Wasabi = Lifesaver. After weeks of being deprived of flavor and garlic and asian food, I've finally found my refuge. I'm shook at the low ratings for this establishment, but I happen to have a ton of good things to say about Wasabi so... here we go :) 1. Accessibility - It's everywhere in the UK. London, Cambridge, train stations, just everywhere so you can easily find one when you need it. Love that. I literally get their miso soup like every day. Neeeeed. 2. Taste - It's delicious! The rice was never over- or undercooked, katsu was always crispy, and curry was hot & yummy, and sashimi was also approved by my sensitive stomach :) hmm it's difficult to emphasize with the angry reviews about "low quality sushi" and what not, but ya get what you pay for. Actually, I'd say you get better than what you pay for at Wasabi. While I agree you can def get better quality sushi elsewhere, Wasabi (to me) is like a Subway equivalent in the States, so all things considered, I think it's still delicious for what it is & what it costs. 3. Convenience + options - It's super convenient and the options are endless! There are tons of grab and go options like salads, rolls, bento sets, onigiris, sushi sets, chirashi, and so much more including desserts. When I'm in a hurry, I just grab whatever looks good to me and eat it on my way to somewhere. Easy peasy. If you're craving for more, you can get katsus, curry, yaki, korean chicken wings, and a ton of other hot things. So so delish. 4. Price - It's reallyyy cost effective for what it is. When it comes to food, I don't really consider cost as much as I consider quality & convenience. I never remember how much I paid, but Wasabi's quality is always better than what I pay for because I've come here so many times (more than I can count) to try almost everything on their menu and they have never disappointed me with their quality in hot and cold foods. They deserve more, and I'd even pay more really :) 5. Customer service - there's hardly ever a line for things, because everything is so speedy & efficient. Also, (saved the best for last) the employees are so incredibly kind. Literal angels. I try to come here by myself or with friends whenever possible for a health & palate detox. I hope Wasabi continues to be the wonderful establishment that they are, to bring freshness & flavor & joy into our world that can use more.... um.... garlic maybe ;) read more

Wasabi overall is amazing and fresh. Where this wasabi is located is so convenient as it's in the train station. I mean just got off the train and I'm immediately craving sushi where they've located it is immaculate. Also whenever I go here the staff are so kind and amazing. As far as chain Asian fast food goes, Wasabi is everything you want - it's fast, it's relatively cheap, and portion sizes are pretty big. There's a few small tables right outside, but I'm convinced it's part of their marketing campaign to limit their seating, make the most fragrant rice bowls, and then send people out to the rest of the station to make people wonder what smells so good. At least that's how it worked for me. I ended up getting a chicken katsu curry rice bowl, and at €6.29, you get your money's worth. It's a fast food Japanese shop. I wouldn't come here expecting gourmet food. It's fast, there's actually a decent variety too. The hot food actually looks more like Americanized Chinese cuisine. I got sweet chili chicken which let's face it was more like a sweet General Tso's chicken. It wasn't bad, but it was a bit boring and Americanized Chinese food only tastes so good. Victoria station is rammed full of tasty places to eat, covering most types of food, there are 2 sushi places but Yo! Is upstairs so I've never made it there, I always end up in Wasabi instead. There is a good choice of sushi available, including some wraps you need assemble yourself... Most recently I opted for one of the hot choices available, a teriyaki salmon on rice. The teriyaki sauce is squirted on from a squeeze bottle with a nozzle top, it seems primitive but it's effective. Don't be tempted to ask for extra sauce either, I didn't think there was enough on, but it's pretty potent stuff. Overall a pretty tasty bit of fast food, and even if it's just in my head, it seems like a healthier option to some of the other choices available. read more

I don't mind Wasabi's pre-packed sushi thing they've got going on. It's a really good snack and (especially in this weather) I prefer getting one of their noodle soup pots to getting a sandwich meal-deal elsewhere. BUT every time I go to this particular location of the chain they overcharge me by various amounts, even once by scanning my husbands £7 sushi set in twice! I've missed their mistakes before as well (easy to do when you're rushing for a train) and only realised on my way out of London that I've been shortchanged. Not sure what's going on but I think the staff need a little more till training! read more

Great if you're in a rush for the train or off to the coach station. The store is pretty small and there isn't anywhere to sit, but it's quick to grab something here and you're in the mood for sushi. The menu at each Wasabi is about the same... Prices seem standard across the board... As one of the lesser evils of fast food on the high street. It's not particularly good quality sushi and it's not partially cheap, but it is one of the healthier options if you're in a rush. Sushi is really an art, and whilst the quality of fish is good here, they tend to bulk this up with rice. Most pieces hold together, but are quite haphazard. I tend to opt for a meal option and then add some from their self-selection. I also like the little seaweed triangles and the noodles are just on the side of acceptable if you fancy something hot. I can't comment on service, you don't really need or have the chance to interact with staff. Although the good thing about this is that the queues are usually short! read more

I go through Victoria station a lot. So I visit this branch of Wasabi a lot. It's decent, consistent, not too unhealthy fast food. Wasabi tends to differ its offerings by branch - this is one with cold food chillers and a hot food counter. I personally prefer the pre packed hot food options you get in other branches over this canteen style, but no real complaints! The chicken yaki soba is my favourite mid commute option, but the spicy chicken is pretty damn good too. The chicken katsu pieces are a little dry, and the teriyaki isn't great but overall it's a decent option at the station. Gets pretty busy at peak times though, and the twin queueing system is a little frustrating. read more

