I checked out Wallace's for the first time last night. It was a Sunday night and pretty quiet. I had made a reservation through OpenTable but clearly didn't need it. We ended up sitting at the bar and the bartender was awesome. We enjoyed chatting with him and he gave us some great recommendations including the Smoked Gouda Housemade Sourdough Flatbread. It was loaded with caramelized onions, roasted tomatoes and watercress. And had a balsamic drizzle on it. It was fantastic. Also, if you are thinking about what side to order, make sure you try the Cheddar Stone Ground Grits. Grits are usually hot or miss and they hit a home run with these. There cocktails are also on point. The Violet Lemondrop with housemade violette and St. Germain was my favorite. Followed closely by the Blueberry Thyme Smash.

For the service it would be 4 stars, but the food was average. I would give this place a 3.5 star if I could. We had reservation for 8pm and when we show up, the place was empty. So not sure why they put our reservation that late. We had couple appetizers and includes the catfish nugget like a lot other reviewers recommended. It was good light breaded fried fish. Our server was very nice and few of his recommendations were good. Like the fried green tomato, shrimp taco and etc. Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, they have live jazz music. Probably will check it out sometime soon. It was a good time. I would go back during the live music days.

Place is not overly busy and the service greatly improved from the last time . Had a Caesar salad with chicken which the meat was extremely moist and over all I enjoyed. The server appropriately kept checking in but at the same time give me my privacy. Overall good experience!

The music here is amazing, but the food is never consistent and the service is middling.

(Sitting at the bar is the best!) We started with Bartender's choice (which is always a good idea if you're at a specialty cocktail bar), and we both loved what we got! They made me a Juliet & Romeo, which was gin, cucumber, mint, etc. they made my fiancé a Safe Return, which was bourbon, pineapple, cinnamon, etc. (didn't write down the ingredients so can't remember it all lol) I also got the classic Last Word, which was great! They didn't include the maraschino cherry garnish which made me sad, but I lived lol. I also tried the Euro Trip from their specialty menu, and it was delicious and very spicy from the ginger. They also had their own barrel select of Knob Creek, which my fiancé tried - so cool! The bartenders were super chill and the ambiance was great! A little pricey but worth it.

While technically not a true speakeasy in the sense of hidden doors and secret codes, it is amazing. You do have to "look" for it. From the street not an easy spot. But you will be so glad you found it. True craft cocktails with knowledgeable, accessible staff. We had wonderful conversation and superb drinks. I am sorry to forget our bartenders name but she was a professional (I hope she enjoyed Detroit) Not a pretentious place, just good people.

However, Wigle does because they produce a wide array of spirits beyond whiskey like the vodka and coffee liqueur in this mix. I depended on YouTube travel vloggers to point me in the direction of this popular distillery bar and cafe in the Strip District. The place was bustling in the middle of the afternoon, and I was lucky to secure the last stool at the bar. The espresso martini drew my eye, and I thought I should have a snack to go with it. I ordered the $12 Devil's Eggvocate. Four deviled egg halves were topped with smoked paprika, pickled jalapeño slices, and bacon jam made with their own coffee liqueur (Photo 9). It was a bit top heavy for me, but then I never reject a deviled egg. If I wasn't driving, I might've considered trying a whiskey tasting, but it just wasn't in the cards.
