I went to Walmart looking for an electric skillet, they were out. I went to the produce section to try to buy fresh corn and the ear I picked up was halfway full of mold. I went to the bread section and saw open bags of bread. I picked up one loaf bread and it was also molded. There was also a whole banana peel on the floor. It's a Walmart, but with two floors. It's got all the regular things a Walmart in the Bay Area would have. It's dirty, but it's mostly organized. Fairly crowded on a weekend, but the staff were helpful. They weren't particularly difficult to find. The escalator for my cart got stuck, but was quickly fixed. It was a warm day earlier and the top floor was warm as hell. But it was cold and windy on the bottom floor by the cashiers. read more

This Walmart is not accepting returns of any items due to Covid 19. Other stores aren't accepting returns of certain items, but Richmond will accept none at all. I rented a whole Uhaul truck to return one tv and pick up another. They would not accept the return and the one I picked up (refurbished) ended up having a cracked screen. I was on hold with 1-800-walmart for one hour and 48 mins. After a week they still have not coordinated pickup of the two TV's from my home. read more

I went to pick up my items at pick up. When I picked up my order gave me my bag and said everything was in there. When I got home the most expensive item and other items were not in there. I was pissed. I called the next day as soon as they opened. The idiot at the counter said call tomorrow when the manger of the department will be there. She didn't even try to handle the problem. I ask for a manager she was trying to transfer me back to the same dept that couldn't answer my question on where my $170 of merchandise was. This is the worst Walmart I've ever been to In My Life the customer service is horrible. they throw your groceries in the bag like trash sometimes a grocery don't even fit. I'm clearly disabled and he didn't even try to help me place them in the cart and then was upset saying I was holding up the line placing my grocery in the cart why I complained everyone do it around looking at me like I was crazy. I was searching for the water pitcher filter replacements and could not find them for the life of me. I approached a group of employees and one in particular, Zack, was extremely kind and helpful. I bought a Black and Decking standing fan online and it completely stopped working 5 days after i received it. I went to Walmart.com to return it and they emailed me saying that i needed to return the item to a store. I go to the hilltop wal mart and wait outside to get in (this is in the middle of quaranting in late April 2020). The greeter at the door tells me their not doing any returns as their customer service desk is closed and they don't know when it'll be open again. I go home call corporate and they tell me to file for a return online which I've already done and its tell me to return the item to the store. This morning at around 10 am. I went to Walmart at hilltop mall in Richmond, CA. I tried to buy a $1000 walmart gift card with our walmart business credit card and the asst store manager named Lisa refused to sell them to me. She said I can't use our credit card because this could be a scam. Now, i don't know where that word scam came from but I was using our business credit card, i have an ID, I have a business card and I told her that a week ago I just purchased $500 walmart gift card from Walmart Davis st. In San Leandro, CA. I asked her to verify our account that I indeed made such purchase a week ago. She didn't bother to understand what I'm saying and just walked away. At this point, I asked for her supervisor. Another asst store manager came out of the staff room instead. He is a caucasian male with blonde hair. I wasnt able to get his name. The moment he saw me he already ran his mouth and didnt wanna listen to what I've got to say. He wanted me to shut up and listen to him. Wow! He didn't have any resolution nor any intentions of helping me or deescalate the situation. He just wanted to talk at me. I walked away to get my space and as I was walking away he followed me outside the store calling me rude and saying I should just go to San Leandro and not to go back there again. I'm a 4 feet 11 inch middle- aged asian woman, i don't understand why a male double my size would chase me out the store and scream at the top of his lungs. I feel so harrassed and discrimated against. I work for the homelesss population and i buy all our supplies from Walmart. I buy gift cards to give to the homeless so they can use it for their daily needs. My children used to worked at Walmart. I don't think i deserved that kind of treatment. After this horrid experience, I proceeded to Walmart in San Leandro and guess what? I was able to buy $1000 worth of walmart gift card with our business credit card without any questions asked. Went into this store two days ago for some wash cloths. I have a Walmart gift card that I received for xmas which I intended to use for the purchase. The register goes into full re-boot mode as soon as I swipe the card. The cashier eventually brings the machine back online and informs me that they don't accept those cards. Me: It's a Walmart Gift Card. Cashier: Where did you buy it? Me: It was a gift. Cashier: Where did you buy it? Me: I didn't buy it, it was a gift. It was given to me for xmas. Cashier: We can't accept those cards. Me: