I was really looking forward to getting a massage with Mr. Lee but due to poor communication this never happened. He seems like a nice gentleman but his scheduling techniques haven't kept up with the times and he still uses pen and paper. I called and made an appointment and as soon as I scheduled it put it in my iCal. I found it odd that I never got a confirmation phone call or text confirming my appointment closer to the date. I show up for my appointment and start getting yelled at by Mr. Lee. He says that I booked the massage for the wrong day and that he's with a client. I say "okay" and walk away. Next thing I know he's chasing me down the block saying "see you booked a week ago and then you called and cancelled the appointment". I never did that. The he goes "you can re-schedule or find someone else." Maybe he didn't like my name because I'm not a white person and so he cancelled my appointment and is blaming me. I'll never know. Wan is a professional massage therapist. He will ask you about your past experience with massage therapists and if you mention malls or franchises he will let you know that they aren't professional. You are mostly receiving a body rub - he was right. I am someone who enjoys massages from local shops or franchises like Massage Envy. Wan had me explain "my story" and from there he took notes. I explained my disability and the pain I've been feeling. From there the massage proceeded, within 25 minutes my leg was behind my head and I can say no other past massage therapist ever did that to me. It was an amazing feeling because it helped !!! I am college student interning for free in D.C. so yes I'm broke, but Wan's fee for $90 for an hour isn't bad compared to other shops. I'd would rather you pay for a real massage than spend $15 less for a body rub. read more

Wan is a great therapist. He is very skilled. If my neck or back is bothering me, he can find the stress-points and release them. Wan is also trained in acupressure and can incorporate that into the session. He sometimes lifts part of my body in the air giving it a good stretch, while at the same time releasing a pressure point below, and/or moving it through a full range of motion. To do this, he sometimes positions his shoulder under my raised arm. His techniques are very effective. Wan's studio is clean and inviting. It is located on the ground floor of a nice brick row house. He has lived in the (H Street) neighborhood for 18 years. He is a tremendous asset to the community. read more

Despite the many options in DC, I am so glad I did my research and found Wan! I have a desk job that gives me the predictable neck and shoulder pain and occasional wrist discomfort that is increasingly getting worse. After getting a 90-minute massage from Wan, I felt better than I ever have after other massages. Wan uses a technique called accupressure which really relieved my neck and shoulders from their daily strain. I felt that he really understood muscle groups and the relationship between them, and his focus on your body really puts overpriced, superficial "massages" to shame. Wan knows what's up. Wan is an extremely patient and kind professional and I highly recommend his service! He is also an amazing watercolor artist, and describes massage therapy as a form of art that he really loves. Mr. Lee is AMAZING! I am a nurse practitioner who spends 14 hours a day on her feet. I was a bedside nurse for more than 10 years prior to that, so I have all of the aches and pains associated with standing all day added to previous back injuries I got as a nurse. I had a bad flare up of that old back injury this week, which got to the point that it hurt even to sit. I went to see Mr. Lee based on previous reviews that mentioned he knew his body mechanics and could focus on specific areas of pain. I was not disappointed! He was able to focus on my specific areas of pain, and used a combo of message, stretching and accupressure to really target those areas. No lie, I was able to walk out with less pain immediately. I started going to Wan many years ago on the advice of my acupuncturist for severe muscle tension in my legs due to a spinal fracture. Pregnant with my first child, I went to Wan for a prenatal massage, to help prepare me for delivery. I wanted to have a natural childbirth but was always told I wouldn't be able to because of my back injury. Also, because of my age, the midwives I was working with told me they would try to induce the baby to deliver a few days ahead of her due date. Four days before this was to happen, I went to Wan to help prepare me for the delivery, and spoke to him about my midwives wanting to strip the membranes. He gave me a thorough massage and sent me on my way. I felt unusually good afterwards, all the tension in my legs was gone. About 12 hours later, I went in to early labor, and 24 hours after that, I delivered my little girl! I have seen Wan post pregnancy as well, and he has helped with edema in one of my legs, and with muscle tension in my arms due to carrying the baby. No exaggeration, every time I go I feel like a little miracle has happened. His place is very private, clean, accessible and pretty. His prices are average to below average and the cost can be submitted to my FSA for reimbursement. I cannot recommend him enough. read more

Mr. Lee was friendly and gave me a good massage. The most important thing to me is that my masseuse has good palpation skills and is focused on solving problems, and Mr. Lee did those things well. He found my trouble spots and spent more time on them. Wan has helped me with so much stuff- a tight IT band, pulled back, plantar fascitis. After I got hit by truck and separated by shoulder, going to see Wan regularly was a big part of how I managed several months aches and pain and restoring the flexibility.
