Like you, I found Adam Aloise while cruising Yelp to find an electrician for a project. I had never worked with one before, and was jus trying to figure things out at the time. Among others, Adam came by to quote a price for a 200A upgrade to my home, and some cable home runs. He quoted the most competitive price, and ultimately I gave him the job. While he was there, I had some heating problems, and expanded the job to install outlets to support space heaters. Initially we had a few problems where he could not show up, because he was finishing another job. That was frustrating at the time, but can be part of the nature of construction. Sure, I get it, technicians need to balance upcoming scheduling needs against unplanned hiccups at the current job, so after a few days Adam split off a few of his journeyman electricians to get started on the work. Once they got started though, the team was great. They had to notch and fish lines throughout my building. They spread drop cloths wherever they worked, cleaned up whatever messes they made, and finished the job on schedule. All of my house mates were pleased with how considerate they were as they did what can usually be very noisy and messy work. I have had enough experience with contractors by this point to know a good one when I see one. Adam is a really friendly, soft spoken kind of guy, but he and his team do excellent work. On top of that, they are the among the cleanest contractors I have gotten to work with. "Why only four stars if you like him so much, Jon?" That is a good question, and I will answer it right now. Aloise Electric does great work. They are friendly, competent, and helpful, but their responsiveness leaves a some things to be desired. That is fair: they are a small team, so they can only answer so many calls and emails each day in between managing the electrical needs in your home. However if you are willing to be patient and respectful of their time and their team, they will be patient, and respectful of you and your home. I think that that is a pretty fair deal. read more

My husband and I had a confirmed appt. Aloise made no attempt to call when they didn't show up. We tried calling. No answers. They must have blocked our phone because it went straight to voicemail after multiple attempts. I know because we used a different phone number that went through. No attempt by Aloise to explain no-show. No respect by anybody to pick up phone, although they have time to block callers. We called another electrician to handle our job that provided a much better quote than Aloise. Aloise is one of the unprofessional electricians out there. Be wary of their reviews. Others have had similar bad experiences. Don't cancel plans for Aloise. You'll be sitting and waiting for a no-show. read more

Around a year ago, Aloise Electric wired the lighting of our whole apartment. We were happy with their work, and I gave a good review back then. Because of our good experience with them before, I called again when our tenants had some issue with their light switches. However, whoever picked up my phone call the other day was extremely rude. I do not think he is one of the electricians themselves though. When I called, I first asked whether the electrician would be available for an emergency situation, and the flat rate/minimal charge for the job. Every customer would need to know these before deciding whether to go ahead choosing the company. Ignoring all my questions, the guy started asking me my name, my living address and etc, with the rudest attitude I have experienced in recent years. I do not want every single contractor I call just for a quote to have my name, address, phone number and email, unless I decide to work with them, especially when I have an emergency but simply answering these questions could take around 10 minutes and by the end of all these I may be told the electrician is not available or too expensive! Everyone's time is precious. I pointed out that he should first take the service location (our tenants' in MA) just to answer me whether the electrician can make it there within the day, rather than caring so much about where I live (not even in the same state). He replied, 'No, I need to know whom and where to charge.' At that point, there was no order, no deal, no appointment, what charge were you referring to? He eventually hung up on me! Basically, this low rating is not actually for the electricians, but trying to hire them would be just a waste time if you have this guy picking up your call. To be honest, we were totally shocked by how bad our experience was with this electrician. I really hate to write a negative review but feel like people should know about this. First, we had Adam come to our house for an estimate for a few different issues that needed repairs. He gave a pretty high estimate but since he had these high reviews, we thought it would all work out. On the day he was supposed to come over, he showed up over an hour late and couldn't be reached by phone. On top of that, he left a part at his house and left again to retrieve it. All said and done, we had 4 different issues and he only actually fixed 2-ish. When we asked if he planned on completing the job, he said we would have to pay more money. He tried to talk his way out of the situation by saying that his estimate included just "replacing," rather than "repairing." I literally had to say, "Sir, we obviously didn't hire an electrician to just replace a lightbulb when we can do that ourselves." He got pretty upset when we asked for some of our money back since we still had some pretty big electrical issues that need to be repaired. He ended up refunding a small amount back, but overall he was still getting quite a lot for only fixing half the original issues. In the end, we felt totally ripped off. It was so confusing considering the other reviews... Maybe he was having a rough few days or something, but it was certainly not professional. So I was searching for someone who could help me mount my TV up (without needing to hide the wires) and I found this company (run by Adam). Most companies I called charged me a fortune to just drill some holes. Adam's price was very reasonable -- he mounted a 46" TV and a Bike Rack for me. Initially I wasn't sure if he knew what he was doing but then I quickly realized that he's a professional at it (just he looks rather young and doesn't talk much so...). The mount I had was a cheap mount so it required several re adjusting. Adam didn't complain once, and kept adjusting until I was completely satisfied (even though it meant going back to square one and doing it all over again). When it came to putting up my Bike Rack, the package didn't come with a certain sort of bolt/screw. Adam didn't complain and drove to the nearest hardware store to get it. He got a ticket (because the meter expired) and he simply mentioned it in passing -- not once trying to make a big deal out of it / or trying to gain sympathy to perhaps then hope for a bigger tip. He gave me a quote over the phone, and that was the amount he expected, nothing more nothing less. I don't usually write reviews (cliche). After buying our home, I called in three of the top rated electricians serving the Medford area to give quotes. Aloise's quote was A THIRD of what the other two quoted - I actually almost went with another one because I was concerned at how low the price was. The other two wanted to replace a much larger portion of our electrical system, which Adam at Aloise assured me was not necessary. We were able to make an appointment for him and his crew to come in within a week. They actually arrived about twenty minutes earlier than they said they would, during which time they set up. The crew thoroughly explained everything they did, and why they didn't think some of the recommendations from other electricians was necessary at this time. Floyd was especially good about explaining how everything worked, and even gave some recommendations for other household projects I've been considering. I've been won over by their incredibly level headed advice, incredibly polite crew, and amazing cleanup - I inspected the work as they were leaving expecting to need to clean up, and everything was as clean, if not more clean, than when they arrived. Where do I begin with Aloise! Adam and his partner in crime (Damn it, I forget his name) were very professional and on time! I cannot begin to tell you how many contractors I have hired over the years and were never on time. Not Adam and his crew as they were very punctual. I hired Adam to wire and hang two TV's in my newly purchased condo in the South End of Boston. Again, finding a contractor to come into the City of Boston is a project in itself, so it was refreshing to not hear a contractor bitch about "finding parking" and happy to have work. Once they began the job, Adam explained everything they would be doing step by step. The previous owner had cable and wires in places I did not know wires and cable could fit! I had Adam install only one of the TVs (as I had not purchased the other) and he also mounted the wall mount for the other TV even though I did not have the TV at the time. After installing the TV on the wall he ran my cable through the wall and ceiling to the bedroom. Let me say, this is an old (built in 1870) brownstone when Comcast didn't exist. These guys encountered steel beams, brick, Jimmy Hofa, etc as they navigated the cable through the ceiling. Seriously, I do not know how they did it. It was a HUGE job so I thought. They acted like they did this every day. The finished product was wonderful. Four days later, Adam calls to ask if he could help install the other TV when I purchased it. I called him a few days later and asked him to replace light switches and wall outlets. Again, they were on time and very professional. Needless to say, I will be recommending Adam and his team to all of my friends. Most importantly, Adam was reasonably priced. I will be using Aloise Electric again. read more