I'm going to have to ask you to call a manager. Manager arrives. He informs me if the card doesn't swipe they can't take it and it's not their fault. Shady AF. Every time. Let me tell you my two stories. Four score and three months ago was the first time I got my glasses here. Let me tell you, the lenses were poorly made (only the top half of the lenses had the prescription, they were practically bifocals.... how the hell does that happen? I'm 28 years old, I don't use bifocals!). I immediately started getting headaches and eye strains, and brought them back. Here's what guy #1 said "Uhhhh, there's nothing wrong with the lenses. It's just you. Sometimes you have a good day and you see clearly, and other days when you're stressed out you see blurry. You should go back to your optometrist to get another prescription." I may be president of the us of a, but I very well know the difference between stress and seeing double cause I'm so goddam cross eyed now with your defective lenses. I was like, hold TFU. "No, these lenses are bifocals. Even my partner can't see with them, and her prescription is the same as mine. I need them to be redone, or I'm getting a refund". After much back and forth and lots of arm twisting, guy #1 agreed to replace ONE lense. I was like "FOO, replace both lenses. I paid for them, and u guys F'ed up.". After more bickering and more arm twisting and a little titty pinching, he agrees to change both lenses. Now hear my second story: my frames ended up being defective and they just straight up fell apart. Like not broken or anything, just one arm glued off from the hinge mechanism. I walk in and now chat with guy#2 about my defective frames, he doesn't say a word and takes my glasses, walks over to the display section and grabs the display frames, and walks back into be back room where I hear him switch my lenses into the display frames. He comes back out with my glasses after a few seconds and is like "Here you go" as he hands me the "fixed" glasses (that were really just display frames with my lenses). I look at the frames, and they're really naaaasty and scratched. This wise guy tried to pull a fast one on me! I immediately was like "wait a minute, these frames are display frames and they're really banged up. What other options do I have?" Guy #2 should have explained the options for me from the git go. I ended up getting a replacement through the warranty. I get their game now: avoid going through warranty by all wretched means necessary. Walmart does not honor their own return/refund policies. Returned item 7-10 business days for carrier (FedEx) to report to Walmart. Then 3-5 business days for Walmart to issue refund. Item ordered 01/08/2022, paid cash/debit card, item delivered to wrong house and not working, I wrapped and FedEx picked up 01/18/2022 for return, on 01/23/2022 I was told FedEx picked up, 02/09/2022 Catarina told me she would issue refund that day. Based on that I made another commitment/which will cost $60 to cancel. Today, 02/10/2022, NO REFUND. They started process over the day before, another 3-5 business days; should get refund 02/17/2022. This place sucks. The store resembles the management that runs the Walmart. I was trying to return a gift I received but had no gift receipt. The item was never even opened. If you look up Walmart's return policy, if you don't have a receipt and the item is still being sold you would be able to get store credit for the item if over $50. A manager (Sharon) took it upon herself to change the policy and say it's management's choice to not abide by that. Wtf! Wow! Really?! I left. I went to another where they did give me store credit. I don't dislike Walmart, but the terrible service in this one is disgusting. Not only was the cashier rude and I swear smiled when Sharon (the manager who can change policy) told me they will not take the item back. I could understand why this particular store is doing drastic changes like covering the fishing tackle area and changing policies. Of course of all the theft or scams that the store is taking in. But this store's changes that it is making are destroying the integrity of the company. If this store is taking a hit from all the theft or scams you don't hurt the consumer. I've only been here a handful of times and only on a need-to basis, and each time, I've left feeling pretty bad and kind of depressed. Hilltop Mall, in general, makes me depressed, but this Walmart, believe it or not, gives me that feeling even moreso. Here are a couple examples of things that I've experienced/witnessed: When I needed help in the arts and crafts department, I asked the first employee who strolled by. He said, "Just keep looking. This isn't my department" and walked away. Very helpful. Another time, I was in the fridge section looking for cheese, and there was this chick standing at the freezer next to me. She had opened up a box of ice cream bars and was eating them with the freezer door open, and melted bits and pieces were dropping on to her exposed muffin top. Shopping here made me feel... not so great. Here's the kicker: The clothes a F21 are cuter and cheaper. And you can get way better quality food at Trader Joe's for around the same price. For everything else, just go to Target. There's a way better vibe there. Walmart's one saving grace for me? That they carry Aquify contact lens solution, which is surprisingly hard to find anywhere else, so this is where I have to go to stock up. read more

