Someone returned the call pretty quickly and asked if next day was okay and was told in the afternoon and gave an hour window. Loved this! (Most places give you a four hour window) The tech was kind, efficient (found the problem quickly) and cleaned up after the repairs were done. We had a great experience with this company. From our initial communication with John, the owner, to the excellent service from Matt and Zach, we highly recommend Kinney Electrical Services. We'd tried to replace a kitchen light switch and caused a spark in the circuit breaker box, leaving us with darkness in two rooms. John correctly estimated the work could be done and a sink garbage disposal checked within an hour. Another company had quoted a "test" for the same hour, and estimated the work might require a second day. Matt and Zach arrived exactly on time, systematically checked the switch and the circuit breaker box, diagnosed the problems, quickly made adjustments, replaced the kitchen ceiling light and made adjustments to the disposal connections and switch. Their efforts helped return order and function to our kitchen and adjoining room (the circuit breaker spark had also shut down electricity to my work from home space). They responded to the request promptly, showed up on time, determined that the fix was the fixture itself rather than the switch, replaced it, and everything was great. John and his people are fantastic! Earlier this year, I found myself back in my mother's home in Massachusetts, managing her life while she recovered from a broken leg. One of the "issues" I discovered was frayed wiring where the electrical lines connect to the house--and water leaking into her indoor electrical panel. Turns out she was at least a few decades overdue in replacing that wiring. We hired Kinney Electric to complete a "200 amp upgrade." Their price was very competitive. I had two non-working GFCI outlets (that I knew of) that I wanted fixed. Matt turned up at the appointed time with a second electrician. They were professional and systematic in diagnosing the problems, and eventually found more failed GFCI outlets and some other minor wiring problems. They replaced two GFCI outlets, corrected some minor wiring errors, and will send me a quote for a different problem that will require running a separate cable. Both electricians listened to what I had to say, were professional and knowledgeable, and couldn't have been more pleasant to deal with. They were happy to explain in detail what they were doing and discuss options. I'm a few courses short of a EE degree so I'm confident everything they said was accurate and fair. Their hourly rate for 2 people was less than the rate from another well-reviewed company for a single electrician. Overall I'm very happy with their work and I'd definitely call them again for any electrical work I might have. read more

Kinney Electric was responsive to my request for a quote to do a swap out of receptacles and switches for color change as well as install new LED fixtures that I had bought. They were even responsive when we realized one of the receptacles was loose and they came back to fix it! Just a great experience working with them. I had an issue with one of my hanging kitchen pendant lights. The manufacturer sent me a replacement light but it was not a straightforward install. The device was hard-wired and it required cutting a length of power cable. They responded quickly with a reasonable quote and got the job done in 1.5 hours. During the install, Ilya noticed that the replacement wire was a different color than the original and went the extra step to Sharpie the other one black to match. This showed an above and beyond customer focus and I really appreciated it. Book these folks without hesitation! read more

My experience with this company was not good at all. I needed electrician help for a time-sensitive project. I have called Kinney Electric well in advance, scheduled an appointment with them at least ten days ahead, and confirmed this appointment by email with their office later. At the time of appointment, they simply did not show up; no advance notice. Instead, they sent me an email casually suggesting rescheduling the appointment in two weeks, and when I informed them that this would not work for me, they just never responded. There was a quick response to my initial call to when and in-home estimate was done with safety measures taken. Work began pretty quickly. Kinney Electric was super responsive when we contacted them in the fall of 2023. They sent out two employees who walked the property with me took extensive photographs of the house including the electrical panel and the wiring in the basement. We didn't receive a quote so I contacted them in January 2024 2-3 months after they came for the walkthrough. I was told that the quote had been overlooked and that John would get back to me. When I didn't hear back in about 10 days I contacted them again. Finally received an email from John saying that since we had knob and tune wiring (we don't) they would need to come out and do a knob and tube inspection. After I replied that we don't have knob and tube wiring and that he must be looking at the wrong photos we never heard from him again! So zero stars but apparently I have to give them 1 star to post this. I was surprised by our experience based on the other Yelp reviews and our initial interactions. read more

They have a sweet secretary, Jenny, that sets up the quote appointments and the work you schedule. John, the owner, has experience and knows what he's doing and what needs to be done and he will break it down for you. The pricing is fair and they stuck to their word about getting the job done and done well. He responds to any and all emails/phone calls so that you understand what's happening at all times. You are in the best hands with his company. My jobs were done by Matt and Mike. They hardwired my entire OLD 3 story home + installed smoke alarms as well as wired my kitchen. These guys are gentlemen soo professional and soo kind. You'd be happy to have them working in your home. They show up ready to work and they know what they are doing! I had a wall taken down due to water damage. I needed the electrical outlets and switches checked and brought up to code. (Now that the wall was down.) Kinney did excellent work getting it ready for reconstruction. They followed "measure twice, cut once" in figuring out where the outlets had to go.
