If you've been suffering from pain and haven't been able to find good relief from usual massage therapies, go see Aaron right now. I've had chronic back pain for 10+ years due to playing the violin since the age of 3 and bad posture (I have scoliosis in my back and reverse curve in my cervical spine), so I can say I've tried a number of different massages. After moving to DC, I was pretty unimpressed by 3-4 other massage shops I've tried and I had stopped searching altogether. Some of them even resulted in worse radiating pain afterwards. Recently a medication caused stiff muscles and the pain became unbearable again, so after reading some great reviews about Aaron, I decided to try the trigger point massage despite the hefty price tag. And I was NOT DISAPPOINTED. I've met some other knowledgeable massage therapists in my life, but so far Aaron is the absolute best at actually applying his knowledge to my suffering muscles. Came here to add my recommendation for a massage + cupping with Jackson.He came highly recommended and did not disappoint (even for a massage veteran like me)! I'm a fairly active person (heavy lifting mostly) but threw my body off with a tremendous amount of back to back international travel this past year. I've never had an issue booking or modifying reservations. -Communication: Jackson is communicative without being too intrusive in regards to pressure, pain points, or thoroughly explaining any stretching or active release he wants to try. -The cupping: not traditional but so much better. He uses cups of various sizes and moves them along the length of the muscles/chain of muscles in a way that targets, lifts, and brings blood flow to the area. This pulling combined with the pressing in typical deep tissue and active release techniques has been the most effective massage combination I've had yet to get at the especially troublesome small muscles in my upper back/shoulder blades and my legs/glutes. I also appreciate the occasional heated stones he adds to get deeper release in the muscles. -Educated: Not everyone comes to a massage for chatting but I ask a lot of questions and he's patient/eager to educate. Jackson is deeply knowledgeable in anatomy and the latest in exercise science and it shows. He was able to identify and explain the source of my issues while showing me the linkages between my weak/tight muscles on one side of my body and how that affected the pain felt in other areas. Being an athlete himself and with many athlete clients, he also gives the best functional strengthening advice. I always go away with targeted ideas on what I need to work on to keep my aching muscles at bay. -Overall: Besides the near therapeutic level of work Jackson does, he also delivers a great massage that just feels darn good. I tried Wat Massage after searching on Yelp for a Thai massage place in Washington, D.C. The fact that there was an awesome Yelp deal for a 90 minute massage made me think that I should at least give it a try. I called for a same-day appointment, and the person on the phone was friendly and accommodating. I asked for someone who had a firm hand, and the guy on the phone recommended Crystal. When I arrived at the location, I was impressed with the clean, sleek ambience. I filled out some brief paperwork, and Crystal came down to pick me up relatively quickly. She was just what I was looking for in terms of pressure, emphasizing several knots on my back. It hurt, as expected, but was definitely relaxing (as evidenced by the mini-nap during the massage), and I would definitely try her again if I came back. read more

...To add my praise to the rest on here.... I wanted to give Jackson a review specifically for prenatal massage. I've been going to him for close to a year now. He was recommended by a pilates coach of mine to help me with my un-diagnosed hip and back pain. As other reviewers have noted, he has the knowledge and background to help with sports-related pain and injury, and he's not afraid to try. He's been extremely helpful in loosening up the tightness in those areas. Once I got pregnant, I continued going to Jackson and the experience has been equally as wonderful. He continues to work on my problem areas, but more gently. He does a side massage which I prefer to face down even if they have a table for the belly. The experience is extremely relaxing, and my back and hip pain (which surprisingly, pregnancy has NOT helped!) is always alleviated afterwards. Would highly recommend for prenatal. Trigger point massage therapists here are amazing. I have chronic pain. Starts in my spine (esp my neck) and radiates into my shoulders and hips. When it's bad every joint hurts. I generally work with Aaron and I have been very hesitant to try anybody else. I was desperate and he wasn't available so I worked with Latrice. She was heavenly in her own way. I've found that not many places offer 2 hr massages. My masseuse was running late but didn't short me my 2 hours. Overall I enjoyed the experience-it was very relaxing as a had a number of knots in my neck & shoulders from stress and generally neglecting my own self-care. I like that they have a broad range of hours for appointments and their flexibility. I didn't see an appointment time on the website for when I wanted to come in (within 4 days) but as the website says I called and they were able to accommodate me. read more

