I reached out to my neighbor friend Ed (who has worked for this company for 30 years) last week regarding the need for an extra Key and FOB for my car that I recently purchased and he immediately stepped up to the plate by providing me with a couple of FOBS as well as a few keys. Not only did he just give me these items, he actually programmed the FOBS to my car and is wanting to help me with my alarm system. How great is that? A man who not only provides the products but actually makes sure that everything is working the way it's supposed to and wanting to help me with the other alarm issue. Absolutely sickening inappropriate. Rick at Nyberg hit our car today with his work van, proceeded to get out, accost my girlfriend with obscenities, and then attempt to ram the car again. Upon going into the shop to get some details on the situation, Rick was just as rude to me, refusing to be civil about the situation. He'll now be receiving an insurance claim for his asinine behavior. This happened right in front of his workplace, in his work van, with his work attire on. What a terrible face for the company. Our business has closed our account with Nyberg. Jessie Black, the manager of the location, assured me that the situation would be dealt with and that I would receive their insurance information. Still waiting on it. I may be willing to change the rating if they deal with the situation properly and get rid of the absurd, utterly sickening inappropriate Rick. I took an old desk lock in to see if I could have it replaced since I'd acquired it second hand and didn't receive any keys for it. Brian took my order and told me to leave the lock with him then Lars followed up letting me know they'd be in touch on the outcome. After getting back Lars informed me that it was an older, unique lock and that although they couldn't replace it they could make keys for it, I was relieved by that information and after three day picked up the keys and installed the lock on my desk and am now able to secure my files thanks to the team at Watson Security! I bought a used VW last year and unfortunately the car only had one key. I called the dealer and from what I recall, the cost was somewhere about $200 for the key, cutting and programming. What the hell happened to buying a key and getting it cut for under $20? I found blank keys for $25ea on eBay. I then took the blank to a local hardware store. They advised that there policy was only to cut keys they sell. Then they recommended that I give Nyberg Security a call. I drove 20 miles to get there and was told that I would have to leave the keys for a few hours. I said I would window shop, left my cell and asked them to call when the keys were done. The good news is they called me about an hour later to advise that the keys were done. In the end they charged about $65 per key to cut. I thought it was overpriced, but it was the only choice I had at the time. I didn't feel my business was appreciated and there was no sense of urgency or customer service. Locksmiths are a dime a dozen and like Plumbers, they aren't hard to find, but getting a fair reasonable price with service is always a challenge. Would not seek out Nyberg again. read more

These guys are the official locksmiths for our building . . .unfortunately their "on-call" service doesn't seem to exist! Our lock was broken and we couldn't get into our apartment . . . calling their emergency number resulted in 2 unreturned messages and us calling another locksmith (who showed up within 20 minutes). read more

(Okay, fine) -Transfer to Nyberg- I ordered keys "We'll give you a call when they're ready" -Next day- I called asked if they're ready "They're ready" (Without calling me back? Okay, fine) I drive to downtown "Sorry for some reason the order was not placed" (Okay fine) I asked them if they can make it for me the next day and showed them the keys I want. "Yes" -Next day- I called and asked if they're ready "They're not ready but I can have them ready in 20 minutes" (And you couldn't do this yesterday? Okay, fine) I come there pick up my keys. I don't get what people expect of a locksmith shop. I've never had them come out and unlock a door for me. But the in store expereince was efficient, clean and quick with a convenient location in downtown Seattle. I'm a regular whenever I need a set of keys made. read more

I am really surprised to read these negative reviews. This is my favorite key shop in all of Seattle. They have a good selection of keys, the keys made at the shop always work and the staff is prompt and helpful. I had them come out and re-key my apartment and they were timely and pleasant. My only complaint is that they are closed on the weekend. read more

Argens closed in July 2013 and sold their phone numbers and business records to Watson Security Group who has also bought Nyberg Locksmith and kept that name and location intact. I assumed that the price of duplicating a key would be around the $2.85 per key i had paid before and sent a helper to get a dozen keys duplicated. Nope, $5.60 per key! Price has doubled! $73 for a 5-minute job! That's it! I called a still independent locksmith, Bergmann's and they are $3.50 per key. i have ordered my key blanks (strange and old) from MySecurityPro.com (50 keys for $22) and will either buy my own duplicator or go to my hardware store (Stewart Lumber is great!) with my key blanks and get the key duplicated for $1.49 each. I schedule my door lock to be rekeyed a week in advance. The scheduler gave me a 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. slot. On the day and time the technician was to arrive, no one called or showed up. I called them and they had no record of the appointment. The receptionist on the line insisted I had no appointment. I finally convinced him by saying my cell phone has record of the call. He later got back to me and offer to make another appointment the following week, unfortunately I would not be in Seattle on that day. Very poor scheduling operation and customer service. read more

I've been going to Nyberg for many years. I own a business that was opened in 1899 (This is not a typo. We are 118 years old this year.) and we have some pretty old unusual locks. They never fail to do a good job with anything I bring them. I had a really old (and odd) safe key to copy today. I took it to a locksmith that is a little more convenient to me and they told me that they couldn't do it. Nyberg on the other hand said "sure." In fact the guy even said he actually found the challenge fun! I can't recommend this place enough. read more

Our locks had to be changed unexpected and we had contacted them to refer us to an after-hours locksmith (they were unable to do the job themselves due to the hour). I went to this outfit to get extra keys my car. They're the expensive ($25.), programable type of keys that the later model GM cars have. When I went out to my car and found that the keys could not be programmed I went back in and asked for a refund. The manager told me that I had to take the car to a dealer to fix the problem. Now that's baloney. They charged me $75 for three keys that are useless. Don't do business with these guys! read more
