I had some not insignificant work done by Harland on a couple of occassions. On both occasions Mr Harland had to come and fix the initial work. Harland had a great reputation, that's why I gave it a second chance. But on the second occasion, I had the fire department and town inspector at my house to tell me what was wrong. It was a double feed. The electrician came back, swore the inspector was wrong. Disabled a 3-way swtich to remedy the problem. I find later that it was in fact a double feed issue as a switch the previously had nothing to do with the problem lighting had been wired in causing the issue. I do think that the Harland brothers are good electricians and earned their repulation. But I wouldn't recommend their employees. read more

I was a Harland Customer in Acton MA. Harland installed a 240V outlet in my Garage to charge an electric vehicle. They were super reliable arriving exactly on time and completing the project in a few hours. I am now a Harland Customer in Arlington, MA having moved here last January. The new house is almost 100 years old and presents many challenges to homeowner and contractors alike. I hired Harland to replace the 40 year 100A service to 200A. They added a feeder box in my workshop, some new outlets in very difficult to reach locations, and a new 240V fixture in a detached garage to charge my car. Bill Harland had come to the house to do the walk through for the estimate. He was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to listen and provide feedback and insights into my new "old" house. The estimate was thorough and competitive with other contractors. Harland came to my house with 2 electricians to begin the upgrade. When it became evident that work could not be completed in a single day another Harland crew was summoned. The electricians were very adept at dealing with the challenges presented by an old house. They explained every trade off to me in clear and precise terms. They completed 90% of the work the day they arrived. I got a call from Bill Harland to reassure me that they would be back in a day or so to finish. They returned with two electricians and completed the project. Overall it was an great engagement. I had Harland Electric come out and check out my electrical panel due to an issue where the electric dryer kept tripping the circuit breaker. (There was water near the breaker that I observed when it did this.) I had a few other minor things I wanted to have them check at the same time. The guys (Kevin and Derek) were great and knowledgeable and recommended I replace the panel due to the corrosion. I got an e-mail from Bill Harland who gave me information on what my options were and some estimates. I asked a bunch of questions and Bill was a great help in making a final decision. I felt he was honest about his recommendation as I debated doing a more expensive upgrade and Bill felt for my situation it would be overkill. I opted for a full replacement 100amp with the feed from the outside. (My house is very small and 100 amps has always been more than sufficient) Kevin and Mike showed up on time for the appointment and did an awesome job on the replacement. The work was high quality, neat and professional. The guys were also great around the young children (2 and 5), they very friendly and even my wife was comfortable (and that's impressive). They cleaned up completely and even took care of a couple of additional things that I had hoped (but didn't expect) they'd be able to get to. There were no surprises with the bill and within the estimate (even with the extra stuff). Judy in the office was also very nice and great with setting up schedules and dealing with the deposit.
