2nd review after actually work completed…read more.... I don't hand out trust easily with contractors. After years in real estate, I've learned to vet hard before committing, and Fred earned it. We put him through it. Best price by a clear margin, but that's not why we picked him. We were meticulous: multiple bids, endless questions, more back-and-forth emails than any reasonable contractor should have to tolerate. Fred almost walked away from the job because we were so detail-oriented. He didn't. He stuck with us, stayed patient through every round of questions, and then delivered exactly what he promised. The demolition wrapped a full day ahead of schedule. We'd actually bet him it would take longer given the concrete he had to break through, and I won. That concrete had a story: our home was originally built by a set builder, and back in 1951 to 1954 he, his wife, and their friends poured it themselves. Seven decades later it had almost no cracking, aside from a little tree root intrusion. Fred and his crew handled it fast and clean anyway. If you're the kind of person who researches everything before hiring, Fred is who you want on the other end of those emails. Glad our paths crossed. First Review.... Fred at Coastline DC is the real deal. Our paths crossed when I was getting demolition bids, and even at that early stage he gave me his full time and clearly knew his trade inside and out. Pricing was competitive, he was friendly throughout, and he was straight with me about exactly what he would and wouldn't take on. He even pointed me to a resource that saved my family real money, with nothing in it for him. A genuine stand-up guy who knows what he wants and what he doesn't. I look forward to crossing paths with him again and recommend him without hesitation.

I then made arrangements to clear the property, scheduled other dependent work (aka roof and plumbing) immediately following, and was ready to meet him at 8:15am on the project start date. He contacted me at 6:45am demanding that all cars in the driveway be removed (90 min early). After complying, I went out and he only then told me that he underestimated the project and could not complete the demo. I now have $30k in planned work I have to cancel or postpone and am a week delayed in my renovation. This is beyond unprofessional, it's unethical. Whatever you do, don't hire Coastline D&C.

Eric and Paul communicated the timeline and project steps well, and we were happy with the overall process. Removing a pool and regrading the hillside is messy work, but they cleaned up after completing everything. And the crew kept the work site tidy at the end of each day. All team members at the job site were friendly and thoughtful.

We are very happy with the work, the speed, and his daily oversight of the project. He is hands on. It's been a pleasure to work with him. I will be sure to recommend him at every opportunity. We love working with Danny. We've now hired him and his team for three projects: replacing exterior…read moredoors and repairing drywall, replacing our HVAC system and ducts, and removing two ficus trees and installing a concrete pad for a shed. His team is professional, the work has been excellent, and Danny makes the whole process easier on us as homeowners. The doors and drywall came out beautifully, during that project recommended a shade mesh above our hot tub, and installed it free of charge (great recommendation). With the new HVAC and ductwork, our house now heats much more evenly than it did before. He also replaced the large, unattractive platform under our old rooftop unit with a much smaller, nicer-looking one and did a flawless job repairing the roof around it. He's not once asked us for a change order. What really makes us recommend Danny, though, is how he handles problems. Our new HVAC wasn't working on a very hot day in August. Before we even asked, and before he knew what was causing the problem, he offered to pay for a hotel room that night and brought over an AC unit to try to cool our bedroom. When he discovered the next day that the problem was a wiring issue on his team's end, he told us directly and got it taken care of. We really appreciated both the honesty and the fact that his first instinct was to help us, at his own expense, before he even knew whether the issue was his responsibility. On another occasion, when we mentioned some very minor property damage caused by his crew and specifically said we weren't asking to be compensated, he reimbursed us anyway. We really appreciate not having to argue or chase someone down to make things right. He's also a genuinely thoughtful person. He offered to put up a mezuzah for us at no charge. Our daughter was born early the day before the tree-removal project, and Danny handled the work while we were in the hospital. The finished project came out perfectly, and he even got us a balloon and chocolate to celebrate her arrival. Those personal touches aren't something we expect from a contractor, but we certainly appreciate them. Danny isn't the cheapest, but we feel the quality of the work and the attention he gives his customers are worth paying for. He knows what he's talking about, gives us straight answers, and follows through. Beyond all of that, we just enjoy working with him. We're now preparing for our next project with Danny: finally converting our garage into an ADU. Having worked with him on three projects already, we feel really good about trusting him with this one. We would absolutely recommend him.

We had an excellent experience with Danny and My Cali Builders installing artificial turf at our…read morerental property in Thousand Oaks. What made this project especially important to us was that we managed the entire job remotely from our home in Northern California. Danny made that process remarkably easy. He communicated consistently, answered every question thoroughly, sent frequent photos and videos, and kept us informed throughout the preparation and installation. We never felt out of the loop. The quality of the work was outstanding. Their team removed the existing decomposed granite, properly prepared and graded the area, installed and compacted a base, added the weed barrier, carefully laid and trimmed the turf around curved borders and existing stepping stones, secured the edges and seams, applied the upgraded zeolite infill, and power-broomed the finished surface. They clearly cared about the details--not just whether it looks good on installation day. Danny also stood out during the bidding process. We received several quotes, and he was transparent about the exact turf product, specifications, backing, base preparation, and infill options. He did not simply recommend the most expensive upgrade. Instead, he explained what he believed was the best balance of durability, appearance, and long-term value for a family rental property. That honesty gave us a great deal of confidence. The finished yard looks great. The turf has a lush, natural appearance, the curved edges and transitions were handled beautifully, and the existing pavers, mature landscaping, and black lava-rock planter areas were preserved and integrated very well. Most importantly, our tenants are thrilled with the result, and so are we. Danny and his crew were professional, responsive, easy to work with, and clearly took pride in doing a quality job. Managing a major landscaping project from several hundred miles away could have been stressful, but they made it straightforward and reassuring. We would absolutely recommend My Cali Builders to anyone considering artificial turf or outdoor improvements. They earned every one of these five stars.
