Lunch/dinner/overall vibe is a solid 4.5. This 2-star review is for the brunch. We eat dinner at WALK fairly often. We bring out of town friends in. We love this place. Finally made it in for brunch this morning and it was frankly really disappointing. I got the Florentine and the eggs were perfectly poached, spinach and tomatoes were lovely...but it was doused in a runny flavorless hollandaise. Heart breaking. Made the English muffin soggy and just generally ruined the dish-especially because when the other ingredients are spinach and eggs you are relying pretty heavily on the hollandaise for flavor. And I love hollandaise. Doused it in hot sauce and ate half. Was also pumped that it came with an arugula salad but the dressing was just...oil? No vinegar/acid? Just. Oil. So bizarre. Husband got one of the specials- duck sausage omelette. Again, perfectly cooked but needed sauce/seasoning/something. We both got a side of bland potatoes. Womp womp. Bloodies were pretty decent. So that was nice. This made me so sad y'all. Service was as always good and the space is great. Just...man. That was a rough brunch. read more

This place is awesome. Very eccentric atmosphere with exposed brick, wood and fun lighting. Our dinner was on point. Fresh salads, killer sweet potato tots and a flavorful chicken avocado sandwich. After a morning run through town and a long walk along the river, we stopped in here for a bite to eat and a beer. Our son recommended this spot and really hyped up the Super Queso, and it didn't disappoint!! This flavorful dip paired perfectly with the local IPA we selected, and we enjoyed great conversation with our waiter as well! I've been to this place a few times & each time was a good experience. I've now had every meal possible there. For brunch I had migas & they were great! The manmosa was good too. I want so badly to give this place a higher rating. The food was great but man, our server pooped the bed, twice. Hopefully you have better luck because it is really a cool spot and they offer some good specials. I just can't see past the fact that we came on 2 separate occasions, months a part from each other, and our service was inexcusably inattentive, both times. I think/hope this is an anomaly scenario. After a day at Biltmore, we were ready for some more down to earth Asheville fare. This place hit the spot. I had the burrito salad. I ordered it with no dressing but it came out with dressing on it but it was still good. My husband had the pork tacos, he ate every bit of them. The best thing we had was the homemade pico to Gallo! The atmosphere is pretty cool and it's close to the French Broad River put in. The service was good will probably be back in the future! read more

I love that they serve until 1am because, sometimes that is important and I love that they have a good deal for their tacos on Tuesday! I am usually pleased with the food but I am not overly excited. It has always been a little bland or stale but I like their menu selection! With just a little extra TLC, this place could be gold. The location is great and after a night of drinking and fun at Double Crown or Admiral, it is walkable (lol) and affordable. Sick of being in a crowded bar? Oh Asheville how I love you. There are so many good food choices and WALK is no exception. My husband & I have been here at least half a dozen times and every single time we've been lucky and not had to wait at all. It does appear to get busy right after we arrive and people start having to wait for a table. I've tried many different things on their menu, from the street tacos, to several of their salads, a snadwhich or two and the specials that appear to change regularly. There is something for everyone on the menu. My father inlaw came down and had the wings and kept remarking that they were huge. :) I think the only negative is the street parking situation, I've never once seen this part of Haywood with tons of open spots, you know that means it's popular. I always park way down the road near OWL bakery and walk up. Not a biggie at all, but thought I'd mention it. read more

Small hamburger with a perfectly toasted bun for only $4...the perfect portion size for someone with a lighter appetite who also wants to enjoy the side dishes. If you're looking for a terrific meal out, don't go to Walk (but do hit the Admiral across the street), but if you want upscale bar food with a nice atmosphere, great prices, and a good draft selection, give the Walk a try. In a city overrun with good restaurants, there were a surprising lack of places to find a good burger, a good chicken sandwich, a good salad and a good atmosphere. It was really the Universal Joint....and....well, that was it. Then came the Walk--it's got a much smaller menu than the UJ, but the specials are a lot more interesting and the atmosphere is much more open. A great addition to the Asheville scene and my new favorite place to hit for a good, cheap meal, and a good draft. read more

