Snacks galore
Karen Y.

This cute little Japanese store has a lot of snacks and Japanese household items for sale. I came here around noon on a Sunday and lots of the prepared foods were gone. I grabbed a few snacks and some Japanese rice. Service was friendly and respectful. The ladies spoke Japanese.

Dinner!

Favorite Japanese shop - snacks, food, drinks, frozen food, etc. The staff are always really friendly and helpful. It's a one stop shop. They have sake and beer also. Sashimi and prepared foods. The selection is really superb. It's just further away from where I live in Oakland so I don't come as often as I'd like to. But a very clean and well run shop!

Great Japanese market, super convenient also! Wide selection of chilled drinks, fresh fish, 6 kinds of furikake, among many other things!

The long hair Asian guy is extremely rude... wouldn't go back again. Pricing is high too.

A hidden gem that sells beef tataki and fresh ogo seaweed in Berkeley! However, the vegetables and fruits are a bit overpriced.

It's on Solano Avenue so it's in an area with a lot of other food spots. They have great friendly service that made us feel welcomed when we entered the store. We got their Spicy Pork Belly Rice Bowl, Beef Tofu Soup, Rose Tteokbokki, and Spicy Cold Noodles. I personally liked the rice bowl and the tofu soup the best! They both had a nice comforting vibe to each dish that I really liked. Their cold noodles and rose tteokbokki were not bad either, but I personally didn't find them to be too memorable. They have a cute patio in the back that we didn't get to sit at, but I heard is very cute. I'd love to come back to try their lunch sets as well! Overall, solid Korean restaurant - definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a Korean spot in Berkeley!

I recently stopped by Korean Superette and really enjoyed my meal. I ordered the Yangnyeom Chicken…read morePlate, and it was excellent--crispy chicken coated in a savory, flavorful sauce with just the right amount of heat. Not overly spicy, just well-balanced and delicious. The plate came with rice, broccoli, and a selection of traditional banchan, which rounded out the meal nicely. I also ordered a glass of Chardonnay and was pleasantly surprised by the generous pour. Bonus points for that! I chose to sit on the back patio, which is absolutely delightful and made for a relaxed, enjoyable dining experience. Between the tasty food, pleasant atmosphere, and friendly service, this is definitely a place I'll be returning to. Highly recommended.

This compact specialty market has been open for over a year, and I really like how the merchandise…read morereflects local purveyors with no corporate brands. Starting with an arresting blow-up of Italian movie star Monica Vitti behind the checkout, it's a visually pleasing emporium because it's not overcrowded with idiosyncratic products. The wine collection is particularly interesting with labels unknown to me. I've been tempted by the delectables in the Grab & Go section, but I've demurred for the sake of discretion. In fact, having almost no knowledge of any of these products, I only recently bought something here because I want to support them. I got a box of Rooibos tea and a jar of Hawaiian masala (Photo 10). I look forward to buying more in the future, though one thought I had was that this store would benefit from samples. On a previous visit, there was a bakery pop-up in front (Photo 8), and I think more of that activity could encourage more in-store traffic. It'll be interesting to see how this business evolves. Great selection of gourmet goodies-- I regular go in for snacks, cooking sauces from around the world, ice cream, canned drinks, honey & condiments. Appreciate they have plenty of vegan options.
