Moving is usually very stressful but Rustin and team had a great attitude / work ethic and kept things moving quickly thereby making the overall move much less stressful. They lost many, many items, ruined many items and furniture. Refused responsibility over and over and over again. Rachel, I am starting at the beginning of the move. We were promised two trucks. One short trailer arrived. They were short on blankets, packing cardboard, shrink wrap and tape. They borrowed our packing tape until it ran out and they sent one of your employees to buy some at U-Haul. This was already a red flag. So many of our items were not wrapped or cared for properly. We have moved within the state, and across the country more than once. We have had movers make mistakes, but always own up to the issues and immediately rectify the problems. The people who represent you in the field are hostile, argumentative, defensive, spout Christianity but certainly do not represent. I must say on the front end there was one young man who was polite, kind and always courteous. I do wish I could remember his name. I can assure you his name is not Clinton. This person does not represent you well. He overcharged us on the front end and the owner was kind enough to hear what we were telling him and shocked by what he heard. He said he would take care of us on the back end and to take $400.00 as Clinton had over charged us. The last hour they were there was due to Clinton arguing about how they couldn't have over charged us. I tried to explain to him that so much of the time wasted was because they came so ill prepared to do the job at hand. He kept trying to excuse everything by saying "well we had two trucks break down this week" We asked how was this our fault and how can we be held accountable? Asked why they did not have enough supplies and he just stared at us. Asked him if he were an architect, could he go to work without a pencil or if he were a pro football player could he play without a football. These are tools to the trade. How can these be our fault and cost us time for them to stop to go buy tape? We were told over and over what professionals they all were and how many years of experience they had, but they can without knowing how to remove a safe, enough blankets to protect our possessions, tape, shrink wrap or a trailer big enough to hold our entire order. Had we decided not to take our couch they said they would have had to leave it anyway. As soon as they pulled away, we asked each other how we thought we would find our possessions on the other end. We had no idea when you said you had a storage facility you were speaking of a barn that was extremely hot, contained mice and able to mix our possessions with other people's so as to loose some of our items as well as damage them. We have you address from Mathew and Google Earthed the site. IT IS A BARN. Some of our items are baked. One of our mattress was not covered or wrapped and is filthy and covered with mice excrement. It is about a year old and has been in a mattress cover since with was purchased until pick up by your organization. Several boxes had mice feces on them as well. Our couch had grass and dirt on it. I asked if it was kept in a barn and Clinton said...."you should see one of my blankets, it has pet hair on it" Is that the answer to my question? Upon receipt of our items I began to take pictures and each of your employees began to harass me for taking pictures of our damaged goods. I also took pictures of the items they delivered that were not ours. A really nice red Schwinn bicycle, a framed picture of a small black child (we were asked if we had a "brother" in our family which we found very racist), the top or bottom of something, a package to Kim Hern containing family photos and drawings. We found that stuck in between two of our storage boxes. When the truck was almost empty I asked if they could look for the feet that are missing on a piano stool. One young man said you can come look in the truck if you want, nothing left. I came into the truck and found the glass to our stacking antique bookcase and the feet to the middle of our bed. I kept asking if they had seen the shelves to a cabinet and Clinton said they are here. Don't you remember I packed a couple of boxes for you that day. He packed no boxes for us. Not a one. He charged us for boxes, but did not use said boxes. We are owed for those box charges. I have been told by Mathew, a sales representative at your organization, that never before has this company, Come and Take It Moving, ever mixed up items before and just doesn't believe it now. Well.....how do I have Kim Hern's family photo's? How is it that Kim Hern's items are stored next to mine per Mathew. We had them take the bike back as well as the framed photo. We did not find the other items until after they had left. It is alright to mess up. It is better to fess up and take care of a customer. All that we had to do was pack up our personal desks, and they handled the rest. Then when we got to the temporary office space, we hated the chairs that were provided so we reached out to them again and they delivered our previous chairs directly to the new office and even moved them all inside for us. I found InstaMove through Thumbtack on 12/16 to prepare for a last minute move from Austin to NYC. I just needed labor to load my truck. I had previously used Texas Elite Moving but they required a 2 hour minimum + destination fee and I knew this wouldn't take that long. InstaMove has a one hour minimum so I (regretfully) went with them. Stephanie was easy to work with and quickly booked my appointment via text since I was flying all day. I called that evening when I realized in my rush I had accidentally said 23rd instead of 22nd and Stephanie checked the schedule, confirmed availability for 9:30 am on 12/22 and updated my reservation. On the morning of 12/22 I texted Stephanie around 7 am as I had received no confirmation. Around 8:30 am, Stephanie confirmed the movers were running on time for 9:30 am. Great! We had been hustling night and day to be ready for them and had 400 miles to drive that day and