Today I went for a deep tissue signature massage by Latrice after seeing others rave about her and I'm here to add to those positive reviews. I haven't been able to lift my arms above my shoulder for the past 2 weeks without discomfort or pain but now I can turn my neck and raise my arms with no issue. I was a faithful customer to Bodyworks in SE but they are no longer. Was really excited to come to WAT as a first time and reading the rave reviews however after changing my appt to an earlier time I was paired with someone that's style was more light touch relaxation. She never asked me about pressure or read my intake form. I had to ask her more pressure twice and by the 3rd graze she ran her fingers across my back I stopped her and asked for a new masseuse 35min in. I get massages a lot. I had to wait about an hour for someone to be available which I didn't mind because I was in that much pain but when she came, she asked me immediately about pressure and went directly to the trigger points I needed. They redeemed themselves which is why I gave 4 stars. I gave her an extra tip and asked to be booked again but she was booked full and they never called back or followed up. I carry tension in my back and down to my hands like mad and thought that was the way it had to be. Then I met Ireney (sp?). Did you know that I also have some severe tension in my neck? I just had my first treatment at Wat Massage and it was INCREDIBLE! My therapist Jackson did a fantastic job and I feel like a new man. I'm not a massage regular and usually find myself in a fancy (and often overpriced) spa at a luxury hotel when I'm on vacation and that's about it. But who has time for an extended "spa day" on a regular basis? I certainly don't. I've been looking for somewhere local that offers a good massage in a relaxing environment. My first experience at Wat Massage was perfect. The facility itself was calming and tranquil. I arrived and the receptionist gave me a warm greeting and introduced me to Jackson. While I filled out paperwork, Jackson readied the treatment room. We chatted for a couple of minutes and I told him I'm a fitness enthusiast who exercises 6-8 times a week. That leaves my muscles incredibly tight and I've been having trouble with my shoulder muscle complex. He understood immediately and we got started. I LOVED that he applied heavy pressure while asking if I was doing okay the whole time. He'd work on area, ask me to rate my comfort level before and after so he could see if what he was doing was effective. This was exactly the type of massage I was looking for at home. I went to Wat massage for a therapeutic back massage. I have a muscle strain from the gym. I had the 90 min massage and pointed out my problem areas in the questionnaire. The pre appointment paperwork was reasonable, and they offered to deliver it to me pre appt. is email to save time. They did a good job creating a relaxing atmosphere which isn't easy because it's located in a pretty busy street. My therapist (sorry I can't remember her name) was responsive to my requests, and reduced pressure in the more tender spots near my shoulder blade. Overall it was a good experience. Post Covid review: I desperately needed a massage and felt conflicted about supporting this work as numbers begin to rise. That being said they did absolutely everything make me and my husband comfortable within the building and while receiving therapy. The receptionist was awesome when I called, walking through several therapists styles and explaining that the max amount of people to a room was 2. You wear masks and have your temperature taken and then take off your masks and lay face down when you undress, like "normal". It was really heaven sent for my mental health, Lorenzo was amazing and my husband had Alex and liked him as well. I cannot recommend this place enough for expecting moms. I can't afford to visit Irani as often as I'd like, but she's a special treat for this ever-growing body! I was suffering from severe sciatic pain, could not walk and needed to be carried into the studio. (George/Jorge was my knight in shining armor! He literally carried me up the stairs into the studio and placed me on the massage table.) Irani was patient and comforting. She is extremely knowledgeable about the pressure needed for each side of my body, per the sciatic nerve pain. She explained what she was doing and answered any questions I had. She worked expertly and for the entire hour. After the massage, she coached me through posture while walking and helped me re-learn how to apply appropriate pressure when walking and sitting. She also invited my sister into the room to make sure we were both comfortable with getting me out of the studio on my own two feet! I was carried in and did a little shuffle walk out. But I decided to give it another try and booked a trigger points therapy massage with LaTrice, and it was AMAZING. I told her what my issue was in my neck, back and shoulders, and she seemed to know exactly what to do to address the exact areas. Plus, she kept a consistent pressure that was perfect for me the entire time.
