This is a fast food sushi and bento establishment. Their logo drew me in. I had a pre-rolled Dragon Roll and a Sweet Chili Chicken Bento. The roll and bento were both flavorful and satisfying. I'm visiting London from the US and love the concept of individually wrapped and boxes of sushi and related food items, perfect for self-serve/grab-to-go. On top of that, the prices are really cheap for the quality and freshness of the food. However, you still get what you pay for. The chicken katsu, for example, was a lot of rice and a Japanese curry that was slightly bland and didn't have that many veggies in it - it was really most gravy (a few onions and cubes of carrots, mostly). The accompanying chicken katsu was fried well, but again a bit bland. It would help a lot if Wasabi provided sauces, such as sriracha, or maybe I missed it because this particular venue was very tiny, had limited seating, and extremely crowded during this time of day. The custard pancake was also overly sweet and not buttery/creamy like I'd hoped. If you're hungry and want a really quick and satisfying meal though that is light on the wallet, I think Wasabi really hits the spot. read more

The look is great. The presentation is great, friendly and smiley, keen staff. Nice packaging and range. Clean, bright, busy. The whole concept looks good. What let it down was the food however which should be the most important point. Chicken katsu yakisoba bento. Sounds great and even looked nice in the round box but disappointing. Here's why: - Small portion in large box with raised bottom so looks bigger than it is. - Made with that kind of cheap chicken that has a sponge like texture and no taste. - Yakisoba noodles consisting of a few noodles, a few shreds of white cabbage and a few bits of spongy chicken. Just mean and cheap. - Overall deeply disappointing. Could be so much better. It was cheap, yes, but NOT good value. read more

I wish we had WASABI in Belgium! Love the concept: sushi fast food, you grab, u pay and u leave or eat in. Individual packaged sushi is very handy too. Plus, the sushis are, according only to me, very tasty and super fresh quality! This is our favourite fast food in the world! Okey, there is a "but"too... The soups, the noodles and the other stuff behind the bar is defenitely not worth it. So I only recommend the sushis, especially if you want something fresh. The gyozas were tasteless... We needed something quick to eat and inexpensive. I ordered katsu curry with breaded chicken in a bowl, the portion size was great, rice at bottom curry on top. The breaded chicken was the best part of the meal in the tub, the curry needed a kick. My mum enjoyed her spicy noodles though. The meal cost £6. We sat down to eat unfortunately, the table's needed a clean down, the floor needed a sweep it was just gross! I just felt the table and chairs were positioned awkwardly. I really enjoyed this place. It's fresh, fairly cheap seafood that's well packaged and contains fair portions. I think my favorite is the seafood trio, with 3 types of seaweed salad (2.15 pounds I think). I also really like the edamame, which is only 1.15 pounds and comes in a large can. The salmon sashimi is fresh and quite tasty as well for fast food Japanese food. My friend really likes the packaged cones, which I'll have to try one of these days, and I also want to try the bento box which contain sashimi, little pieces of sushi, tempura and salad. Overall, food is pretty good but they definitely need more seating inside! read more

I have to admit, I'm no sushi expert, but prior to sampling Wasabi's fishy delights, I had only ever eaten supermarket or sandwich-shop attempts and thought that was as good as it got. How wrong I wasI'm quite fussy where fish is concerned (especially raw fish) but they have so much choice that you're bound to find something you like. They also have loads of vegetarian options and even chicken sushi! My favourites are the tuna. Very fresh and naturally salty. The rice is cooked to perfection and the soy sauce is sublime (if you've had bad, cheap soy sauce to compare it to, you'll know what I mean). The price is about right for sushi, you will need to spend £5 - £6 to get a decent-sized lunch. Soy sauce comes in sachets and is 5p extra (I think). You can also get extra chopped ginger, wasabi itself (a hot, horseradish-type stuff) and wasabi peas in a little packet - which make a good snack. The packaging is wasteful and can be annoying when you get back to your desk at work and have to spend 5 mins unwrapping it all. However, it's worth the wait and at least you know the sushi is fresh and clean. Wasabi also sells hot food (bento) - tasty looking chicken and curries and rice dishes. I've had these before and some are pretty good, but nothing particularly special. N.B They have a few small metal tables and chairs for people wishing to eat there, but it gets quite crowded and I much prefer to take mine out. P.S. I've been to other Wasabi outlets at the O2 Arena and near Liverpool street but for some reason the sushi doesn't taste quite as good there. Strange but true. read more