needed to get in the road. By 9:45 am I hadn't seen a mover show up nor gotten any contact. I texted the number I had and she said she'd look into it. 15 minutes went by and no update and I reached out again. I was told there was a clerical error and they're sorting out now. About 30 minutes after my initial text, a manager called me. He explained they had FORGOTTEN MY APPOINTMENT when setting up the trucks for the next day and so the movers had already gone onto the next job. He reassured me, excessively, that they would absolutely have a truck there for me at 2 pm. No doubt about it. Around 30 minutes later, I'd been calling every other mover in Austin but finding someone ASAP on the Sunday before Christmas isn't exactly easy. I asked Stephanie to confirm there will 100% be someone there at 2, as the person who called me had, and she called the movers to confirm. Now suddenly 2 wasn't going to happen. I'm annoyed that no one has been proactively communicating ANYTHING. But they're still promising someone will be showing up, just late in the day. Again--no proactive updates. Around 1:25, a few hours later, I text to get an update on timeline. Stephanie gives me the owners number and tells me to call him. I do--and he rejects the call. Thinking it might be an accident, I call again. He rejects the call. I send a perfectly reasonable text AND THE OWNER IGNORED IT. Like, I'm sorry??? What?? Your company is costing me a day off work, an entire day of truck rental time, a (at this time) 6 hour late start in my move and a TON OF STRESS on a move your team confirmed that morning and YOU CANT REPLY TO A TEXT MESSAGE. It's so ridiculously unprofessional you shouldn't even be a company with that. I let Stephanie the office person know and she continues working on it. While I'd prefer more proactive communication, at least Stephanie consistently replied. Now Stephanie can't even get a hold of the moving team and they're not answering her calls. Again, super unprofessional of their movers to be ignoring their front office. At this point, seeing the writing on the wall, I scramble to find some neighbors who need some holiday cash to help load my truck. I haven't unloaded it so who knows if having to use non professional movers means my tv is broken or who knows what else. But I didn't have ANY options because Instamovr spent all day GUARANTEEING they'd show up only to text me around 4 pm saying they weren't going to show up and not even offering another time slot for the next day. I ended up taking 3 hours with neighbors what should've taken an hour with professional movers. Also, in the middle of all of this, I realized they disabled their thumbtack account. Yes, broken furniture etc is terrible. But no showing a client after promising all day they'd 100% show up is the worst that can happen. And what's worse is the owner wouldn't even acknowledge me when he completely ruined my move. That's completely unforgivable and you shouldn't be in business acting like this. You cost me hundreds of dollars and hours of time and stress and the owner couldn't even apologize himself. The only fix for this business is to close. David, who manages the office and books the jobs did a fantastic job staying in contact with us and working with us to ensure the safety of my family as well as his team. The driveway to our complex was up a steep hill and covered in ice. We were able to reschedule for a move on Monday February 22nd with an early start time. Mojo and Emeka called about 15-20 minutes before arriving and took the instructions well to get to our hard to find apartment unit. They took a brief walk around the unit and decided a plan of attack. Then the clock started. While the move took longer than I had originally expected both of these guys worked hard the entire time. No breaks. No milking the clock. The only two breaks they took were once on the way to deliver when they stopped to pick up rehydration beverages, which they asked for permission to do first and did not charge us for, and the second time was when we offered them food and beverages while unloading. There was minimal/no damage to our property when all was said and done. There were a few marks made in the very narrow stairwell, which the owner promptly came out the next day and cleaned up himself. No knicks, divots, or scratches to any of the walls in our old apartment or the brand new built home we moved into. Before I continue I just want to give every customer a heads up, you can safe yourself and your movers a lot of time by prearranging everything before hand. Take apart beds, take apart sectionals, disconnect washers, dryers, and refrigerators. Anything you can do to make their job as simple as picking up the items and moving it into the truck. The prices they offered across the board by companies in Austin was higher than when I managed a moving company in Austin 13 years ago and even with that being said Jackson was the lowest bid I received and not to mention, their phone lines were never busy and communication was very easy. At the end of the day I was very pleased with the service from EVERYONE in the Jackson's Moving organization and will absolutely use them again in the future. So they only loaded the truck, I drove it across country and on the other side the unloaders could not believe how poorly it was loaded. Something as simple as stacking carboard boxes on top of heavy duty bins was missed. (see photos) They put my $60 target stools upside down so the legs were facing upwards and then put my chairs upholstery side down on those legs... they did this for BOTH of my living room chairs... (see photo) They HAD TRIED to put a mini fridge full on the inside on top of a crate and barrel wooden console with tiny thin legs. I made them NOT do that - much to their chagrin - while they walked all over it inside the truck. They ruined approximately $2000 worth of furniture. All in all - I lost more in damages than the loading even cost, got no help afterwards and I am lucky that I escaped with the damage I had - it could have easily been 2x-3x the amount had I let them stack the fridge on top of the other stuff.
