Came here for three bulk items. I got to the check stand to find over 50 people in line and just two check stands open. Unacceptable. The lines were midway through the store and there wasn't space to walk through aisles. I left without my items. There should be someone controlling crowds and someone weaving through the check stands to help with bagging and price checks then there should be at least 4 check stands open during peak hours. Convenience is the point. I'll only go here first thing in the morning now. read more

Was grabbing candy and your associate noticed I was grabbing candy from top shelf (which I do on a weekly basis) instead of helping me as a customer she gave me attitude and said I couldn't grab an item, had to go to register (since you don't have buttons for locked up items) she could have grabbed keys and helped me purchase about $400 worth of products but instead lost a customer to a different store now. Coworker worked on 11/4 with red braids needs to get removed from sales floor to be retrained from beginning to end. Omg!!!! I havent been here to this atore in bout month n half 2 mos maybe. It just wasn't like the other stores never fully stocked, dirty, rude cashiers. There were items out of place everywhere. But i needed some items n i was near store. I walked in and thought I was list! This store is unrecognizable!!!! Like night n day!!!! I must say im beyond impressed. My go to groceries store for all the staples. They must be under new management prepping for the holidays because they had all the lines open today. There was an older gentlemen helping customers navigate the lines, you could tell he was in charge. Greatly appreciated. As a working mom, wife, student, and all that good stuff yeah I needed to make a grocery store run but I didn't want to so I googled smart and final to see if they had a delivery/pick up service and to my surprise (maybe I was late) they did. Went in and setup my online order account and filled my cart and chose my delivery window. Once it got close to time to my delivery time a personals shopper reached out to me (wow nice). The personal shopper texted me and kept in contact with me the whole time that they were pulling my order and even let me know when things were not in-stock and offered alternatives (some of my items that I requested were not available even though they were marked as in stock on the website). When the personal shopper delivered the groceries they even texted me when they completed the delivery. When I got home of course I checked everything and to my surprise everything was was there and accounted for the produce looked good (not overly ripe or under ripe) and my eggs were not broken!! (I have used other services and my eggs were always broken #sadface). This service saved me plenty of time to enjoy my evening with my family and skip a time consuming chore. This is located in a small plaza in city of San Pablo. There's always quite a few people at this location and every time I come here there's a long line inside for check out. Covid restriction wise most people do you follow the rules. This is a great place for discounted items including fresh groceries, frozen goods, dessert, and snacks. You can buy things in large packages or bulk is great. Prices are fairly reasonable and on the lower end so that's why a lot of people so come here. I do suggest that when you park in this location be careful because a lot of people push shopping carts all over the plaza. So if you're parked at a slant there's a chance that a shopping cart can't accidentally roll down and hurt your car. I've seen this happen multiple times. read more

I'm surprised to find I haven't reviewed this store, since I've shopped here for years. This is where I buy Kleenex, gum, mints and household cleaners. I've bought massive briskets, big enough they needed to be cut in half, or in thirds before cooking. Today was the second time I've shopped here during the COVID pandemic. The first time the checkout process didn't go quite as smoothly as it did today, but that was early days. Masks are required and there's a hand sanitizer dispenser where you enter. I have been on the lookout for Hebrew Nation salami, which has disappeared from the stores, and it's not here either, but I came for Kleenex and Windex and found them both. I wandered the aisles looking for other things I might need, but there was nothing. This time I knew where the line to check out was, so I went right there. There are the usual 6 foot social distancing markers, these w/ funny sayings on them, and the line moved very quickly. As a customer finishes checking out the checkstand number is announced so the next customer can come and start unloading their goods from their cart. The checker was friendly and helpful. Great discounted prices. Big selection of snacks for feeding large parties. Seems like a lot of people shop here. There's so much turnover of product. Sometimes I come back and can't find something that was on the shelf last week. Not too many cashiers but there are friendly ones especially in the morning. Randomly they'll have a security guard in the front and the one time I go there's a super grouchy one who barks at people who go down a signless aisle she doesn't want them to. I'll be back and will buy more of my favorite items since people buy them so quickly! read more

Oh boy bad experience here. I needed to get something specific and arrived at 950 pm. They had already shut the doors and were monitoring who can go in. They wouldn't let me in for one item for my child. I called and found out they were not supposed to shut the doors until 5 mins before closing. I guess getting out on a Friday was more important than serving their customers. read more

