Rincon Latino is a market I stopped by for ingredients when doing some of my cooking adventures when I lived in Albany. The store was easy to spot from the street and the parking lot was easy to maneuver in to and out of. Offerings spread a variety of grocery items and included produce and meat. When asking for a cut of meat from the butcher/meat case area, I was happy I had looked up in advance the terminology in Spanish for the cut of meat I was looking for as it turned out to be helpful for indicating what cut I wanted. Produce was fresh and worked perfect in the dishes I made. The interior of the store was well laid out with different sections clearly shelved without spreading into another section. Produce sections were located both outside of the entrance and inside the store. Payment was straightforward. All of the workers we interacted with were friendly and professional. read more

The Ladies who work up front @ the Registers are always pleasant & ready to answer any queries customers may have. Their ' Salsas are Delicious ', and labeled for Spice Level. They do sell Fresh Fish & Meat toward the back of the Store, but for those of us who stick with Kosher/ Halal Meats, HENS, - there's the Indo-Pakistani store right next door. My partner is Brazilian, and she really likes going to Rincon Latino as they have Brazilian sausage, Argentinian sausage, and salted and sweet PAMONHA (Brazilian SWEET CORN MUSH, they taste so good, looks like a tamale). I cook a lot of Mexican, Central and Latin American food at home, so I needed to find a good place to find the ingredients and supplies I needed nearby. I've shopped around a lot, but like this place the best so far. You can't go to just any store to find a fresh market, grocery store, spices and chiles, tamale supplies like wrappers and paper. I come here to get exactly what I need with better prices per pound. Especially on fresh cheese, dammmmnnnnn.... They also have a nice selection of herbs and spices, so you can definitely save money on refilling those supplies at home. You might even find something you never knew you'd like. I just found out that they have a taco bar in the back, so I will definitely come back to try that! read more

great local shop for random veggies and last minute chilies - but what makes them essential are those dang tortilla chips they make. these are not light, delicate, calorie friendly little crispies. these are total grease bombs - substantial enough to support every nacho ingredient you can throw at it, and you're STILL gonna have to bite your way through it. just go with the flow, cuz they are so fresh and simple that with even just a little sprinkled salt, they are an absolutely delicious house staple. you won't eat better tortilla chips, unless you are making them yourself - and even then, i'm still partial to rincon. my partner visibly frowns when we discover we've run out. so, about every 48-72 hours. read more

I'm basing my four stars mainly on the fresh corn tortillas I bought here. They are from La Finca Tortilleria which on Yelp has excellent reviews. Their corn tortillas are so fresh and tasty, I never want to buy "store-bought" tortillas again if I can help it, like the difference between fresh baked bread and stale store-bought bread. The La Finca tortillas come in 3-lb packages, amounting to 50-60 tortillas in the bag. The cashier told me they were just delivered this morning still warm, as evidenced by the condensation inside the plastic bag. I also bought some of Rincon Latino's house made salsa verde and pico de gallo, both of them were way too spicy for my taste although others may like super spicy. The parking lot at Rincon is very small, crowded and hard to get in and out of. Once you drive in, it's hard to turn around if there are no spaces. I'd go back for the fresh tortillas! read more

I love this place! It is a neighborhood Latino grocery staffed by very nice people. The produce is good and reasonably priced. The meat counter is great. The homemade salsas are awesome (in the produce section near the meat counter). Don't forget to pick up some of their homemade tortilla chips to go with the salsa. Get the crema (sour cream but better) at the meat counter; it is better and cheaper than the ones in the dairy case. They have all the basics of a Latino grocery making it one stop shopping for your next taco night. Did I mention that the staff is extremely nice and helpful? I always feel welcome. Using some Spanglish can be helpful, especially with the butchers. read more

They have their own parking lot but it's very small and it is hard to get into. We just parked on the street. The place is small but seems to have all your necessities. Produce seemed ok. The highlight was they had freshly made warm tortillas. Also bread from a bread store I'm Oakland, the meat seemed ok but maybe not the freshest. It's was overall ok. I was in search of an obscure Mexican ingredient that I was not going to find in the Hispanic section of Safeway, Raley's or any other of those chain supermarkets. Enter Rincon Latino. I walked into Rincon Latino thinking I would buy the one item I was in search of and be on my way. Not the case. I ended up spending a lot of time, found a bunch of great stuff, yet didn't spend tons of money. Why you ask? Because everything in Rincon Latino is a great deal. They have a great selection of veggies. OK, it's not Whole Foods organic or merchandised in an eye pleasing way like El Cerrito Natural Grocery, but you can find cheap limes, avocados, jicima and other Hispanic-centric vegetables. There is also a large selection of meats including marinated carne asada and house made chorizo. They also make their own tortillas and chips under the Rincon Latino name. The tortilla chips were crispy, salty and tasted like they had been fried the right way. With lard - yum! read more

Great shopping spot for the neighborhood, serving a diverse clientele. Friendly staff, and we're always surprised by how cheap everything is here. Great place to stock up on veg, meats, etc. The pan dolce (Mexican-style pastries) are 3 for a dollar, a total bargain. Really good "conchas". There are a few hidden treats in the self-serve pastry case that are more expensive (i.e. $1 instead of $0.33). Try the slabs of bread pudding, cheese cake, or Pan Salvadoreño. Yum! read more

REALLY cheap produce, quality meats which they will marinate for you to make carne asada, fresh home made tortillas, and I even spied kinder eggs for sale (for i think 3.99 or 4.99..hella expensive..BOO) I'd definitely come back here again. This is for the taco bar in back; I haven't shopped the grocery. Absolutely great meal. K and I each ordered the "Super Taco," she had the chicken, and the pastor for me. Generous with chips and great salsa, and $2 each. We also took home two tamales for later. Wow! Again a full portion of flavorful filling, chicken for us, surrounded in moist masa. Rincon Latino is a true tesoro! Excellent and unbelievably inexpensive produce--my main reason for going there often. Short lines, in the neighborhood, you're in and out in very little time. I love this lil place. The food is really really good and the prices range from "man, this is a screamin deal" to just below average. The market up front has hard to find things that your average american grocery store won't have even in it's ethnic sections, though you do "pay" for it. This is such a great neighborhood store. I absolutely love it. They have an amazing variety of produce, very reasonably priced, and good meat. I love Mexican food and do a lot of Mexican cooking and can always find whatever I need here. They have all the spices and ingredients that are hard to find at the mainstream gringo stores. I've been to this market lots of time and I've always found the staff very friendly, very helpful and very professional. Their selection of fruits and vegetables was well priced and get this: THEY MAKE THEIR OWN TORTILLAS AND SALSA and it's BRILLIANT! Just look for the warm tortillas in the ice chest near the regular ones, they made them an hour ago!!!! I have always been pleased shopping here. I come here for the produce which is of good quality at a good price. The service is excellent and friendly. They very rarely run out of anything. The owner is very nice and very hard working. They have other foods for sale, such as a butcher shop and most things you would find in a typical Mexican or Brazilian grocery store. They used to have a nice taco restaurant in the back which went out of business. I loved the fresh carrot juice they squeezed. Maybe someone will rent this out in the future. read more
