I was fitted with several pairs of glasses that I needed after a long time. Catherine Lemos is great because she knows so much about the products she sells. The cost of these glasses was high only because I chose a pair that cost more. They do have a lower cost frame, but I wanted lighter weight, style, and a lot of perks for the lenses, which adds to the cost. I am quite happy with the glass frames and lenses she sold me. Be sure to ask for the nose covering that utilitizes silicone around the nose piece. read more

Catherine Lemos did the repair was so fast while we waited - the service was great! I received a call from this company and I had selected the incorrect company name. the company I speak of is the Walnut Creek Eye Medical Group which is at 1855 San Miguel and not 1844 San Miguel on the same street. I would image the negative comments are for the same company I have commented on. WARNING: If friendly, knowledgeable customer service is important to you when purchasing eyewear, this ISN'T the place. I'd done business with this company for years. The store is adjacent to my ophthalmologist's office and their staff was professionally affiliated with the doctor's practice. The friendly and knowledgeable customer service I once enjoyed no longer exists. What happened? I found out today why. The new employees, hired by an outside management company, are the absolute antithesis. Unreturned phone calls, rude and surly replies. Total unprofessionalism. Fortunately, there are plenty of other good options in our area. read more

1 star is being generous and is the lowest possible choice allowed. This establishment makes it very difficult to do business with them. Closed for lunch everyday and closes early before noon on Fridays. The first time we went there it was 20 minutes before closing and we were told we could not be helped because they were closing at 5:00. The second time we went was on a Friday at 1:00 and found that they close at 11:30 on Fridays. The third time we were told that we had to wait next door because she was helping someone else, yet when we were finally helped, she allowed another customer to come in and browse the selection. We ordered glasses and then later learned that my insurance provided better coverage than my wife's. We went back to the store first thing the next morning (a Friday) and they were unexpectedly closed that day. When I finally connected with them on Monday morning I was told that since the lab already started on the glasses and they have a "no cancellation policy" they could not make any changes to the insurance billing. If you need glasses, save yourself the trouble and frustration dealing with this establishment. there are better providers out there that actually let you cancel or even return an order with no questions asked. read more

I needed lenses for my son in a new frame I bought in Italy. Very low prescription and we have VSP insurance. I told them he only uses them to watch tv, so basic lenses is what I was looking for. They run the insurance and told me it would be $204. I asked how it could be so high with insurance and the salesperson, after much insistence on my part, told me she had selected the highest cost option for the lenses and added built in blue light, which was completely unnecessary as he does not use glasses for electronic devices. They also charge $25 if you bring your own frame, which nobody else does and it is thievery. I had never heard of a "corkage fee" for glasses. I went to a different store that takes VSP and they told me I owed nothing, because VSP covers the lenses completely. I ordered them there of course and then went back to Walnut Creek Optical to complain. The salesperson was defensive and rude, she finally told me "since VSP pays for the lenses, why not add some fancier features?". Because that should be my choice and it should be offered to me as an option, not decided by her to make her business more money. Now I know they overcharged me in the past and I will never go there again. I was shocked by such dishonesty. read more

This place is terrible and needs to work on their customer service. They rarely answer their phone (I left 5 messages and no callback) and have tons of excuses for when things going wrong. I ordered 2 pair of new glasses. It is now 5 weeks later and I still don't have my regular pair only the sunglasses. I need to get my glasses as I am forced to drive with an old pair that i can barely see out of. I finally got the sunglasses after a month but they were too big. When I complained, they tried to bend them to fit but that still not good. Because I don't have another pair that I can see properly out of, I am forced to keep these badly fitting glasses and i am still waiting on my regular glasses. Bought eyeglasses here. I have a difficult time knowing what actually looks decent on me. One of the opticians, Adriana, really had an ability to see the structure of my face and choose some frames that would work for me. She recommended a design that I would not normally chose. Yet I am more pleased with the quality, shape and color of these than any others I have purchased. Glasses are a part of every day of your life. I am grateful for her spending time with me. I needed new nose pads and the sales people were busy. The Optometrist came out and told me he would charge me $12. This is a procedure most Opticians either do as a courtesy or charge $5. I told him I would go elsewhere. How foolish and greedy is that? I would never return to this business for new eyeglasses. read more

Walnut Creek Optical has recently taken over the former Tice Valley Optical store near Rossmoor. I tried them and find their service lacking. First, they made a pair of glasses for me and forgot the transition lenses for which I'd already paid. Then. when I called today about the replacement lenses they have on order they asked me to call back as they were too busy to speak with me. I guess I'll have to go back to the big chains. I paid $100 more for the service and convenience of a local merchant and got neither. read more

She has a talent for helping you find the right frame. I've always been fearful of picking out new glasses, but not anymore. Not sure what Barry E. is talking about. I have had nothing but amazing experiences at Walnut Creek Optical. I've been a loyal client for more than 15 years and highly recommend their services. The office is divided up into two sections. One part of the office is a doctor's office and the other part of the office is a retail optical store. I look forward to my annual check-ups as all of the doctors are very kind and knowledgeable. Throughout the years, I have had appointments with Dr. Chan, Dr. Barakeh, and Dr. Wang. I highly recommend them if you are looking for an Optometrist. After my check-ups, I always stop by the retail store to select a new pair of glasses. The ladies at the retail store are great and really make you feel at home as you are always greeted with a smile. They are very patient and will take the time to order glasses for you if they do not have a particular style of a brand that they carry. It really is hard to find such great service like this nowadays and for that reason I continue to come back and do my business at Walnut Creek Optical. read more