We are very sad about what happened this night at smart and final, me and my family shop here for over 5 years and today we came to the store without using a mask they Did not had any signal saying that we could not enter with no masks we shopped and when we came to the register the manager looked at us and told us to leave and I asked her would you give me a mask or sell me a mask I don't have any and I'm very late, she refuse to help me then a crazy lady came over screaming over me telling me to leave I did not had time to call the police me and my husband we are fully vaccinated they were racist with us because we are Latinos stores are required to provide masks for clients that don't have any, I was not refusing to wear a mask I just didn't have any with me, very sad the way they treated us, what would cost then to help us we had al the items that we need to buy but they refused to let us pay. read more

This is the place to go for your strange pandemic comfort needs. As we trudge forward through the pandemic, we've somehow made it past the toilet paper hysteria by buying a bidet, then got a gallon of industrial strength sanitizer and assembled PPE for every occasion. But it wasn't enough. Costco quit selling the massive bag of Nestle's chocolate chips and replaced it with Kirkland brand. No bueno. So I stalked the internet. Briefly I contemplated getting a Sam's Club membership, then considered getting a 25 pound bag, but stopped myself in the nick of time. Yes, Smart and Final carries it, but smart pandemic shoppers like I am kept grabbing them all. So I called and explained I felt ill-prepared to deal with the surge of coronavirus cases while I am out of my Big Bag of chocolate chips. Sympathetically chuckling, I was told to call ahead and I could find out when the re-order was placed and when product arrived. What a relief! The morning I called, it was there! I rushed over and discovered a few more things I didn't realize I needed so was even happier. The single line for the register was long, but as promised the line moved quickly. Lately the selection at this location has gone downhill. Some veggies are wilted and already brown. The real kicker is the meat selection. This was my go to spot for meats for their freshness, selection and price. But as of the last few weeks it's been abysmal. Very few cuts. What's most alarming is the state of the meats. Some look grayish around the edges and a few are even green. I'm not sure that's a good thing. If you're not buying meats, you're good. Pretty sweet selection of dried foods and goods. Parking lot needs new paint. It was difficult to see the lines in the rain. Two other chaps had similar issues. A clean and brightly lit store and friendly staff greeted me. I needed hundreds of paper grocery bags. An employee took me right to them. Another employee got a shopping carriage for me when they saw me struggling with the 300 paper bags. My favourite supermarket. It's close to home and even thou it's more of a buy in a bulk stuff going on here, the prices are still reasonable. Sometimes it's hard to find parking thou bit that only happens once in a blue moon. Sometimes things go on special especially the chicken. There was a time when I bought chicken drumstick for 49 cents per pound. I think it was during thanksgiving and there was a manager special going on. I went in with my kids to buy snacks for school and she just threw my items while one of my kids was at the end of the check stand to help with the bags! This is my new favorite grocery store, and I am proud to leave them a great review. I was trying to buy paper products and wine for our company party, and knowing that I like to save money, my mother told me to go to Smart & Final. Life and work happened, but when I was finally able to go, I was shocked at the huge size, the friendliness of the staff, the amazing choice of products and the fantastic prices. Holy crap, the prices! The aisles are wide, and can easily fit two carts side-by-side. The alcohol section has a great selection of wine at all price levels. Best of all, they have both a produce and a meat section, and I have been very pleased with the items I have purchased. To try to keep this balanced, here are the cons: I didn't see any organic products, so keep that in mind if it's a requirement of yours. My daughter is way past the diaper stage, but I still notice the bathroom amenities: the women's bathroom does not have any sort of changing station, even though there is ample room for one. If you have children in diapers, and this is a choice for you, I'd stick one of those plastic pads in your bag. This place is not baby friendly and I suggest someone get on top of this pronto!!! My 6 month old had a really big accident just as we pulled up to the store. I rushed inside the bathroom with my baby in hand and my 6 year old niece trying to catch up. Poor baby had poop all over himself, even up his back!!! I had to use toilet seat covers to wipe most of his poop off him because they ran out of tissue paper. And worst of all, they did not have a baby changing table. I placed his precious butt on my backpack as I tried to put his diaper on, no luck. This little boy loves to twist and turn! I tried to hold his body still while my niece tried to hold his legs still and finally... diaper is on. It's a bit crooked but it's on. While we were trying to put his diaper on, some lady and her 2 kids were banging on the door yelling for us to hurry. Really? You try to put a diaper on a 6 month old while his body is the air! No other mother should have to go through this. Please install a baby changing table ASAP!!! PS. I bought hamburger patties, got distracted by all this and I forgot to buy hamburger buns! This location has a great produce section, as well as great meat options, which don't have to be purchased in bulk like many of their other products. Obviously, this is the kind of store you come to when you want to buy large quantities of things for a big family or a restaurant or party. They have a lackluster wine section, but do sell all the classic spirits and beverages. Every time I come here there is always a long line to check out, which is one of the things that will often make me choose another store, despite the fact that this is closer to my house. read more
