Great concept! Fresh take-out from local restaurants. So many classics and things that are new to me. If you love Thai food, this is literally a visual menu! We choose many things to try including khao soy, duck noodles with broth on the side, and crab pad Thai. All were tasty and delicious. The desserts were very tasty as well; sticky rice banana wrapped in ti leaves, and crunchy fried cookies with black sesame. Delicious. The store also sells Thai cooking ingredients and other snacks, beverages and condiments and frozen specialities. This was a treasure-filled find. If you want Thai food and don't want to commit to dining in, this is a great concept to choose what you're craving, and taking it to-go! Win-win!!

Thai delicacies galore!

Curry puffs, pad kee mao, khao soi, mango and sticky rice (when mangoes are in season), papaya salad, and so much more can be found on the weekends in this tiny El Cerrito grocery. The shelves groan under the weight of delicious prepared Thai food that's well-priced. Roong Jing Jing has become a Saturday tradition for us. The offerings change frequently according to season (and other factors that I'm not sure of) so every visit has some element of discovery. My daughter loves the rice cakes and looking at all of the brightly colored Thai desserts. I recommend coming with an open mind and arriving early.

Definitely would recommend this hidden gem! Has seasonings I can't find anywhere else! Saturday mornings they also have fresh food from local nearby restaurants! Definitely a must try!

The woman working was sweet and friendly. Small shop with a ton of Thai goodies- groceries and supplies, as well as ready to eat foods! I grabbed a selection of items today to try out and will be going back to try and catch the saku!

My new favorite place. If you love Thai food and sweets, this will be your favorite place too. I recently learned about their amazing Saturdays. Aka the day they have cooked food and desserts (prepared by different local businesses) available for purchase. And so I dragged my boyfriend to go with me this past Saturday lol. Got there around noon and it wasn't too busy and the selection of food was plentiful. There was just a couple of people inside, but the store is a little small, so you may have to navigate around people if it does get busier. The people working there were nice and smiley (land of smiles!). All the food is stacked on racks and shelves around the store - clearly labeled and most (not all) will have marked prices on them. You will find all sorts of dishes here - ranging from the typical pad thai and pad see ew to things you might not typically see at a lot of Thai restaurants. Out of the things we purchased, I enjoyed the Garden Rolls, Larb Beef, and Khao Soi the most. I feel like the food here tries to pack a more authentic amount of heat and acidity that is synonymous to Thai cuisine, which I highly appreciate. Make sure you make room for dessert because the selection here is HUGE. I studied abroad in Thailand years ago and I saw desserts here that I have not seen since I was in Thailand! Ony thing is, I do think some of the desserts are overpriced so :( Anyways, this is the real deal here. I hope you don't go or tell anyone else so this can remain a little secret piece of heaven.

***Pre-COVID review*** Found this place by accident as wifey was browsing through Yelp while we were filling up on gas at nearby Costco. Luckily, it was on a Saturday so they had the packaged food still available. We quickly drove here and even though it was later in the afternoon, they still had a few left and grabbed whatever we thought were good. Honestly though, everything looked good. We were also greeted by a nice gentleman, who was cheerful, friendly and helpful. When we got home, couldn't wait to open them up and enjoyed the wonderful combinations of textures, flavors and fresh herbs. As delicious as they were, we wanted to return the following Saturday and get here earlier so we can get dibs on whatever came that day. When we asked the gentlemen if they got the same type of food shipment every Saturday, he replied that it varies. That didn't deter us so we returned the following Saturday and was impressed by their selections. My eyes were bulging as I went "Takaw Mata" which is a Filipino phrase that is loosely translated into greedy eyes. Wifey got more mangoes, similar to what we purchased the previous week and whatever else looked good. I'm not too familiar or remember their names, but the most memorable dish was a ground pork wrapped in some type of rice noodle that came with fresh herbs and some awesome-tasting sauce. And whatever we got, the quality, freshness and the herbs were all so impressive and delicious. They also have a variety of desserts that are very similar to Filipino desserts as the majority of them are made from rice. They also have a good selection of fresh fruits, including some frozen durian. Wifey loves that stuff, but I've tried it and it's not my cup of tea. Since it's also a Thai grocery store, this is certainly the place to go for Thai ingredients that they may not sell at your local 99 Ranch or Asian grocery stores as they specialize primarily for the Thai community. I definitely wanna learn more about their fascinating cuisines and this is a great place to start. Come here early on Saturdays and check 'em out yourself. #YelpChallenge2020 review No. 87

Saturday morning - 5 max people in the store. Masks on. Social distancing. Parking in the plaza out front.

