Mike came for the first round to work with our contractor to discuss the needs of the new kitchen, including GFI updates, kitchen island outlets and pendants, new LED recessed overhead lights, and under cabinet lighting and floor heating. They also made recommendations based on new codes coming into play over the next couple of years so that we would be compliant. That kind of attention to detail was most welcome. John, the Master Electrician who came to the house later, easily guided two young apprentices over 2 days of full-on work. John was amazing, listening to my questions, assisting me in last minute decisions, and making certain the customer was happy. John was very insistent in making sure we were happy and pleased with their work. His knowledge and background was priceless while I worked through the list of my wants and needs, he was very patient too, as I asked endless questions. They put in long days and protected our home while working cleanly and efficiently. The part was backordered at the supplier, and he kept us apprised of the availability. The installation went well, and he made sure I understood how to use the interlock and why it was necessary. He also pointed out circuits I should turn off when running off generator power. We went with a 30A line which is enough for heater, water heater, refrigerator, and LED lighting in the house. * Add a microwave circuit for a new fixed microwave installation. To meet code we needed a new microwave circuit, and he figured out how to fish the line from the kitchen to the basement. The cuts in the drywall were minimal, and easy to patch and paint afterwards. * Made circuits meet code once we converted the dishwasher and garbage disposal to corded devices. This required bringing the bare wires together where two separate outlets were added to the under sink cabinet. He let us know that the inspector would likely require GFI breakers in the panel. We put that upgrade off, and indeed the inspector called us on it required Michael to come back and upgrade our panel breakers. * Replace a circuit in our kitchen counter peninsula. For whatever reason the existing circuit required going outside to reset the GFI whenever it tripped. Now the circuit is sane, and we just need to go down to the basement to reset the breaker. Took us years to find the socket outside, now it is very easy to reset with the new breaker. Throughout all these projects Michael kept us informed about what he would be doing. He made it clear what the project would cost, and approximately how long it would take. He made sure he kept the work areas clean, and consistently let us know when issues were occurring. I would definitely rely on Michael's services again for any future electrical work we would need.

In other words, I needed to solve my, uh...."lack of light" problem. I'm not too sure what the previous owners of my house were doing. But to say I've pretty much rebuilt this place from the ground up on the inside would be far from hyperbole. After replacing literally every major appliance imaginable (to include a new oven coming later this fall), I apparently saved the best for last. Two electrical annoyances were occurring in our house; the first of which was this vexing flickering of the kitchen ceiling light. The second, more ostensible deficiency was the basement lighting. See, the fluorescent lights would do this thing where turning them on would result in them remaining so for roughly 20 minutes before inexplicably going out. Usually, turning them off and turning them back on 15 minutes later would get them working again. Sometimes, if you waited long enough, they'd even re-illuminate on their own after an apparent cool off period. As you can probably guess, the upkeep of this house by its previous occupants was minimal, as if at all. So naturally, I send out my inquiries via Yelp describing this problem, then hire whoever responds to me the quickest (or at all). And wouldn't you know it? Along comes Mac Electric to save the day (not to mention my already failing vision). Within 10 minutes of arrival, they're almost immediately able to diagnose the dilemma: three failing lamp holders and some faulty connection in the kitchen ceiling light (I think). Shortly after presenting me with my replacement options, they were willing to head to the local Home Depot, purchase the parts, and repair everything within 90 minutes or so. Ultimately, the labor cost wasn't as steep as I originally feared. See, I just assumed electrical work was very expensive. But nah! This local business charges a fair price AND accepts tap-to-pay. And this is why I love supporting my fellow New Hampshirites! ^_^ Should I run into any future electrical anomalies, I will totally be giving these guys another ring. And with that, I'm giving Mac Electric 5 basements illuminated like a scoreboard on a baseball field out of 5.

Seth and his helper wired a 4 season sunroom, added a new panel to support that room plus some…read moreother outdoor wiring. The quote was good and they showed up when they said they would. Issue 1: Without asking anyone, Seth drilled through a brand new flat rubber (EPDM) roof to install conduit. My builder was onsite and after was not happy. Then he improperly installed the rubber cup (aka witches hat) to seal. This was outside exposed to rain and ice and obviously would have filled. I had to ask Seth to remove that conduit. Then asked my roofing contractor to come back and repair the roof properly. Issue 2: Seth left an open panel inside an unfinished area of the basement with 15' of wiring exiting the panel and laying on the floor. The wiring used to run my 240VAC irrigation pump. I had to remind him (see pic) about this the day before the final building inspection. He fixed it. Issue 3: Seth added the new outside panel, but never added the 240 VAC breakers for the pump! Seth says I asked to have the original line removed but did not want a new line to my pump...somehow. Did he ask? Does that make any sense? The pump saver is 12" from the panel. Today I asked Seth about the missing 240VAC circuit. Seth "is too busy". This last bit is why I am writing a review today. Root cause: Making assumptions without asking.
