Wow! I'll say it again; WOW! This place has gone DOWN HILL on a rice rocket! This store USED to be full of NICE, KNOWLEDGABLE, employees. I was looking for a toaster cover- the woman who stopped to ask what i needed had no clue what I was talking about. Since she didn't understand what I was asking for, she decided to check her cell phone. A few minutes later she saw mw againd and asked; "did you find?" I told her no. She then said; " if you find you will show me where." I saw a man who had stopped to chit chat w her, I asked him if he knew anything about them... And he said, "it is better to ask her, I am maintenance only, and my English is no good." However, his English was good enough to stop and talk with her for 3 minutes. I haven't been to Walmart in years and my recent experience reminded me why. 1. I ordered something online and had to pick it up. There is no sign at the entrance that you have to walk to the back of the store for pickups. 2. Upon arrival, there was no one at the counter. But a screen indicating I should "check in." After I checked in, my name was put on another monitor. 3. After waiting a while, no one came. I asked someone who was walking back and forth from the employee doors if I was in the right spot or if someone was coming. He said yes, I'll get someone. He came back and said she's coming. 4. While I'm waiting, another employee asks if I'm waiting to pick up. I said yes and she replies incredulously, "oh did you check in? Did you call for someone on the keypad?" Keypad? I checked in on the huge monitor? Well, apparently where you swipe your card, there is a button to call for someone. Is that explained anywhere? No. Was that mentioned on the check-in? No. What was the point of checking in if it doesn't communicate that someone is in the area? Another person to pick up a package was just as confused. Ridiculous. read more

I know. A 5 star review for Walmart? In Martinez? Come on, right!? Yep. I mean, everything here is SO CHEAP! Target, who? : ) It's amazing how much stuff you can buy here -- and I'm constantly wow'ed by their roll back prices! Maybe it's just me, but I always get helpful, friendly, kind Walmart associates to assist me with my shopping needs. At the Customer Service Counter, whenever I've returned something, it's been quick and easy and the employees have been efficient and nice. Mariam assisted me during my most recent visit and she was pleasant and really helpful! If I've needed to find something in the store, I've wrangled an associate working on the floor and they have walked me to the item(s) and even helped me search the shelves for the item or looked it up in the inventory and aisle number on their phones. In-store pick up at the very back of the store is run by the sweetest, helpful, organized manager, Latisha, who, when I hadn't picked up my item yet, called me the day-of as a reminder and set aside the box for immediate pick up. When I arrived, although there were six people in line for in-store pick ups, Latisha made sure that everyone there had checked in and she got through the line with ease, even asking how I was doing when I told her I was working through the flu! The cashiers are always kind and friendly as well and I end up having the most interesting conversations with the gals, even after I've completed my check out (of course, only when there's no one in line behind me : ) For example, the most recent cashier was studying to be an ELL/ESL teacher while she worked at Walmart. Even the guy checking the receipts at the door is nice. Overall, walk in with an attitude that yeah, this is Walmart, and some of the shoppers *do* look shady, and yeah, you're there, but if it's for the low, low prices, then maybe it's not so bad after all. read more

I was visiting the store in Martinez, California store today 10/26/18, around 2pm. I witnessed several (at least 4 ) clerks having a rather heated argument near the fitting rooms. Something about someone not being there today. That someone maybe assigned a task to this one woman who sounded like she was refusing to do it. Yelling, "I'm not going to do it. She's not here!" Others were joining in and one lady said, "I am sick of this s***!" Another, "I'm not touching this anymore. I'm done with this!" They then started bickering amongst each other for a solid five minutes in voices that were slightly under the level of screaming. They seemed oblivious that I was even in the area. The lady behind the desk had the loudest voice and she seemed the most disgruntled. Tall, a little heavy, blonde hair in an updo and glasses. All in all, very unprofessional attitudes and conduct. I tried asking a question to one of the ladies involved a question before this went down and I was straight up ignored. Class act right there. Honestly, if this store didn't have such an awesome air freshener selection and cheap kitty litter, I would probably cease shopping here. Cheap prices shouldn't come with cheap service. Don't get me started on the new womens clothing lines, which are a whole new level of SUCK. Bring back Faded Glory, please. read more