Packaged Thai food goodness! With Covid Times there is restriction to wearing a along with 5 people max in the small store. In the store you'll find A TON of freshly packaged food items ranging from soups, curries, noodles, and desserts. They get these deliveries Saturday morning so if you want the best selection, go then.

I'm not sure there is better Thai food available nearby than there is delivered here on Saturday mornings. Such a sweet couple, too.

I visited Nepal once two decades ago and was lucky enough to share a meal with my local guide and his family. I remember that meal well because his wife had to go to the next door neighbor to find me a fork. I know there was a lot of dal and peas in their diet, and sure enough, there's a huge variety to be found here in individual bags (photo: http://bit.ly/2qw6aMu). Four Nepalese friends decided to open this small but nicely organized grocery store a couple of years ago. It was a delight to explore the aisles for spices, mustard oil (photo: http://bit.ly/2HnZV75), pickles (photo: http://bit.ly/2GXbSRB), and even incense (photo: http://bit.ly/2qxqzRh). Jamie W. and I were tempted by the many exotic items on hand like the hard-dried cheese candies (photo: http://bit.ly/2quXh5J) but settled on a bag of unskinned coconut slices that were thankfully unsweetened as well a bag of chana dal that we added later to a mixed lentil soup (photo: http://bit.ly/2GYBrlm). There was quite a treasure trove of unusual delights in here, definitely worthwhile to peruse in order to find your inner sherpa.

The only downside is that some of the items aren't labeled with their prices.

I rate this restaurant very highly, thank you check please Bay Area!…read moreFirst of all, plenty of parking on the street with mini Solano Avenue shops to pop your head in. The staff at the restaurant are all very kind and welcoming. They seem to really care about your experience. The setting is quite unique: you're surrounded by a Korean small market yet outside the doors you're in getaway of a back patio with trees and foliage surrounding you. Quite serene. As for the food, the menu is quite vast, which I am happy about since I will be back to try everything! This was our second visit and during our first trip we were very happy with the three items we ordered, Rosé rice cakes, Dupp bop spicy pork belly, and Jang pasta w/ pork belly. My wife and I loved the duck bop spicy pork belly because it was not just a huge cube of meat, but instead, it was sliced fin to take on a lot of the good sauce. Today I had the lunch special, which left me extremely satisfied. The portion size was large as I'm a rather large eater anyway... The Bulgogi beef was seasoned perfectly over a bit of cabbage or greens, white rice, and the kimchi spicy pork belly soup as you will see in the image was bubbling hot. Superb but watch out if you can't handle the heat as it is a bit spicy. I would say the prices are fair as well. Reservations were not necessary and attire is very casual.

Starting with an arresting blow-up of Italian movie star Monica Vitti behind the checkout, it's a visually pleasing emporium because it's not overcrowded with idiosyncratic products. The wine collection is particularly interesting with labels unknown to me. I've been tempted by the delectables in the Grab & Go section, but I've demurred for the sake of discretion. In fact, having almost no knowledge of any of these products, I only recently bought something here because I want to support them. I got a box of Rooibos tea and a jar of Hawaiian masala (Photo 10). I look forward to buying more in the future, though one thought I had was that this store would benefit from samples. On a previous visit, there was a bakery pop-up in front (Photo 8), and I think more of that activity could encourage more in-store traffic. It'll be interesting to see how this business evolves. You get the best of both spices in one! They got the type of atmosphere that I love for dinner time -- dim lit for that cozy, intimate, and moody vibe mix with their cultural decors. I appreciate their intentional design with their lightings. Tables toward the wall get a mini lit candle per table, the middle row gets table lights, and then towards the back with banquette seatings, they get the overhead lamps. The server was super helpful with food choices and recommendations. Every dish was superb and divine. Tom yum soup - looks basic as they didn't serve it in those traditional fire pot but the flavors were vibrant. Not too sour and not too spicy, executed just with the right balance. Yum woon sen salad - one of my favorite Thai dish I get at most Thai restaurants. Their spicy chili lime dressing was sooooo appetizing, you just don't want to stop. It's light yet refreshing and you just want to drink the sauce afterwards. Jung goh sizzling plate - amazing flavors so get your rice ready. The dish itself wasn't saucy but it's almost like the sauce got soaked into every beef bite, coating it well. This was a great recommendation from the server! Thai iced tea - as you can tell my the photo, looks like sweetness took over haha. This was on the sweeter side imo compared to the coffee ratio. If you like a sweeter coffee, this is your choice. Mango sticky rice - at this point, we literally devoured all the dishes we've ordered BUT how can we leave this one behind? When it came, I thought the mango color looked underripe so inner me was like naurrrrrrr. But by surprise, it was super ripe and the sticky rice had just the right amount of sweetness. So again, devoured. Everything was amazing. Would definitely come back and try more dishes!
