Wrong price
Steve L.

Worst Walmart Ever!!! They priced things incorrectly. Saw a book for $3. When I went to self checkout, it rang up as $22.82. I spoke to the associate who called over manager Andy. Andy was a reasonable guy and said he would match it. Unfortunately, because books are a part of the electronics department, I would have to head back there and have them verify the photo i.e. incorrect pricing and the associate back there would match it. David, the electronics associate, said he had to speak to a manager. David went to verify the price and it was as marked. David said he needed to verify what Andy said so we called and texted Andy. Andy did not reply but a manager called over the phone and said they would come talk to us. Unfortunately, Diamaris the "Coach" came over instead of Andy. Diamaris looked at the photo and said she could not price match it. She then scanned the book, and went over to the area. She came back a few minutes later and said that I was wrong and that the books were correctly priced. David then interjected, letting her know that he had fixed the pricing issue but that he had moved the books into their respective spots. Diamaris then got upset and said she was not going to lose $20 over this. She said that the correct pricing was a couple of spots over and that it was clear that a customer had moved it. I explained that it wasn't my fault for their incorrect pricing and I stated that CA Agriculture and Weights statutes stipulated that they must honor the lowest advertised price. She said she would do it for $9 and with a ton of attitude. I explained that Andy the manager I spoke to earlier said that it was $3 and she said that he wasn't a manager but a lead and that she was a "coach". Clearly, nobody ever coached in her charm or customer service. Now creeping into 30 minute territory, I said fine and bought the book. The moral of this story is, that the management team at Walmart in Duarte, specifically a coach, will always not care about the customer and more about being correct and not losing money. Don't worry Diamaris. I'm filing a complaint with the LA County Agricultural Commissioner Weights & Measures. I'm a "Coach" also. Andy, you were great and your customer service is the right kind.

I used to live in Florida and frequently would go to the Wal-Mart there. California definitely isn't a place for Wal-Marts, I went just to pick up a small order (1 item) and it's definitely a hit or miss with the employees, some are kind, courteous and professional, others just hate to be there and it shows. I also went on a Friday at 11am, so very low traffic and at the beginning of the work day, and they're already kinda frustrated? lol. Anyways, I try to avoid going here if possible.

Walmart is Walmart. The locations parking lot is dirty and it's always crowded but aren't they all?! I prefer the Rosemead location because this one is not very friendly or clean. But all Walmarts have amazing deals

Leah the super hero!

I want to give a huge shoutout to Leah at the Monrovia Walmart! I came in early yesterday with a ton of questions, and she went above and beyond. She answered every single one with professionalism, kindness, and patience--even while being bombarded nonstop. Leah is truly a superhero! We need more people in the world like her. Walmart, what are you waiting for?! Raise and promotion needed here--come on guys! God bless you, Leah, and thank you for making my experience such a great one.

Ask the Community - Walmart

How is the grocery pickup at this store? Efficient? Accurate? Wait time? I know it can vary depending on staffing, how busy they are, etc. but in general, is it worth it or a pain? Thanks.

It is not the most convenient. Make sure you add extra time to your day.

Is there a fabric department here?

Limited amount of fabric in the arts and crafts section.

They were here last year for the month of October, and it seems they've returned for the same time this year. There's plenty of parking in this area, and it's conveniently situated next to the newly opened Dollar Tree. Out of all the Spirit Halloween stores I've visited, this one is definitely one of the nicer ones. It's larger, with more space to move around, cleaner, and much better organized, with fewer crowds compared to other locations. Right when you walk in, you're greeted by impressive Halloween displays and moving animatronics. These are available for purchase but tend to be on the pricier side. The technology behind these displays seems to have evolved, with some animatronics even featuring sensor tracking--so their faces move as if they're watching you. This year, it seems they're going for a carnival theme, with decor like the "Wheel of Fate," "Down the Duck," and "World Famous Side Shows" stage, complete with a ticket booth and a walk-through "Fun House." It's all very inventive and adds to the spooky atmosphere. There's a huge selection of Halloween-related items here, from costumes to accessories. You'll find masks, pumpkin carving kits, and an extensive collection of costumes. They have everything from the classic skeletons and ghosts to themed characters. I was particularly impressed by the Spongebob, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Five Nights at Freddy's, and Harry Potter sections. However, the costumes are on the expensive side--for example, the Squidward inflatable costume is a hefty $59.99! Some of these costumes, like Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy, could easily be made for cheaper with a bit of DIY effort. Regardless, if you're looking to get into the Halloween spirit, this is a great spot to visit. The displays are fun, the selection is wide, and even though the prices can be high, it's still worth checking out for the experience alone.

However, Spirit Halloween has kept their prices fairly low despite inflation. You can usually put together something nice by buying separate pieces. While I was staying at the hotel across the street, I have noticed this store and always wanted to visit the store. Walked in on a Saturday afternoon just to browse and see what they had. Didn't really have anything in particular on mind. All aisles were nicely organized, stocked according to their items and the store itself was very clean along with the dressing rooms and restrooms. Got a nice welcome from 2 of their employees, security guard, and they were all kind and really wanted to help. They have items from kitchenware, to accessories, stuffed animals, handbags, shoes, clothes for kids, men and women. Also have luggage, outdoor furniture and some indoor furniture. Have swim suits for ladies, kids, juniors, toys, have beautiful decor, art work, beauty supplies and a lot of the items were on sale up to 70%. What more do people want?? Why all the bad, negative reviews?? They had couple of fitting rooms, and gender neutral restrooms. Bought few items: black jacket with thin white stripes, 2 room sprays, a nice art work made of canvas, mustard color jacket, brown Jacket, black and white print, Summer dress, a small saucer/pot, and a short cute Jeans skirt. For all that I only paid $140.00 including tax. Now, I can finally say that I have been to Burlington. It's a lot like Ross, Marshalls, Target, and TJ Max. What surprised me the most is their super long hours. Wow!! Store has been around since 2021 and I heard that this place used to be Toys R Us! Plenty of parking spaces shared with other stores and eateries..

When I got to the on deck circle, I made an attempt to hand carry the four items (that I was purchasing) directly to the counter and in doing so, the first item I grabbed slipped outta my hand and the plastic lid directly hit the floor. The shampoo inside slowly oozed from the pump and now needed a cleanup right at the very spot every customer would have to cross to checkout . My heart stopped that very instant, but before I could even look up from the floor, one of the managers had a roll of towels and spray cleaner all over that slippery mess. The bottle was gone, my other items were on the counter and I was checking out as if nothing had happened at all. They were exceptionally gracious and forgiving and when I asked if they would like me to take (that) bottle ? They insisted that it wasn't necessary, so I found a substitute item on the kiosk instead. As embarrassing as that was for me, everybody treated me with such kindness and forgiveness, that I will look forward to shop that store more often for more items in the future.

The issue wasn't the store policy, it was the way she chose to communicate it. She was condescending, unnecessarily rude, and spoke to me loudly enough that I felt completely embarrassed in front of other customers. A simple, polite explanation would have been more than sufficient, especially considering I was trying to get a large amount of fragile merchandise safely to my car. Management should absolutely speak with Susie about how she communicates with customers. Customer-facing employees should be able to explain store policies respectfully without yelling at or embarrassing people. Based on my interaction with her, she would benefit from additional customer-service training or may be better suited for a position that is not customer-facing. I left what should have been a pleasant shopping experience feeling embarrassed and extremely disappointed by the way I was treated
