We had our alarm inspected in March, right before everything shut down for Covid. Unfortunately some of our alarms weren't working. They weren't able to come back until late May, but when they did the gentleman was very thorough with the testing and fixes he had to do. Ultimately, he was able to help save us almost 1k as well. I used Markarian Electric to inspect my home as part of an energy audit and subsequently have electrical work performed. Initially I was interested in taking advantage of the state's MassSave energy efficiency program and component to that I required a licensed electrical contractor to inspect several parts of my home. I called Markarian Electric and was able to set up an appointment with Eric who came by in short order (a couple of days). I found him to be thorough, explanatory and overall highly professional. In addition to an inspection he and I were able to develop a list of potential work orders which I found useful if in the future I decided to pursue supplementary work or upgrades. Subsequent to that I set up an appointment with Markarian to perform several upgrades in my home. I found the team that arrived to, again, be friendly and professional and they completed the work scope on time and with minimal interruption or nuisance. Additionally, I was able to visit Markarian's Watertown office where the staff were able to clear up all questions or concerns I might have had. In the spirit of even-handedness I would like to capture some feedback that I think prevents me from giving them a five-star review. We did have some communication issues which delayed the start of work but it never became untenable. Additionally, while the team that performed upgrades were capable I wish they would've taken the time to walk me through the completion of their work more fully. Finally, I found Markarian to be a bit more expensive than contractors I've used in the past. Overall I'd recommend Markarian Electric and use their services in the future. read more

Had a good experience the first time around. We lived in a condo and they installed some recessed lighting for around $1,200 and it came out great. Fast forward to a new home we moved to and they charged us $650 to change a few wall switches and wanted $500 to move an outlet 4ft above its original location. Had another electrician do it for $125. Good work, but much better prices await you elsewhere for the same quality work. read more

Markarian is very professional and communicative. They give written estimates, and while they ask for payment in advance, I like their fixed price model. They are very responsive (I have never waited more that 2 days for an appointment) and show up on time. The electricians were courteous and considerate. If I see a shortfall, it is the level of expertise they bring. I had my main electric panel replaced - it took 3 visits because they did not assess the job properly. Eric and company are incredibly easy to deal with and tech-savvy. I found them to be responsive when I scheduled appointments, and they send out texts when they are on their way, which means you aren't put in the "Comcast Zone" of having to stay at home all day waiting. And you ask -- they have may good manners, but how is their work? Excellent. I had several companies come to our home to give estimates for installing a bathroom fan. Our bathroom layout was weird, and other people I called in the past looked at the bathroom and said they couldn't do anything and we were doomed to moldy walls and lingering odors for the rest of our lives. (Well, they didn't say we were doomed, but they may as well have.) But Eric said his guys could do it, and lo and behold, they did. He warned us that it would take time and that it would be expensive, but based on estimates I had for work by other electricians, the cost was actually reasonable. I recommend them, especially for jobs that leave other people stumped. read more

Easy to work with and schedule. Quality work delivered in a timely fashion. Friendly technician and clean worksite. The time to get an appointment for a non emergency item was very reasonable. They were also reliable....said I would receive a notification when en route and I did. They were on time and reliable. The downside (maybe upside sometimes) is that they charge by the job. For a small job, you may end up paying substantially more than an hourly rate. The estimate is your cost no matter how long it actually takes for them to do the job. No flexibility on price after it is agreed on. For a large job, I am sure that there is scale to be had in the event of then running into complexity on the way. You know what your max is. For a small job, you are locked in even if the job runs quicker than expected. In summary....easy to schedule, quality work, there are more cost effective alternatives if that is what you need. read more

This company is terrible. We moved into a new condo and this was the company that the developer used for sprinkler alarm service (presumably because they had some relationship or gave him a good installation price). Over 3 years of service I was never able to get someone on the phone to answer questions. Finally, after a significant billing mistake where they claimed we had not paid our annual bill from 2 years ago even though we had, I managed to speak with someone. She was a college student who for her summer internship was handling all of Markarian's billing and could barely use the software (not her fault). At that point I told her we would be canceling our account with them and a week or two later I finally got a call back from the owner trying to convince us to stay. After that call, despite his promises I have not been able to reach him again and we have not been refunded the $500 we are owed for prepaid service. On top of all that, I just received a bill from them saying we owe $1400 for this coming year, despite the fact that we cancelled our service and removed the boxes months ago. DO NOT USE THEM! read more

These guys were nice enough, but gave a very high estimate. That I can pass on, but they actually did not even deliver the estimate when they said they would, a number of days late in fact and not without significant prodding. Then to make matters worse after they delivered the estimate they dropped off the earth and would not respond to phone or email to discuss or schedule. I was referred by a friend so was actually waiting on them to do the job and I ended up waiting a LONG time and making endless attempts to contact, which, how stupid of me to think that they would actually respond to a potential customer?! In the end I found someone else who quoted and did the job for about 1/4 of the insane price they quoted AND actually responded and showed up. If you consider probably 3 days work too small of a job then maybe ti was too small for them, but then maybe they should not be bidding on such jobs, and presenting themselves as operating an actual business. After their estimate I never did ever hear from them again although I tried repeatedly. Given that I never had the chance to let them know if I was an idiot or not I can only blame this on them being highly and annoyingly unprofessional and making me wait weeks. If you want to be overcharged and/or wait in futility for an imaginary electrician, hire this company. read more

I've used Markarian Electric a few times now and they are always prompt, reliable and their prices reasonable. They installed a new 200 amp service as well as some exterior lighting for me, but they also do security systems - advanced ones that you can get texts on your phone when someone opens your doors and they can also install programmable house systems so you adjust heat, lights and air from your computer or phone- very cool! read more

I had them install a solar system. I gave this review based on my experience. The installers were fantastic. They cared. They were very fussy. I would give them a 5 star rating. The follow through by their programmer was terrible. It took 5 months to get the system working correctly. Communication with them was near impossible. read more

Terrible service, completely unprofessional and sloppy work at best. The electrician they sent out must have been new and did not know what he was doing. When I cancelled my service contract with them for fire monitoring, they called the fire dept. in an attempt to have me fined. This company appears very professional when they come out to do an estimate. Everything flys out the window after that. Misha in scheduling is very disorganized. I had my job booked for a month in advance. I took the day off from work for the job. There was a misunderstanding on whether it was a hard booking or not as apparently she thought I was supposed to get back to her with some questions answered. When I called the day before to confirm the appointment, I was told they had booked someone else instead. I told her I had taken the day off from work for the appointment. She said she would check with Eric and call me back. She never called or contacted me. It worked out for the best though. There estimate was double the money of other electricians!