Our Wal-Mart is in the Hilltop Mall shopping center. So the entrance leaves a lot to be desired. The inside does too. I'm not a Wal-Mart aficionado, but I would like to think that any department store would have a level of neat and tidy on the "Main Objective" page. Having said that, their produce isn't half bad. The prices weren't as good as I had hoped for. We purchased bananas @ .52 a pound. Trader Joe's is actually less expensive by just a bit. Bagged apples and potatoes. Over to the pantry for other staples. To my surprise and childhood joy I discovered that they have Popeye's canned spinach! The entire store is pretty well laid out. It does get a tremendous amount of customer traffic. It's disheveled, dirty and crowded any time of week or day. We have found batteries for our car, hardware for the house, food, OTC pharmacy items and mostly Monster drinks at Wal-Mart for a fair price. I like the idea behind Wal-Mart. I don't like how, if you choose to try them out, you're forced into a shopping experience that leaves you wanting to take a shower when you get home. read more

If you have to come here , I hope you know where the item is and get out as soon as you can. The employees that work here are the same as well. UPDATE: Well, my husband needed to get some synthetic oil for his truck. He won't buy it anywhere other than Wal-Mart, because it's much less expensive there than anywhere else. So, I walk into the store and immediately realize that I forgot my cell phone in the truck. So, I walk back out and as I am at the car, the greeter is back outside waving the gang signs and screaming at the 2 guys in the car! Again, seriously WTF?!?!? By the time I get back in the store, the greeter is back at her post inside the store. She ignores me and everyone else walking past her while she is texting away on her cell phone. Now, I am not normally one to complain about too many people. But this is just one of those times that I really had to. Richmond gets a bad rap. Most Bay Area liberals I know would rather lie to their friends than admit that they shop at Wal-Mart. But I have no shame. I know exactly how horrible Wal-Mart is for the global and local economies but I happen to be broke so I often shop at Wal-Mart despite my liberal political leanings. That being said, not all Wal-Marts are created equal. This one has the dubious distinction of being one of the worst Wal-Marts I have ever set foot in. It's very large but somehow manages to have a crap selection. I've seen other Walmarts with half the square footage with wider aisles and a better selection. There's just an air of neglect that permeates everything. It's sad and kind of gross. Walmart's low prices tend to bring out all kinds of different people. This WalMart had a pretty high proportion of "People of Walmart" types which makes for great people watching but not much else. Walmart do nasty scam (didn't get the item nor refund) on people with the help of third party seller (BAKG value capital LLC), I bought a keyboard (Jelly Comb Bluetooth) for 54$ and the Walmart emailed me saying the item was damaged in the transit and they are happy to refund my money which looks good but since when you refund customer for damage items instead of sending a replacement ? At least ask the customer if they are looking for a refund, the reason for the refund is technically canceling the order, what makes it more strange getting an email from FedEx saying the item was delivered (at the same time when I received the email that says item was damaged and we are refunding the amount) I turn to be that they are not happy with the price 54$ the next thing is my order was canceled and I was ask to buy the item again but this time the price went to 84$(double the original price) shame that's how they rip off citizens and make money. read more

I've only dealt with their customer service over the phone, but let me just say that it was a terrible experience. I called and was put on hold for 15 minutes, with at least 7 different people picking up to say, "Thank you for calling Walmart" or something to that effect. Each time I mentioned what I was looking for, I was put back on hold immediately, until someone new asked me the same question minutes later. I kept waiting until they hung up on me. YES. Her car had a bad starter so she asked a "normal" looking guy for some help and he threatened her.
