One of the Wall Brothers came out to give a quote. He was completely helpful. Then when the bid came we had some questions. We were asked what our budget was and then the 'corrected' bid came right in at the budget he thought I said. When I called to ask more questions the second brother was great as well. We set up a time for him to come out to better understand the bid and what we wanted done. The time came and went. Then I texted him. He informed me that he had been rear ended. I never heard back from them again. I can't say what their work is like, but I became disappointed when I wasn't called back. I did like both brothers, I just think some things got lost between the two. Not really sure. We ended going with another company who did a fabulous job. So all in all the work got done. read more

My son hit out part of our building, as he came back drunk. As he was trying to park the car on the evening ( on a Friday, no less) I was panicking that someone or something might sneak in, so I did a quick search and found fast response Construction & Masonry. I had called Wall Brothers for a quote on building a non-bearing concrete wall in our garden. Mark Wall ("I was born to be in this business!") showed up at the appointed time to review the job. Came with a colleague from the business, and they reviewed the job together. (PS. Both had masks on!) He promptly furnished a quote (he was the second to bid, and was the middle of the three bids). What convinced me to go with them was this: When they came to review the job, I had a reference sheet from City of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety...and Mark said that they build to a much higher standard, and described including more rebar than the city requires, etc. He also talked about specifically matching the existing wall. His priorities seemed to match ours. Mark had said that they would be showing up at 7AM on the appointed day, and texted me at 7 to tell me that they would be 10 minutes late. I really appreciated that, as I had recently used a contractor who showed up when they chose to show up. Wall Brothers is clearly client-focused. Mark said that the job would be 3-4 days, and it was done in under 3. New wall matches the existing wall (and it's not a standard concrete block size) well. Crew was friendly and accessible throughout the job. There was a small miscommunication that was quickly corrected without incident, another measure of a good firm. Finally, each day, the crew left the site cleaned up. When the job was completed, one of the crew remained to clean up the site, and other than the new wall, you would not know a construction crew had been here this week! I'm entirely comfortable referring Wall Brothers Construction for their concrete/masonry work, and will certainly be calling them again as needed. My husband and I reached out to Mark because the roots of a large tree in our backyard caused massive damage to our retaining wall. Mark was able to come by the same day to review the problem and we immediately knew that Mark was extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy as he provided very detailed explanations and honest feedback. Once the job started, Mark and his team worked extremely hard and efficiently. It was impressive how quickly they finished the job and most importantly, the outcome was fantastic. The wall looked so much better than we expected. We also noticed during our final inspection, that Mark had included drainage holes at the bottom of the wall to protect it from water exposure and to maintain the integrity of the wall. We were delighted. We didn't have that in our wall previously. Also, one of the great things about this company is that they are truly customer-centered. Mark gave us great advice on other trees in our backyard and answered numerous questions we had that were not related to the project. Finally, when they reinstalled the wooden fence on top of the concrete wall, they took extra time and energy to ensure that the fence was in better condition than when they arrived. PRICE & QUALITY: 5 stars Mark was the final of 4 quotes I received for demolishing and re-building 2 6ft tall block walls spanning 160 ft in length. Not only did he underbid all of the others, but he also went above and beyond to ensure the details of the project were taken care of. His bid even included removing multiple large dying cypress trees and cutting them up! Which would have cost extra from the other companies, or would have required a separate team. COMMUNICATION: 5 Stars From the get go, Mark was the only one to look at the project and weigh in with actual feedback regarding what should be done, both structurally, and aesthetically with the area. His communication was top notch; he was the most responsive of any contractor I have ever spoke to, and I always felt like what I said was being heard/understood. I should probably note, his team was also great (one of them was easily one of the hardest workers I have ever seen). CUSTOMER SERVICE: 5 Stars Weeks after all was said and done, we received complaint from my neighbor that they were upset with the fact that the gate on their side no longer fit. We knew from the get go this would happen since the old wall was ancient and much wider. Mark was not responsible for the gates, but immediately responded and returned to fix the gates at no additional cost, just to help save the relationship between myself and the neighbor. CLOSING STATEMENT: I was on the fence (pun intended) for MONTHS, paralyzed by the cost and disappointed by the communication of the other highly rated companies, so I decided to give the one with only 10 reviews a shot. I couldn't be happier I did; if I ever need ANY concrete/mason work in the future, I will definitely be starting here. The retaining wall and fence they constructed on the side of our home were built perfectly in a short period of time. Our homeowners assn. needed to replace 8 large mailbox units. We ordered the boxes and hired Wall Bros to install them. They did a great job! They shored up crumbling concrete bases, hauled away old boxes and packing material from new boxes, and worked carefully to not scratch or damage the new boxes. We needed to replace a 71-foot retaining wall that was leaning toward our property. We contacted several construction companies and got 8 estimates. Several estimators looked at our wall, promised an estimate and never got back to us. Others gave an estimate but refused to give references. Wall Brothers showed up on time, examined the wall and gave us a written estimate that evening. It was very reasonable. Mark, the owner, gave us references.