I love Wasabi. The sushi is authentic, but very reasonably priced, and packaged individually, as the owners want sushi to be accessable to a Western audience. I love that they have so many tasty vegetarian options, my favourite being seaweed gunkan. It looks good and tastes delicious. I really love the yasai set box, which is excellent value for money and provides plenty of food for one person. The hot food is also really tasty, I love the tofu yakisoba. The portion is very generous too. I'm a loyal Wasabi customer, and don't see that changing at any time. read more

Very good price for "quick" but not too "fast foodis" meals. Good staff and enough chicken/fish (actually much more than any other place at the city - most places will ask for more money and will bring you bunch of rice and little chicken/fish). Good for Paleo / Ketogenic lifestyle/diet people - plenty of meat/fish for fair price. Sushi is alright but the rice/chicken/noodles/fish main dishes will give you a better solution for launch. read more

Yum! I love Wasabi (although not the food-stuff.. I digress). If you like sushi, you have to give this place a go. The basics of it are that you grab a little tray, and select what you want from the chiller cabinets. The sushi is priced between £1 and £2 for 2 and the range of choice you get is good. I always overspend a little in there, but that's more because I'm greedy than anything else. The quality is good and you can't complain about the cost, certainly not compared to other places.. My only concern is the amount of waste generated, as each item is individually wrapped, but I have to say, my tummy always wins that battle! read more

Great value fast, healthy food. I was really overjoyed when I first discovered Wasabi (the chain, not the super hot paste!) as I was wandering around with £5 to my name, really hungry, and daydreaming about Sushi! I stumbled across the Oxford circus branch by chance, and couldn't believe my luck! This clean and smart takeaway, (with a few seats outside) keeps the prices low by apparently using Sushi Robots imported from Japan. The Sushi, Sashimi, Edamame and salads etc are all self service, and the Sushi rolls etc are wrapped and labelled as 2 for £1.50 etc, with different ranges costing a little more or less. the pieces are individually wrapped, which though hygienic, is a bit wasteful of plastic, and I'd be happy to see some sort of recycled plastic, or even paper. it's great value, and very tasty! read more

There are always a lot of people in this shop which means it's good (at least that's what I thought.) sushis are good (not the best tho ) and Fresh . Can someone please explain to me why there is consistently a line of folks nearly out the door to eat at Wasabi? I had a bit of an upset stomach and fought through the line at Wasabi to pick up a bit of veggie noodle soup today. As I waited for my soup broth to be heated in the microwave, I watched as the rather unfriendly staff pulled tray after tray of noodles, fried prawns and fried chicken from a line up of 5+ different microwaves behind the serving area. Gross. Wasabi, can you at least hide the fact that your food isn't fresh and is microwaved? Next time I want microwaved soup, I'll head to Sainsburys, pick up 6 cans of noodle soup and head back to the office and use the micro at work (and likely still pay less than I did at Wasibi). read more

Wasabi served its purpose for a quick, dirty and low cost sushi or asian food craving for that matter... it's not as bad as it sounds. While on a week long business trip in London, this place became somewhat of a comforting staple for me. I love the fact that you can pick and choose sushi by the piece and not have to purchase the entire roll, because what fun is that? Variety is the spice of life ;) The hot dishes were above average- I've tried the spicy chicken and teriyaki chicken over rice dishes which came with bonus points when eating in cold London weather - definitely kept the temperature and mood up. Recommend trying this place out if you're in a rush and want a somewhat healthy and delicious asian treat where you can sit down and enjoy it while it lasts. read more