I reached out to Aloise Electric from an online form on a Saturday afternoon. Adam returned my call and arrive on that following Tuesday to review the work. It was splitting a two family from a one box system to compliant two family with the both units up to code. He presented me with a price on Thursday and arrived for a final inspection two days later. At that time we walked the property to review every detail. Adam marked the walls with the appropriate locations for switches and plugs. During that time, we not only reviewed and detailed the work but I gave him a deposit. Prior to the meeting Adam had asked me for a deposit. Not knowing him, I brought two checks, each for half of the deposit. My thought was to give him half and leave the remainder for when he showed up to start. By this point in the project, my experience with other contractors was not good. Several minutes after meeting Adam, I went and got a new check for the deposit. I was sold. He was professional, well spoken and several times had made a commitment to call or arrive and he had. The next Wednesday, Adam arrived on time and the work began. I received daily updates and questions on items that required clarification. He completed all of the work on time and made the little changes that occurred when something didn't go as planned, like a hidden beam or extra outlet. I was more than happy with the work. Adam restored my faith that a contractor could be a decent person to do business with. I recommended him to a few people already. I would definitely use him again. Let me pick the outlets I wanted installed (USB chargers) and guarantied his work. The other electrician I had do an estimate was not at all interested in what I wanted done and quoted me for the easiest way to get a new outlet and not running the wires in the walls. I have used Aloise Electric for 4 years and am extremely happy with their services. They have installed ceiling fans, a number of light fixtures including tracks, and also done works on outlets and a bathroom fan. They respond immediately to a request for work - their estimates are reasonable and accurate, and they come when they say they will. Also, their work is very clean - meaning they bring drop cloths, are careful re: walls and floors, and they clean up when done. Floyd from Aloise Electric was just exceptional! He was punctual, friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We had him come by to address some minor problems around our new house, and each time he fixed an issue he asked if there was anything else he could look at while he was there (there are many....we tackled a few). He was careful and clean and tidy, placing drop clothes wherever he worked and very respectful of our household. He saw that we had young kids and was very conscious of noise levels and making sure multiple times that he wasn't interrupting any kids' naps. Adam and coworker Peter did an excellent job installing bathroom fans and setting up electrical wiring in two of my bathrooms. In fact, they did such a great job that I asked them to install new recessed ceiling lighting in my bedroom and living room. The estimate was fairly priced, and the work was done in the stated time frame. They worked in a professional manner, walked me through the steps of what they wanted to do beforehand, and then cleaned up when they were done. One of few contractors I use that will actually respond to email and look at photos of electrical boxes/work. He still needs to see the work in person to do actual estimates since there can always be any number of things wrong with a breaker box or wiring situation, but it's really helpful to get a ballpark idea. I've used Adam several times--I've used him in the office to add track lights for an art exhibition, switch out a receptacle/switch, and just recently to add an EV charging station. His prices are average to cheaper, but the quality is better than any electrician I've used (I have about five electricians on my rolodex). He had to put conduit around the long side of my house over to the short side, about a 50 foot run, and I can barely see it, and it terminates super cleanly out the side of a deck that goes over the corner of the driveway. He gets permits, nothing shady, by the book. My friend initially referred him to me, and I've been very happy with all my electrical issues since! read more