I went into Walmart today to dispute a charge on my credit card. It took a lot of digging for Brandy and Jenny to find out what happened. They called me later to tell me it was for ink, and dang it, I forgot I had bought ink! my bad for sure. They could not have been nicer about it to me. I am here atleast twice a week for staples in the house. It is a Walmart, not much to say. Staff is friendly. They are usually stocked. The pharmacy is easy and cheap. If you are a Walmart shopper I highly reccommend downloading the 'savings catcher app'. You scan your reciept and they compare everything you bought to competing stores including the DOLLAR store and give you the difference. When your refunds gets to an amount you want to cash it in they just scan your phone at the register or you can print it at home. In this last year I have been refunded over 100 bucks. It is pretty awesome for me that way I dont have to run around to hella stores to be sure I got the lowest price.. Its a free app. read more

Alright... so it's not the greatest store. When I step out of my car, I'll admit that I feel a little uneasy. It's not like Target where I can casually roam and spend a great amount of time browsing and contemplating whether I need a nonessential item. That's why I use their online service! Seriously can't beat Walmart prices, sometimes. I got a work desk with drawers and lots of counter space for less than $50 and they shipped it free to my apartment thanks to their back-to-school special. (I feel so youthful!) But the chair I ordered wasn't part of the deal so I had it shipped to this location free of charge. I went to the '.com' department and pushed a button to call for assistance. Yesterday, after looking at my receipt,I realized I had been overcharged on at least two items. I went to the customer service desk. I waited about 10 minutes. I explained that I had been overcharged for two items. An associate was sent to check on the prices. Meanwhile the customer service rep asked me to stand aside so she help the folks behind me. 10 minutes later the runner comes back and says I was overcharged. He also said that he'd fixed the problem. I made a comment to him and he said "I was talking to my coworker not you" . Lol. The customer rep continues helping the lady that was behind me in line and ignores me. I decided to just cut my losses and leave. I'm not a Walmart type of guy, unless I'm in Spirit Lake Iowa and need supplies for our Summer Family stay at the Lake. Before this building was a Walmart, it was Costco and had the same smallish and difficult to maneuver parking lot (with Home Depot/Yard Birds/Home Base) at the other end. Before yesterday, I think the last time I was here was a few years back when I was in the process of installing energy efficient light bulbs throughout the Albany House. My Brother wanted to come to any Walmart before he returned to Taiwan. He had a long "we can't get it there" list and he had an extra suitcase to fill. My Son was happy to oblige as he mentally ran through his "must have" toy list and how he was going to con me into paying for it. His associated allowance calculations are creative and impressive. I ended up with some incidental toiletries and was lucky that the Kid couldn't find most of what he wanted. My Brother was considerably more fortunate (and efficient) and I was happy to get back to the Pleasant Hill home and its air conditioner. And back in Albany? I don't think I will ever go to this location again! So disorganized, mile long lines, the slowest cashier is on earth. I went to get some T-shirts today, they're all locked up. Me and another gentleman stood in the aisle pressing the button for service and waited for 15-20 minutes with no one coming to help. As I left, I could hear the calls over the radio saying customers needed help in the men's department. Saw plenty of employees walking around doing nothing. Used the self check with my debit card only to find out later that evening that my credit card #/info was used to withdraw money from THEIR ATM at the very same location I shopped at hours earlier - I did call my bank but decided to go to Walmart to speak to the Manager also. I spoke to someone named Jamie, who basically didn't give a shit ... she didn't even write anything down or take a report, and told me that if I wanted to see the video I had to contact the Martinez police Department. I just went to Walmart in Martinez and pick up a sleeping sofa bed, I was so lucky that I got Xavier to help me, and also He is a supervisor and he had ken to help too. It is a heavy item, we try to fit it in my small car, and it doesn't fit, and they are really good that helping to take the boxes off. Now we had to super careful to put it inside the car without scratch it. While they both are trying and two nice guys that run from two different directions and come to help. With 4 guys each one holding one corner that make it much easier to go in. And the other guy also Consider when I drive and turn the sofa might hit the window, and he put and box to make sure it won't move . It is full of love in the world. Thank you guys ! read more