Really nice to have a cheap sushi place that even does vegetarian stuff! I especially like the sour plum seaweed and rice triangles. You have to pay 5p extra for soya sauce in a fish-shaped little squirty thing, and you have to unwrap and then fold up the seaweed round the rice yourself, but that's part of the fun. read more

Cheap and quick. Only go here if you're in a super hurry, looking for a snack. It's the McDonald's of Japanese food. All the sushi is individually wrapped and you just put it on a tray and check out at the counter. It's take-away only, though I understand some other branches have seating space. Wasabi is a good lunch place. They offers sushi in a box, bento set, fried rice and noodles, steamed rice with meat or vegetables dishes. Hence the variety of food is quite good and they are fairly cheap as well. Hot dishes with steam rice cost about $4.50 and friend rice along cost about £3.50. I love this plce and I am sure more people looking for value for money lunches will love it too. read more

As a real fan of real sushi, this place isn't the best. But it'll do in a hurry. When I get the chance, I much prefer to go and sit in a nice Japanese place like Cafe Japan, Hi Sushi or Kulu Kulu. Wasabi does some hot foods; sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, the basics. The sushi is sold as pick n mix, where you choose what you want and put it into a takeaway tray and the staff will total it for you. You have to pay extra for ginger, wasabi and soy sauce unless you buy one of the sushi or sashimi kits which already includes it The sushi is ok, and there is a decent variety but it is too mass produced, losing quality in the process. read more

I ordered some chicken yakisoba and chicken teriyaki for my lunch a few weeks ago and was totally disgusted! I opened up and it looked like dog food! it was so mushy and had so much old slimy mushy onions and grey veggies, it was absolutely greasy and horrible! It had more onions and old veggies than actual noodles I almost felt like they scrapped leftovers from the bin and scoped it back in my pot to sell to me. I ate about a third and had to bin the rest, what a waste of six quid. Do not go here, there's a pret close by. read more

The big cartons of Japanese soup (yakisoba?) are incredibly tasty and filling. One of my favourite foods-on-the-go.

I have never enjoyed packed sushi but for this place I changed my mind. Prices seem quite cheap (Sushi - 2 for £1 to £2) and a good lunch size portion would probly be around £5. They well wasabi and soy sauce separately for reasonable prices. Rice is fresh and not hard compared to supermarket bought sushi. My favourite would be grilled eel sushi and the calfornia rolls. They sell hot food as well, fried noodles, fried rice and meat dishes with rice. I do not really fancy these as they seem too salty but they give good portions for the price (around £4 for fried rice). I like Wasabi and I visit the other stand in Victoria Station quite often, it's always nice to grab some sushi before my train journey! read more

I have had lunch here sometimes. It is a place where you can find healthy japanese food for a reasonable price but not expect too much. Onigiri are good and nori is in a separately wrap to keep it fresh and crunchy. I have never tasted misoshiru they have just because It doesnt look nice to me. read more

I am no sushi expert but i do love fish and have had some (what i would consider as) nice sashimi in France. I have been very disapointed in the supermarket versions of sushi in UK. None of them containing any sashimi except Waitrose sushi (which, although the best, "supermarket sushi" still left a lot to be desired) . Anyway, On a recent visit to London, i was determined to try some more authentic sushi from somewhere. I chose Wasabi because most of the people dining there were oriental which i took as a good sign and i wasn't disapointed. I chose a salad containing tuna sashimi, salmon sashimi, some processed fish, one of those tiny, sweet omlettes, sushi rice and carrott shredded like noodles. It came with a pot of chilli dipping sauce and i really enjoyed it. The sashimi was lightly seasoned with toasted sesame oil and tasted very fresh and not at all "fishy", the sushi rice was good too. I would definately go back there but also look forward to dining in a more authentic japanese establishment, such as mentioned in reviews above read more
