Not as good as it once was. I'm sure there have been several owners over the years. Their subs are cheaper than say Jersey Mike's, but skimpier. Service always friendly. Soup bowl was mostly bowl. Hint to owner: Check out your competition to see how you stand up and what improvements you should make, if any. I would hate to see this place go away. I've eaten here since early 80's. read more

Had a great experience with the staff at Walla Walla Subs. We had a basketball team with 25 in our group. Walla Walla Subs worked with our schedule to get us our meal on time, and everything tasted great. I called to see if they could prepare lunch for the Lewis & Clark Baseball team. it was an order for a Saturday. The manager told me they weren't open on Saturdays but would make the sandwiches and deliver them to the baseball field. I was ordering from California and this was such a relief knowing I didn't have to DoorDash or Uber. The team said the sandwiches and cookies were excellent. I wish I'd taken a pic of this fully-loaded delicious sub before devouring it! We got 1 of the combo subs but I can't remember what it was called, it had a few different meats, fresh veggies, and lots of add ons to choose from. The dressing was perfect, not too heavy so that it made the bread soggy, and the bread was that perfect chewy but not too hard, not too soft, consistency. My husband and I picked up a full size to share while sitting down at a winery for lunch. I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu! Well-price and really great quality! read more

My wife and I went here to get a couple of subs to take to a local winery while we were wine tasting this past weekend. The people in the sub shop were very nice and the place looked clean and tidy. We ordered our subs and only waited about 5 to 7 minutes before they were wrapped up, bagged and handed to us. We drove the short distance to the winery we were going to be visiting and promptly got a table and unwrapped our subs. The portion on the subs looked good and the flavor was ok but the bread was kind of hard and cold... like it had just come out of a refrigerator? Overall, the subs were just ok with both me and my wife only eating about half of what we had ordered. Probably wouldn't go back but can say "been there, done that"!! read more

Huge sandwiches and great value. It is certainly a classic sub with a large hoagie roll and oil and vinegar. The shop facility itself is 1960 and the flavor 1995. Not bad by any means but with the right ingredients it can be easily duplicated at home. The excitement was real for the macaroni salad, but it seemed to be a store bought salad placed into individual containers. Overall an ok experience and a good value for quantity. read more

The easiest way to judge a sub shop is to critique their Italian sub ( hold the mustard, mayo & jalapeno and just "run it through the garden" w/ extra oil), and the Walla Walla Sub Shop passes the test with highest honors. This foreigner from CA recently visited twice and I was highly satisfied. Prices are quite reasonable and your sandwich is constructed quickly and with loving care. So I picked up the phone and placed the order to be picked up at 4:00, knowing they closed at 5:30. We set out on our walk, and got there early. This place has not let me down once. Consistently good sandwiches, especially their paninis, plus their taco salad makes me want to eat salads now in general. The lady that owns this place is especially kind and sweet. They have a nice little drive thru option that adds to its rustic vibe. Also a pretty open eating area for anybody that likes to enjoy their sandwiches alone or with another friend. It's usually not crowded( which I like). Everything has a bleachy aftertaste and there seems to be racist vibes. Also, the soups taste metal-ish - to me at least.

We stumbled onto this place on a morning walk to the college. Ended up going back to grab sandwiches between tastings. I spent 2 years at college in Walla Walla more than 20 years ago and no sub has ever come close to the Sub shop's. Get the Full Boat with everything. everything is fresh and the cheese and meats are freshly sliced on a deli slicer in front of you after you place your order. The bread is fresh, not too firm not too soft. The produce is fresh, tomatoes juicy, and lettuce shredded just right. The oil and vinegar combine with all the ingredients to make it absolutely tasty. I now live too many states away but still get cravings for their subs. I sometimes contemplate having them overnight me a sub it's that good. read more
