Always a delight going into this family owned business. I always come in here looking for something that I may have forgotten at the grocery store not expecting them to have it... and they always do! Very well stocked with supplies, drinks, great spice section as well as fruits and vegetables. There are two things that stand out about the Arlington Market. The first is that in spite of its character as a small neighborhood grocery, they have remarkable variety of products in some categories that are critical to me-- coffee beans, organic milk and yogurt, among many others. The second is that for many of the renown Bay Area brands their prices are lower than the big East Bay groceries with a foodie following. It's not the closest one to me as it represents about an hour's walk if I was so motivated. I was motivated today to take a long winding walk on Arlington Blvd. and stopped by. Lucky to have this little gem of a store in the neighborhood. They have most items I might spontaneously need or want. Good wine, beer, coffee, and other beverages. Acme bread, cheese, chocolate, eggs, milk, Greek yogurt, and ice cream. It's a nice little place and reliable. I was the produce section were a bit more vibrant and fresh, but you can't have everything. The guys working there are consistent and responsive to requests. I go there at least 3 times a week. read more

Not only is this store amazingly packed with all the baking and cooking supplies I might need, but they have, on multiple occasions, given my elderly father a ride home when he has been unable to walk up the hill. We have made arrangements now, but the owners of this store are incredibly kind. The best. read more

You gotta love the local neighborhood markets, especially one that's well stocked with anything you need and great prices. This one is up the hill from my parents house and it has always come thru when you need last minute items and don't want to drive across town to the big box stores. Great service and products and I will always patronize their small mom and pop stores. This one always carry a variety of beers which I love love love. Five stars for the new screen, bright, sharp definition next to register so you can actually see what you're being charged for the items. Not that I mistrusted the staff but a lot of things have no prices on them and when you've picked up this special treat (Oh wow! They have xyz) and the next treat and the next and the two, three, four things you actually went in for, well now you can see the all your indulgences in a sharp column with the sum at the bottom. This is a cute little market, in a cute little area, that I don't visit much. I used to rent a room in the Berkeley hills and I used to drive past this spot regularly. I regret that now. I could have stopped by her on the way up the hill instead of driving to Solano Ave to shop for the occasional fruits or vegetables or other items that I needed. Now, when I'm in the area, which is only 2-3 times per year, usually to go to the Kensington Market, I'll stop by and see what I can purchase there. read more

Arlington market is our neighborhood corner store, but is really so much more. The family that runs this place are the friendliest bunch and they are constantly doing inventory to make sure the produce and perishables are fresh. If you're vegan or gluten free you're in luck - great selection of goods. Acme Bread delivers baguettes and levain daily, and Simurgh delivers the best baklava in the East bay on Thursdays. Cheese selection leans American rather than European, but they have a good selection of pasta, dolmas, spices, and simple pain killers if you are in a pinch. read more

Too damn expensive for no reason. Charging more for the sake of changing more is wrong. Just because this is a wealthy neighborhood tsk tsk! I remember when the store was owned by Manuel and the prices were fair. I loved coming here as a kid and teen then I moved. This market has always been here and always done well no need to up charge regular things. I just moved back to the neighborhood and left disappointed. I rarely come here except in a pinch. I can deal with curt exchanges, a less than sparkly place and even some overpriced stuff. What I can't handle is expired and rotting food. If you're gonna gauge at least have the sense to make it decent stuff. Rotting lettuce. Brown soggy salad mix. An expired by a YEAR stale bag of chips. This is not an occasional oversight issue. This place knows a lot of their stuff is not good anymore but keep it on the shelf anyway. read more

oh you arlington market! i love you so. you have a fantastic selection of goods - even dairy based! but i will say that be sure and check your expiration dates on dry goods, from cookies to pasta. plus, just get used to being treated as a bother. one out of five times i'll get a an actual happy interaction. the other 4 aren't mean, just indifferent - sigh. it just is what it is. but i really wish they would open a deli sammy spot there again! i'd be there multiple times a week. please?!? read more

This place is ridiculous. I picked up a few grocery items and was surprised to discover that 4/5 things were expired; two of which had expired in 2012, 3 years ago. I informed the clerk, who was unfriendly, severe, and unapologetic. The location is convenient, and the small produce selection looked fairly fresh and reasonably priced. However this is still nothing but a dingy little corner store, regardless of weather or not "organic, fine foods" is written on the edifice. I prefer shopping at Giovanni's Market a few minutes away. It's clean, well stocked, and has an awesome produce selection with tons of fresh organics! read more

Place is a joke. Their sign outside is hilarious: "Organic Produce, Fine Foods, Distinctive Spirits" advertising like it's some sort of high-end shop but they have a small selection of liquor and the place needs a serious renovation. Last resort for a purchase. Bought some ice-cream, it was completely freezer burned. Ben & Jerry's too! What a waste. Would not come here for any reason unless I lived less than a block away. read more

Nice local Market....They are really trying to upgrade their selection. The Arlington Market is like an ACE Hardware to a Home Depot. Smaller more personable but pretty much has everything you need. So if you don't want to trudge yourself down to Safeway....try the Arlington Market. read more

I love this place! It's a really short walk from my house, and they have an amazing selection of natural and organic food--including staples like milk, eggs, butter, cheese, and even fresh produce! They also carry booze, lottery tickets, cigarettes, and junk food, so there's something for everyone :) Bonus: the owners are really friendly, at least once they get to know you, and their kids are super cute! read more

I really, really love this little market. It is close enough for me to walk to it, and most times it has everything I need for a last minute supper or breakfast. This market actually has the best deal on organic milk in the area as well as fresh organic eggs. They also have a surprising variety of canned goods, jarred goods, tea and various other foodstuffs. They have some unknown brands as well, which is kind of fun. I found a jar of Lidia's Italian Marinara sauce, claiming to be made by Lida Bastianich herself. It was rather good. The owner is super friendly and knowledgeable about all his products. He always tells me he gets the best deal on small name brands because his market is smaller and he doesn't order in large quantities like Safeway, Lucky's and such... I love supporting locally owned businesses and this is about as local as I can get without jumping in my car! read more

Don't expect these folks to acknowledge your existence. Don't expect "hi," "please," or "thank you." Don't hold your breath for eye contact. Instead, expect to feel that interacting with you is the worst part of their job. Expect them to keep speaking to each other as you enter and throughout the transaction. Also, check your expiration dates, because they don't. Trying to support a neighborhood, family-owned store that is super conveniently located in our neighborhood, but not getting any help or appreciation from the people who own it. On the plus side, they know their audience and get the healthy products we like, and some organics. It would just be special if they didn't seem to hate their customers' guts. read more

I've been living 2 blocks up the hill from them for 16 years, but barely visit the store unless I'm desperate! I used to stop in at least a few times a week, but they are rude, the coolers are always melting and re-freezing the merchandise (ice cream, TV dinners etc) that's not tasty at all!! In addition they are rude as hell, and don't acknowledge your presence, over priced as hell and I would just rather drive down the hill instead of receiving substandard products (expired and soggy) and inadequate service!!! I just realized I used rude twice, it was an oversight, but it is warranted in this case! I hope they read their reviews and reassess!!!!!!! read more