You get what you pay for and you pay very little so don't expect extra stocked shelves and a whole lotta help getting stuff you need. I'm a big fan of this Wal-Mart location. The store is generally really clean, even with the worst crowds. It's well organized. I love the fishing section in the back. There are generally a lot of employees around. The greeters are also friendly. We came in this weekend and there were more people than I've ever seen in any Wal-Mart...EVER!! But even still, we managed to get our things and get in a line that wasn't as bad as we expected. Our cashier was patient with our three gift cards and even took my reuseable bags from me and bagged all the items himself. Four very full, large bags! I think his name was Jerome. *(??) Super friendly, congratulated us on our wedding when he saw the gift cards had wedding deco. And he was fast. Some of the other lanes were barely moving compared to ours. Customer service is really important. Whoever is hiring at this location is doing a good job. Certain Wal-Mart locations (Tulare, CA) have lost my business for good. Very disappointed that they aren't taking much safety measures anymore. I gave it a second chance after the first time going- the second trip was worse then the first. They aren't keeping track of their capacity numbers (no more counting at the door) so inside was very packed, I couldn't get into a lot of rows due to the amount of people in each one. Carts weren't being clean and they didn't have anything to offer to clean anything on your own. The trip was short since we didn't feel very safe being inside anymore. Rushing to self check out at some point we needed help. I looked over and asked a male employee if he can help me he sat there looking at us and didn't budge one bit so an older employee came to us instead. I won't be returning until I know Walmart is following the PPE safety guidelines. Yes prices are cheaper but I wouldn't mind paying a little extra somewhere else when it comes to my health. It was January 17, 2012, and it was 'Moneyball Day.' I've grown especially close to the film, due to being a huge fan of Jonah Hill, but also of the Oakland A's story. Additionally, I was there one of the nights of filming at the coliseum back in '10. Fast forward and it was Tuesday morning and I rushed to my Hilltop Walmart to get the exclusive three disc Blu-ray set. I was there a little late and asked an employee and it turns out they hand't received their shipment... UNACCEPTABLE! It's 'Moneyball Day'. I called the Martinez Walmart, which is only about 15 minutes away and they had plenty of stock, so I made my way immediately. I arrived at the store and although it's not as big, it's much better than the Hilltop location. The store has much more variety, more space, and better customers. No ghettoness or hoodnes visible at noon on a Tuesday. I didn't get much of a chance to look around, but it's simple to see why it's better than the RIchmond store. I won't drive out of my way for this store, but I can admit it's much better than Richmond/Hilltop. If you ever have a choice between the two stores, I definitely suggest going with the Martinez location. read more

Shortly after placing an online order through my Walmart account, I received an email that my order was ready for pickup. This surprised me as I meant to have the order delivered. In any case, I went to the nearby Walmart to get the items I had ordered at the pickup area. I had never ordered "pickup" before and accidentally walked into the wrong door (employees only, I assume). I was immediately harshly greeted by a young lady (employee/worker) who loudly yelled at me "Get out of here! You can't be here." Several of her coworkers were present. Very embarrassing to me. Now that I am in Walnut Creek, the Walmart in Martinez is the closest to me. I usually don't shop here, but being a first time renter, I knew that Walmart was a good choice for a one-stop-shop to get all of the items that I needed. My first experience was very pleasant, but let me tell you about today, my second time coming. At check out, I tried to purchase a lid for my hefty trash can that I purchased from the same Walmart just last week. When the cashier scanned the lid, she told me that they don't sell the lid by itself. She told me that they only sell the lid with the trash can as a combination. I explained to her that I in fact purchased a trash can without the lid, and she was not sympathetic at all. (-1 STAR) I was at the left-most line where the manager could hear me and even the manager was not very helpful. I explained that although I understand that the lids are only sold with the trash cans, the previous cashier did not inform me that. (-1 STAR) She should have told me to get the lid to accompany the base. The manager told me that I would need the receipt. I told her that I did not have the receipt with me. She said that she can't do anything for me. (-1 STAR) I told her that I have the credit card with me that was used to purchase the trash can, and she still can't help me. (-1 STAR) She tells me that its not her problem. (-1 STAR) After all is said and done, I take it as a loss and ask the cashier for that specific managers name since the manager walked away. She said her name is "Vilma" with such disgust towards me. I check out and go along my way. Before I leave, I talk to customer service. Ellie helped me out. I explain my situation, and she is very understanding and empathetic. She tells to grab the lid and check in with her. I did exactly that and went along my way, leaving the store with the lid. (+1 STAR) Thank you Ellie for being the only one with common sense, because the cashiers and management seem to be overpaid at minimum wage in my honest opinion. I will continue to patronize this Walmart, but congratulations on being my only one star review. Common decency and human kindness goes a long away. Next time do the right thing and tell me that the lid comes with the trash can, or be understand that if I purchased a trash can with a lid, give me the damn lid. read more
