This place is hella freakin ghetto to the max!!! (mainly the people and the area, so to speak). The aisles either wreak of nasty weed or remnants of spoiled rotten food. I've gone there a couple of times, and every single time, there's shampoo that's been spilled all over the floor or some gooey gunk that looks like it's been there for days. I've told employees about the mess, and they look at me crazy or they just didnt understand what the hell I was saying. The store is NOT 24 hours, and I guess that's a good thing...you'd probably get mugged in the middle of the night. Bathrooms are horrendous. There's urine and feces every where, especially in the bathroom on the bottom floor. Some of the employees have such a bad attitude. The frozen food aisle had some expired food in stock. Make sure to check the expiration dates on all items before purchasing them. It's best to go the Super Walmart in American Canyon. read more

This Walmart is ghetto. I had one incident when I turned away from my cart for a minute in the frozen food section. I had milk, toilet paper holder reserve and another item in my cart. When I go back to my cart, my toilet paper holder reserve was gone. Wtf, I literally turned my back for less than a minute and that was the last silver holder in stock. Also, it seems that every time I come to this Walmart for a specific thing, they are out of stock. Awful! No customer service. I told manager lines were backed up, I called store twice to talk to manager, never got one, finally 10 mins I heard them call for checkers over intercom. No one came and only one of 4 checkers lights were on. I got charged twice for an item, they wanted me to wait in line again. I insisted a manager reverse it. I ordered a phone case online and whenever I clicked at checkout, it said please try again as it didn't go through, so I waited and it wouldn't go through the second time. I checked my bank account and it came out, so I called 800-Walmart and a gal answered, but couldn't help me as she said she didn't see the order, because I had no order number, so I asked for a manager and she couldn't get me one. Too many excuses. She told me to call my bank and dispute. I have a serious Love-Hate relationship with this Walmart. The only good thing working for this particular store is that it's conveniently located in the heart of Contra Costa and easily accessible off the I-80 freeway. It's less than 10mins from my home so I no longer have to drive all the way to the Martinez store. Sadly, many small business in the mall closed due to this Walmart opening it's doors. But what can you do..It's quite evident that large corporations will tend to succeed in this economy. But..(yes, there's always a 'but'!)..this store needs one big intervention. The people who work there-- they don't know crap about the the products the company sells. Forget that, they don't even know where products are located in the store! You're better off calling and asking a family or friend where something is located in that store. I can't say the actual store is "dirty" because I've experienced worse (San Leandro Walmart) but it can be cluttered, especially on inventory days. They're not in any rush to unload and organize the newly received goods so you'll see it sitting on a crate in the middle of a walkway. Not very attractive. The lines can be very long; but if you're smart enough and use the registers on the 2nd floor then you might just be able to get out of there within a few minutes of standing in line. read more

I went into walmart and they had this blackstone grill advertised for $247 and I took it up to the register to purchase it. Once they rang me up they said it was $58 because the item was missing parts. I then asked for another grill with all the parts and said it was $469 with all the parts. (This won't be TMI, I promise) I had to use the restroom, so I approached the entryway, which led me into a sort hallway that curved around like a "z". While using the facilities, I suddenly heard a woman SCREAMING---"I'm stuck, I'm stuck! WalMart HATES DISABLED PEOPLE." Oh. My. God. What went on, you wonder? A woman who was using a wheelchair tried to make it through the entryway but couldn't because the wheelchair couldn't make it through the "z" hallway. She had to go to the bathroom, so she attempted to get out of her wheelchair and walk as best as she could to the stall. While in the hallway she fell down and couldn't make it back to her chair. It was HORRIBLE. This happened about six months ago and I haven't been back to this location since. I now know why WalMart has the reputation it does. read more

I went to return an Internet router, that a young salesperson assisted me with purchasing just two days before. I found out that it wasn't 'wireless' as I had clearly requested. Anyway, I come into the store to do my return and was stopped abruptly at the door to 'register' the item. They said that I needed proof that I walked into the store with the item, a sticker with a bar code.... even though I had my receipt in my hand. Hummmm. As he inspected the item with his bar code scanner, he asked me..."Did you buy this item here?" . Returned 2 pairs of sandals with a Receipt. Lost my debit card that was used, so asked for cash... I was told that Walmart doesn't do that anymore. I came here browsing for some stuff like household items and I was surprised there was not a shopping cart in sight! I asked some dude that looks like he works there where they were and I had to ask two times! It's like they don't even work there. Unprofessional customer service. The clothing section is decent, but the shoe section is a little messy. The food section is pretty tidy and they have good prices. The makeup/skincare section however was a mess! I could not find shit. It's like half of the products were missing and very disorganized. I bought a liquid concealer, seeing that the box still had the sticker on it but when I got home, it doesn't even look like it was new! Finally found something I have been looking everywhere for -- that I couldn't even order online -- at the Walmart at Hilltop Mall. Their website says that for pick up, associates will load your purchases into your trunk. So I expected contactless pick up. Wrong! I drove around and around and finally got someone in the store on the phone.The pick up kiosk is inside the store, which means you have to figure out which of the two entrances on two different levels to line up at. Wait, go inside, and, wrong entrance, go all the way through the store.When I went today, they were very long lines at each entrance. , Needless to say, I didn't and will not pick up my order. read more

