Truly terrible. Egregious price gouging - charged 4x the typical rate for the simplest job (changing the wall outlet - and apparently, it takes TWO people to do this) and claimed that "this is what all electricians are charging these days" (which is completely not true). Did not provide us with a quote ahead of time - they state they don't do "troubleshooting" and when they showed up, instead of being upfront and transparent, they proceeded to work on the wall outlet AND THEN gave us the cost. Which we then felt obligated to pay because, I mean, are you supposed to haggle with the electrician or...? Claimed it was our fault that we "didn't inquire" about their prices when we called - yet when we described the electrical issue we were experiencing during the call, they said the estimate would be free - and they could have easily said something along the lines of, "Okay, this sounds like the issue is this [insert issue here]... and this how much we would charge to fix it...[insert $ amount]". But no. They prefer to simply show up and then justify their visit by upcharging you big time. Our landlady is a senior citizen. When we asked whether they offer senior citizens discounts, they said they do not. However, the story changed later on when they said that they in fact do offer senior citizens discounts but a senior citizen must be present during the time of their visit or be the one submitting payment. Not once did they say during their visit, "We do offer senior citizens discounts! Are there any senior citizens residing at this place?" Not once! They just flat out said "no senior citizens discounts" because they didn't see an elderly person at the time of their visit - and then changed their story. We ran some comps and came up with an $ amount that we thought was a fair charge for the job in our area - a quote from another electrician backed us up (as well as some online research) that our suggestion was more than fair. MTS was not willing to make things right, gave massive pushback sprinkled with some intimidating legal terminology and accused us of "bullying" them - when all we did was call them out on their excessive price gouging, lack of transparency and extreme upcharge. Their response to our request to lower what they charged us (again, 4x the typical rate)? "What are you crying about, most people pay more than this for cable!" Clearly, that should make us feel better. And my husband is on a fixed disability income - the cost of this service was more than 1/3 of his monthly income. Mind you, it was to change a wall outlet which should have taken 30 minutes tops! But we shouldn't complain because, according to MTS, the majority of their dissatisfied customers would simply say "well, we're not going to use them again", stew silently in disdain after being screwed over, and go away. So we should basically just follow suit. I don't think so. We regret believing these 5-star Google reviews (which appear to be "fixed") and hiring this company. They did nothing to make things right whatsoever. HORRIBLE customer service. STAY AWAY and maybe ask your friends and family about who they prefer to use for any electrical service before calling this company. read more

Communication between what was in our contract and our electrician (Michael Sarat with occasionally assistance by Rich) was poor - Several times the electrician had to be reminded to follow our contract for number of lights, size of lights etc. - They began to install the wrong size light fixtures even after discussing what the contract said - they also installed the incorrect bulb color/kelvin also after discussing what we wanted. We ended up having to purchase our own supplies to replace the incorrect ones. The electrician was vaping in our home - when we realized this was happening, we asked him to only do it outside of our house and asked our project manager to also deliver this message - he continued to do it on the job despite our multiple requests. The electrician worked in our home while we were out of town and left our refrigerator electrical circuit off for four days which lead to all the food in our refrigerator/freezer spoiling. We lost approximately $300 of food in the fridge and freezer and had to deep clean our brand new fridge. The electrician mislabeled the electrical box circuits and it took him several weeks to come back to fix it. Electrician refused to find a solution to a humming/buzzing sound coming from a recessed light he installed. After much complaining a new electrician come over to resolve the issue. Electrician left a mess in our basement (debris, dust, etc.). Had to ask several times for him to come back and clean it up - electrician often stated that it was outside of his job to do the cleaning and it was the cabinet installer's responsibility - the cabinet installer denied this duty when the mess was caused by the electrician. Obviously there was miscommunication about who was doing what... and instead of waiting weeks for them to return to clean up the mess, we ended up doing ourselves. The electrician's overall personality was rude from the start. He had a negative attitude when he walked in the door (even commenting on how he didn't want this particular job and that he was forced by the owner to provide the electrical quote). He constantly complained and was unpleasant to work with -Our project coordinator, actually had to step in and ask him to step outside of our home during one particular day because he was being inappropriate and insulting both the cabinet installer and us (while we were in his presence). read more