I came here for taco tuesday, and the unofficial Yelp event, and my overall impression of the place was very, very favorable. I had a few different kinds of tacos (they were 1.50 a piece, so go nuts). By a long shot, my favorite was the crispy "gringo" style taco, which is totally true-to-form 1980's birthday party food. Ground beef, some shredded iceberg, diced tomatoes, a few shreds of Jack cheese. Beautiful, nostalgic, simplicity in a crunchy shell. Then I had a bite of my brother's wings, which was awesomesauce. I mean seriously, the Sauce was Awesome, and the wings were cooked perfectly--the best I've had in Asheville. No joke. Also, Dales Pale Ale on tap (hallelujah), and Noble Hard Cider for the freaks among you who drink that sort of thing (you know who you are). The ambiance was lovely. Not overdone, but just nice comfortable space that felt spacious and intimate all at once, decently clean bathrooms, college basketball playing on flat screens over the bar, plenty of room for a crowd, but good acoustics so you could hear the person next to you without anyone having to shout. Service was excellent. Parking was kind of rough, but all-in-all, a solidly comfortable and relaxing space to enjoy excellent beers and some good bar food with friends. Stopped at this place during our first trip to Asheville! The food was good, but it wasn't anything too exciting. We tried to get a variety of things. SUPER QUESO is amazing and the staff ALL work together which makes ordering more drinks/food very easy. The Big Cheese Burger w/Bacon was cooked to a perfect medium deliciousness! The atmosphere and location of WALK were great as we were driving though Asheville. However, the food left a lot to be desired. One friend ordered the special hot dogs but they came served on a dry supermarket bun. He also ordered the sautéed kale which came out of the kitchen cold and sandy (suggesting it had not been properly cleaned). Another friend was content with his order of chicken tenders and green chili but found the French fries to be mushy and cold. I ordered chips, salsa and queso as an appetizer and a burrito bowl salad for my main course. The chips and queso met expectations but the salsa was bland and could have used some cilantro or lime to deepen its flavor. I ordered my salad without an ingredient included due to an intolerance. After eating it, it became apparent that the ingredient was included somewhere else in the dish, likely in the dressing. read more

We have been into finding new places to go for lunch. WALK is not new, but it is new to us so we gave it a whirl. Had not problem parking which was an initial concern of mine, but we were off the street and in within minutes. We just happened to walk into Taco Tuuesday, which seems to be somewhat of a fad around town these days. I was not in the mood for a taco, so checked out that looked like a very yummy menu. This place is rustic! I love rustic! Tables, booths, a bar...lots to choose from. We got a table in the front window for optimum WAVL watching. Prompt service with a smile...$2 PRB? I believe I will, thank you! I had a hankering for a burger and they had 2 options on the menu...BIG and SMALL. Now I know what BIG burger means in AVL...it means BIG AS YOUR HEAD! So having also spotted mac and cheese on the menu (who can resist), I order the SMALL burger and a side of mac and cheese. The burger was moist and delicious and comblned with mac and cheese to die for, it was the perfect amount of food. The wife ordered a couple of fish tacos that she seemed to really enjoy.....did I say $2 PBR (again!). Overall, a very enjoyable lunch in a clean, well lit place (to quote Hemmingway) and very affordable. read more

WALK is a super fun spot on the West side of the river. Coming from a visitor, Asheville is kicking some serious food tail, and West Asheville is holding it's own. WALK offered the perfect lunch after a beautiful day hike. The super queso was unique and delicious. The addition of ground beef and beans makes the dip a game changer. The steak and pork sandwiches were packed with flavor, and overflowing with meat. The chefs are definitely crafting up some cool lunch fare. I love the restaurant spaces in Asheville. WALK is another beauty boasting the high ceilings and exposed brick. WALK is a spot to put on the list. read more

I work right down the street from WALK so it is one of our "go-tos" for lunch, dinner, and everything in between. I call in to-go orders *at least* three times a week (and I only work at this job 3 days a week). This has gone on for about a year now. I am still not recognized by the staff and am usually ignored at the bar when I come to pick up orders. (To be fair, a few individuals have started to recognize me just this past month.) The food is mediocre at best and the service is poor. My to-go order is more often wrong than not. Occasionally they will have an awesome special that's totally worth it but overall I am completely unimpressed with this place and eat here for primarily for convenience. Let me back up a little. The chicken tenders are *awesome*. First and foremost, the sweet potato tots are absolutely delicious. They melt in your mouth and are a must get. The atmosphere is acceptable with good music. My family and I went at a quiet hour of the day so I can't say how this place is while they are busy. The service was decent. I ordered 3 tacos which were also pretty decent. The meat was a little dry but it was much better than what you would get at Taco Bell. Asheville is always expanding with new restaurants. This was MY FAVORITE new restaurant since I moved from Asheville. I got the chicken sandwich with local West End Bakery bread (I traded out for this bread instead of brioche or ciabatta). WALK is a great place to meet up with friends or for a casual date night to get a delicious drink and tasty bites of food that are creative and well-priced. Their daily specials always feature an inventive spin on great ingredients. Tonite, we shared Kobe beef sliders, with blackberry chipotle aioli, arugula, drunken goat cheese and caramelized onions on ciabatta with a pickle spear and ordered a side salad with their house made blue cheese dressing. The Kobe was tender, well seasoned with a nice seared crust on the outside and the contrast of the blackberry chipotle and the goat cheese were excellent with the peppery bite of the arugula and the smooth flavor of the onions. Awesome flavor combinations and perfect to share with a date or friend. We also shared a basket of chicken wings, perfectly fried, crispy crunchy skin outside, tender and juicy inside, tossed in their habanero bbq sauce. WALK has some of the best, most consistent wings in town. WALK is a fan favorite with daily specials, a great place to catch the game, hang with friends and enjoy the evening. read more