This store is disgusting and dirty. The signage is old and grimy. I don't know how this store hasn't lost their franchise. The employees are rude and unhelpful. I tried to ask one of them where to find something, but when she saw me coming she ignored me, turned and walked away quickly. The next person I tried to ask was too busy talking on her cell phone to help me. I had a hard time navigating the isles because other customers would walk out directly in front of me and my trolley as I was walking and stop in front of me to do their shopping, disregarding my trying to get by. Iin the food section, people were walking around eating the food and drinking beverages without paying for them. When they were done they'd hide the partially consumed item behind other items on the shelves, or just throw it on the floor and walk away. The place was noisy and loud. It was full of bad parents hitting and yelling at their kids. As I walked around I started counting how many parents I saw abusing their children and lost count after six or seven. Once the sound of screaming children and yelling parents was too much for me I gave up on trying to find the items I was shopping for and left. Being a naive middle class citizen in a bubble of comfortable happiness I sometimes forget that awful places like this exist. By contrast, I went next to the Walmart in San Leandro. It was clean and contemporary, the shoppers were pleasant and polite and the staff was helpful and actually wanted to help me. read more

This is by far the worst pharmacy ever. I called to get my prescription because I lost the bottle to be able to do my refill online. I was transferred 5 times and each time to a different department and then the last time I transferred it was to the pharmacy and they answered and hung up. The Hilltop store is dirty and messy. I went there in the middle of the week and the shelves were empty. Hello people...restock!!! I've only been there once to shop but was not a fan. I was with a friend and he was looking for something specific in the electronics department. We made a beeline to that department but I couldn't help but notice how unkept the store is. I felt so uncomfortable with the mess that I wanted to leave ASAP. I also hesistantly went back to return something that I bought from the Walmart Supercenter which, by the way, is a much better store. I stood in line for over 30 minutes, got frustrated and left. The staff at the counter were clueless, it was the blind leading the blind. A couple of days later I tried again, same outcome. Needless to say, the item is still in the trunk of my car. The store is hella ghetts but if you can get past that, I'm sure you'll find some good deals. This is the closest store to me but nope, you'll catch me at Target instead. If I must be at a Walmart, it would be at the Supercenter in American Canyon, my go-to place for Christmas shopping in the middle of the night. read more

i hate the fact that Walmart is a monopoly. No matter how many bad reviews they get, they will still succeed. I'm going to rant about it anyways. I wanted a portable tire inflator so that I can pump air into my tires whenever needed so that I don't have to go to the gas stations for it. I researched online and found one "Slime Pro Power Heavy-Duty Tire Inflator". It had really good reviews on Amazon. However, I price checked and saw Walmart had the same one for $37.97. I put in my zip code and it was still for the same price and they had it in stock. I figure I should just swing by and pick it up since Walmart is not that far away and I don't have to wait for shipping if I bought it from Amazon. I printed Walmart's webpage to ensure I get the right model number etc. When I arrived, the price was $56 something dollars. Plus tax and everything that would have been over $60 bucks. That's a huge difference from the online price! I took it to the register and spoke to the cashier about how huge the price difference is. He said, Yes, this is normal. I responded, well do you price match your own prices? He said no. I spoke with 2 managers. They said the same thing. One of the managers suggested buying it online and do site to store and I can get it today. She said to use the computer they have available in Electronics. I went to Electronics, the computer wasn't working. So I put the order in with my phone. I showed the manager my confirmation and payment approval. She said, okay, come back later. It may take 3 hours. WTF. That was the only thing that I could have said. Not only do you not price match your own store, you're going to make me wait for the "site to store" process to finish that may take 3 hours??? Unbelievable. Don't bother coming here. Sure, spend a little more gas and drive to the one in Vallejo. Why? Well: Here the items are unorganized and for some reason customers with carts LOVE STANDING in places where people need to get through. The environment is very unprofessional and so are the workers. I mean, when the employee's make an announcement on the intercom it sounds like they're trying to get a job hosting a radio station, come on! In their electronic department, the digital camera sections are a mess. They wont turn on and look like people have tried to steal them.. goodness. I would give it a one but the products I purchased were cheap. Their 1/2 gallon of milk takes two weeks to expire unlike other supermarkets take about 6 days. I don't buy clothing for Wal-Mart (i'm against their clothing manufacturing..) but cosmetics, accessories, water, etc., are half the price of supermarkets and Target/Walgreen's. I'm being nice and giving Wal-Mart three stars because they typically have exactly what I'm coming in for. I'm a loyal Target customer but there are times I come in here for one reason or another. I've only entered this store maybe five or six times since it opened and I try to avoid it. The only section I really visit is the media section. Their DVD and Blu-ray (lack of) selection is pretty mediocre. The times I do come in is because a specific title is on sale and Amazon has neglected to price match. The employees are never at the register in the media section and force me to wander and find a register to pay for my item(s). I guess if you're a baby momma, single, and broke; Wal-Mart can stretch your dollar further than most places. I guess that's why the Wal-Mart corporation strategically put one at the Hilltop Mall. Why: 1) always out of stock of items I need, and requests to customer service accomplish nothing. Many wasted trips in the past to this store. 2) unbelievably poor customer service. Every phone call and every time I had to return an item is an exercise in frustration. 3) not the store's fault, but the area is disgusting and not entirely safe.