The sushi here was quite interesting. There are a couple options, you can get a boxed set or select from several individually wrapped pieces of sushi (priced at around 1 pound for 2). The funny thing about the individually wrapped sushis - they're wrapped up in plastic. I've never seen sushi like that, but it seems convenient... ? I opted for a boxed set with a few salmon nigiri and cucumber rolls. The sushi was just OK. The signs around the restaurant indicate that the sushi is made fresh daily, and that could be true, but sushi made a couple hours ago still doesn't taste as good as fresh made sushi. Most people were in line for the hot food, so I'm guessing that's the best option at this Wasabe location. read more

I can remember a time when sushi was impossibly exotic now there seems to be another sushi-chain opening all the time: veritably, sushi chains appear to be to the Noughties what coffee chains were to the Nineties. Of course, pretty much all sushi eaten from a chain is not authentic as the rice is refrigerated, but the concept would not be viable in a mass-commercial establishment otherwise, I suppose. I was delighted to come across the Victoria branch of this chain and stop by now whenever I'm in the area at lunchtime (which is not often enough). Their display is incredibly pretty and eye-catching: a bank of jewelled sushi right on the concourse. Each piece is individually wrapped (they have a state of the art sushi-wrapping machine from Japan: a sushi robot according to their beautifully-designed website). Prices range from about £1.20 for two pieces upwards. They charge extra for soy, pickled ginger and wasabi (5p each). The selection is very imaginative, wide-ranging (and delicious). The choice of all-individual pieces allows one to compile a box of favourites, as well as sampling more adventurous choices. I love the flexibility this encourages; however, the amount of packaging is pretty alarming from an environmental perspective. They also do a range of cooked meal options, which I must get round to trying one day - I'm too much of a sushi person. read more

Wasabi is part of my 'getting the train home to Brighton' ritual. I have little rituals you see, and I simply cannot get a train from London Victoria without buying something from wasabi. Whether it be a single piece of sushi, a hot bento box or a cold bento box (what I usually opt for), a Wasabi is my little treat for the journey home. I would give the place 5 stars but I personally feel that recently the quality of the hot food has gone downhill slightly. I can't put my finger on what exactly, but it just doesn't taste as good as it used to. I particularly like the katsu salad selection, that comes with a few california rolls and edamame beans with sweet chilli sauce. It's just the right amount of variety and food for me. I was also very pleased to notice that they have started selling BUBBLE TEA! My fave. An extra treat for my journey :) read more

Even though it's in a busy station, this small Wasabi branch keeps things fresh and stocked all day. I appreciate that they have a small seating area as Victoria is largely lacking in places to sit down! The usual Wasabi fare, food-wise. read more

Yesterday I had to grab something for dinner after a long day, I'm a total sucker for japanese food and my sister gushes about this place. I was in love the moment I entered the store, it smelled divine. There was also a large range of cold foods varying from sushi boxes, to individual sushi to ornigiris. I wanted to get hot food and it was so hard choosing. I was torn between the yakisoba noodles and the sweet chilli chicken. I went with the sweet chilli chicken with rice. The staff were quick and efficient and the guy who was pouring the sauce into my bucket left sauce dripping down the side and another guy was quick at cleaning it up (I guess they put him in charge :)) for £4.95 the portion was excellent for the last few bites I had to make room, it was absolutely delicious and if you love spicy spicy food then this is for you but if you can't handle the heat then naaah! I will definitely be eating here again, actually the first thing I did when I got home was look for a wasabi closest to me here in croydon. This is your usual, run of the mill takeout sushi place. While they don't have some of them special things offered in other Wasabi locations (such as bubble tea), they do offer a decent variation of veggie and fish sushi options with a few Japanese desserts available on the side. The best thing about this location is the two queue method at the till (for hot and cold food) and how genuinely speedy the staff are during their lunch rush. I just think Wasabi is okay. I'd really like to try some of their hot foods, but so far I've only gone for the sushi, as I'm always craving it. I appreciate that they have eel, though the amount you get is quite small, I wish they had it as nigiri. The salmon nigiri is really nice, as is the tofu nigiri. I don't like the spicy tuna or spicy salmon rolls very much, however. I do appreciate that it's relatively inexpensive, when it comes to sushi, so I will come back here relatively often, especially since it's on my way home. read more

Well I love Wasabi for the £1.20 onigiri rice balls - three of those and I'm happy! I love the Salmon ones. Wasabi is fab - such great value and for cheap sushi, suprisingly great fish! Handrolls are ok - the california is the best (the tempura prawn is always a bit dry). Only thing I worry about is the un-eco friendly amount of cellophane you get through! read more

When Wasabi first opened in Victoria I was over the moon. Great food, great portions, great prices. Now it seems, the prices are ever increasing and the portions continue to get smaller each time i go there. I went there the other day, and could not believe the price had gone up again, and I only got one scoop of curry on my rice, where you used to get two. The time before that, my curry had only two pieces of chicken, rest was onions and sauce. If I was not on the train I would have taken it back! read more
