid crisis, where one of our light fixtures was flickering erratically, where we wondered if there was some sketchy wiring. They were able to quickly resolve the issue for us, and happy with their honesty and professionalism. read more

I hired Philip to install an electric car charger on the outside of the house. It's an old Somerville structure, so as you might imagine, it was much harder than it should have been. Philip was awesome. He solved all the technical challenges and delivered on time and on budget. He was also super friendly, accommodating and trustworthy. i was even able to go to work while he was there, knowing the house was in great hands. Can't recommend him highly enough!!! read more

Philip and his team were amazing. We needed a quick kitchen fan repair while we worked out a first floor rewiring and panel upgrade plan. They did an amazing job with both and provided high quality work for a fair price. They show up on time, provide updates along the way, kept the downtime to a minimum, were friendly and safe, and provided suggestions and recommendations to save us money and improve our home. They follow-up and showed up when we wanted a few updates after the work was done as we added some smart switches after the fact. They came in well within the range of their estimate and because they were under we were able to add a few bonus items we wanted. If you're looking for a smooth, hassle free, honest and professional electrical team, we couldn't recommend Philips Electric enough. read more

Quick, reply; professional work, excellent job and competitive price. Will definitely use again without hesitation.

Philips Electric did a great job on all fronts - showed up on time, were professional, cleaned up after themselves and most importantly did wonderful work. I had called another company to rewire most of a vacant apartment, but was surprised by their high estimate. They couldn't do it for a few weeks so I asked if the quote would change if I had to move in in the meantime. When they said no, I knew they were bidding based on some standard estimating book and not on real time and materials. Phillips did it on time and materials and came in over $1k lower when the job was done. I couldn't be happier. read more

phil is the man. he and his crew are professional, personable, reliable, and knowledgable. we hired phil for a small job a few years ago and ended up having the crew back to re-wire our whole condo. we knew after one ceiling fan install that phil is committed to doing jobs the RIGHT way, not just any way, the first time. the re-wiring project experience was painless. phil and the guys were quick, efficient, and cleaned up well after the job was complete. we've since gotten complements on the wiring from home inspectors a couple of times. since then, phil has followed up when we've had questions or problems. he stands by his work and shows up when he says he will, unlike other contractors we've experienced. if he weren't so busy, i'd invite phil over for some french toast. he and his guys are top notch. i'm thankful to have phil as "our guy" when it comes to electrical work. read more

Installation of new power outlets in two rooms. Replacing two dimmer switches. I am impressed by the quality of work and the quantity of work accomplished in two hours. I did not attempt to comparison shop on the pricing ($240 for the first hour, $180 for each additional hour, covering two people working together: Philip and a younger assistant who seemed similarly skilled). There was clearly attention to doing the work in a way that caused the least possible damage to existing drywall and cabinetry. Also attention to cleaning up any mess that was created. read more

As the others have said - Phillips Electric responded and performed in a totally professional and reliable manner.
