Very disappointed with my experience. I scheduled a knob-and-tube wiring assessment and was required to pay the fee in advance before anyone even came to my home. During the visit, the technician spent very little time explaining the condition of my wiring or how much knob-and-tube wiring was actually present. I left with more questions than answers and didn't receive the detailed assessment I was expecting. Instead, the conversation quickly shifted toward recommending expensive electrical work without first providing a clear explanation of the inspection findings. Considering the upfront fee, I don't feel the assessment provided good value. I expected a thorough evaluation, a detailed explanation of the results, and enough information to make an informed decision. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. read more

I received the estimate a few days later and scheduled the job. Jeff and Liam arrived on time and took great care to keep the house clean and free of clutter. In 43 years of home ownership, one of the things I've learned as time went on, was that in order to maintain my home I needed to be able to hire professional tradesmen who were adept at their trade(s) and understanding of my inexperience in their field(s). I discovered, however the majority of tradesmen were less than responsive, less than professional - one or two of them working long hours in order to accomplish little or nothing, or to set me back further than I was already. During the recent heat wave I was unable to use the air conditioner in my bedroom. I thought twice about my inability to tolerate the heat but also remembered my unsuccessful track record with tradesmen. I held my breath and called Kuhlman Electric. I spoke to Kerri who guided me through the process and eventually dispached Ervis Bushi. Thank you. Thank you. Ervis spent some time working at the electrical panel asking me (upstairs in the kitchen) to turn appliances off and on. Conclusion. The issue was not in the electrical panel but was a 'low voltage' problem at Eversource's connection(s): a bad connection at the point of attachment (to the house), at the pole, or with the transformer. He wrote out a script so I would know exactly what to say to Eversource and I called them promptly. Eversource concluded that it was a low voltage situation both at the point of attachment and at the pole. Eversource repaired both. Ervis painstakingly sussed out the problem through a thorough investigation of the panel and wiring. Not only did he resolve my issues in the most expeditious fashion, he also taught me a bit about wiring. Long story short, the thermostat wire was more than 30 years old and finally had to be replaced because the thermostat was no longer communicating with our furnace or A/C. I called Kuhlman Electric and was able to get an appointment within two days. Jeff D'Entremont and Liam O'Connor arrived, put boot covers on and assessed the situation and gave us a quote. Both Jeff and Liam answered all my questions patiently and did a fantastic job with snaking the wire from downstairs through the walls and to the second floor and made sure to hide where the holes (3 small ones downstairs and one through the wall upstairs where the refrigerator hid it) and patched the holes afterwards. Then they installed an Ecobee thermostat. We had used Kuhlman 5 years ago to upgrade our panel and install outdoor electrical hookups and were so pleased that we had no doubt that this time we would have the same great service. Well after3 months of trying to get my lights back on in my Den, Finally Satisfaction ! I've had numerous Companies attempt to help, then not show, or just, not return my calls! Which was planned and followed thru, I was thrilled to have a Co. that took so much time and Attention to my Dire situation! Just completed my 4th time hiring Kuhlman Electric. Needed them to move an exterior light and clean up some very messy wiring left by the previous owner. Top-notch work by Alex Cardona and Martin Colin. I'm always nervous about hiring contractors on a time and material basis, but for this type of project, it made sense. Moving the exterior light was broken out as a separate fixed price quote for the same visit. While they were working, I expanded the original scope to include adding and moving two outlet boxes in the basement. I couldn't be happier with the quality of the work and the amount of time spent on the time and material portion. The quality of the work was excellent, both were very easy to ask questions of, and I feel like I got top-notch results at a very reasonable price. Kuhlman electrician, Ervis, came to check my malfunctioning dryer. What I liked about him was his professionalism, honesty and efficiency. He was cordial and explained to me everything he was doing from start to finish. After assessing what my major complaint was of the dryer malfunction, and determining what the actual problems were, he fixed the electrical part and discovered that the main reason for the malfunction was within the dryer mechanics, which required an appliance professional to fix it. I reached out to KES after finding them as an approved Tesla Wallcharger installer on Tesla's list of endorsed installers. Everything about their process and business is confidence inspiring, and every interaction has been nothing but professional and courteous. It was also nice to see Jesse Kuhlmans' thought leadership around home inspections and electrical installations on their website as well. After reaching out for quote information, they sent out Jesse himself for an estimate, and was courteous throughout. They noted install date would be several weeks out, but that a cancellation could pop up at any time if I was flexible. For me, this was OK, especially given the overall current climate of available parts. After letting them know I had received my Wallcharger, they were able to squeeze in a last minute appointment just two days later. Installers were in and out, minimal disturbance, in just about 90 minutes, with a clean looking outside installation on an outside, vinyl siding facing the exterior parking area. I would thoroughly recommend KES, they do a great job of exhibiting their work, are true professionals, and should be anyone's first and last consideration for electric work in the area. read more

I hired KES to remove the remaining knob and tube wiring from my 100+ year old home - this included several kitchen overhead lights, multiple outlets in my office, overhead light in my office, and my all of my basement lights. KES was incredibly efficient and considerate during the entire process. The value for my money was even better than I expected. Rich and Bobby were always on time, took the time to explain their ideas/processes to me, and ultimately had my satisfaction of utmost importance. I knew they would have to cut some small holes into my walls for routing the wiring, but before every cut they would check with me to make sure I was okay with it. They also made many simple recommendations along the way which I had not even thought of, which I am very thankful for. Lastly, they installed new light fixtures and a ceiling fan (that I purchased ahead of time) with zero issues. We had a Tesla wall connector, as well as another 220v 20A outlet, installed in our garage. I was extremely impressed with Kuhlman. They're communication was top notch and were very flexible when it came to scheduling appointments that fit our needs. Jesse came to our place for a free estimate (which was awesome), and their quote was very reasonable. My unit only has 100A service, but Jesse had a great suggestion which was to install an energy management system that would allow me to install a higher, 40A circuit in my panel for the charger while still meeting code. I was very easy to tell that the team cared about their work and did an extremely professional job. I'm super happy with the setup and so glad that I can now charge my car quickly at home!