In Feb '17 I contracted for a heating&AC system. My husband passed suddenly 31/2 mos prior & I wanted to wait but the project was already delayed. My heating contractor was.a former co-worker of my late husband's at the gas Co : he'd been.fired after ~20yrs, was rehired & after a few yrs fired again! His firings were due to risking public safety: ie: he recorded false gas readings at sites where gas levels had to be closely monitored - then slept through his shift & reported fake readings! ID no reason to doubt his ability & presumed given our recent loss he'd go out of his way to be helpful. My daughter & I were appalled by fact he took advantage of our fragile state; looking for excuses to bilk us of $! The alleged 2 wk. job shouldn't have exceeded 3 due to a side job I added - it took 31/2 months. He'd asked for 3 house keys for him & wrkrs.to drop off supplies & work if we werent home. I gave him 1 & he behaved like he had a right to enter or send workers to our home without prior notice. Given the duration of the job he'd often wk only 1 or 2 days in a week. I told him to call the night before to apprise me he'd be there the next AM & that the key wa given only in event I wasn't home so when i expected them I'd let them in. He "reluctantly" agreed many times but honored this only twice! He knew my daughter took the loss very hard, I often was up with her much of the night yet he'd continually overlook common courtesy! He hired Michael Serat of MTS Electrical to do electric wk & Mr. Serats contract with Mr Harris, was part of the heating job & hed be paid direct by him. Because the 2nd of 2 heating units had to be installed in the attic he began "telling me" he'd have him install more overhead lights; I told him I was having a new roof installed with sky lights & DO NOT do anything beyond the heat/AC job & 1 side job. Mr Harris showed signs of instability: he'd 'tell me" of various unrelated jobs "I'm gonna have done" in my house after I repeatedly told him to do nothing without my written approval. After Mr Harris' 2nd & final firing from Gas Co. I learned he'd had a plumbing/heating busoness while out of wk 2 yrs awaiting his rehire yet was unlicensed. After his 2nd firing we were gravely concerned about him wking in peoples homes- Phil confirmed his mechanical ability but we ?? His stability. Fairly sure there was psych & character eval in licensing assuaged our concern when he assured us he'd soon be llegal. It'd been ~17 yrs so Id no reason to suspect he was unlicensed. I learned he wasn't when job was nearly complete. Horrified to see a strange man walking around the house I almost called 911 but learned it was Mr. Sarat, who'd been here once before with MrHarris.- who'd just let himself in- no prior call or knock at the door. Realizing it was Mike Serat I was upset hed mimicked inappropriate , arrogant behavior but to give him benefit of the doubt I suggested a smoking break. I was forthcoming about the heat Contractors behavior, our recent tragedy & fact it was clear he was looking for ways to find things to"fix" & overcharge me -( which was exactly what he did!) & I was troubled to learn Mr Serat was cognizant of our tragedy & Mr. Harris' inappropriate behavior. He also agreed there may be mental health issues & had a few stories of his own! That confirmed he was aware of Mr Harris character flaws & possible mental Health issues. I told him given his awareness of Mr. Harris I'd expect him to be more careful to behave appropriately, not follow suit!! When I inquired if walking into clients' homes with no prior notice or knock on the door was business as usual I got no response & thought my point was clear. . I soon realized Mr.Serat used Mr. Harris behavior to help himself to jobs unsolicited by me, to overcharge, etc. . Mr Serat still let himself in, came unannounced & used the excuse "other workers are already here-". I told him given the facts I apprised him of that common sense should have dictated that rogue behavior applied & he should NOT follow suit! Mr Serat installed overhead lights & plugs not requested by me. He then DID CALL to request pmt for wk he did for Mr Harris cuz " though u paid Mr Harris he didn't pay me" I'd been trying to get rid of a lingering flu, & exhausted after dealing with almost 4 mos of MrHarris' I pd Mr Serat for a few things- about $1000; I itemized in my checkbook exactly what I paid for & the amounts. Mr Serat "conveniently" forgot my receipt & has promised & not sent it, I learned Mr Harris pd MSerat soon after I did; Mr Serat confirmed some double pmts & again promised a receipt & refunds of overage I paid. It refund hasnt come. I also overpdMr Harris for what he had Mr Serat due against my will & learned he added $ to Mr Serats price. Id heard tales of Contractors taking advantage of women who'd recently list her heinous , greedy behavior is hard to fathom until you're victimized.. think twice! Jennifer Cronin read more
