We just came back from vacation and we were preparing our toiletries for next trip. There were 8 OTC items that I wanted to stock up for home and for future trips as we were getting low. I went to Walgreens and I was not finding one of the items. I asked a clerk where it would be. She said "there" and waved her hand in the direction of the aisle. I told her that I looked there and was looking for a bottle of it and could not find what I wanted. She said "I just reset it and that's where it is." Still without helping me. It is not until I asked her name did she seem to try to help in the littlest way as possible. She left as I was still trying to find where it was. Never finished helping me. It is not as if I can't find usually find items, and I did not ask till I tried my best. I left without buying anything. I calculated that it would be about $144 for the 8 items. In addition to this incident I pulled my prescriptions from Walgreens. Two of my friends also pulled theirs from Walgreens. The name that the clerk gave me was Katherine/Catherine (sp). There's a reason this location is so poorly rated. Horrible customer service, not doing what was assured, and hanging up on folks and then not answering. My same day delivery order was not going to be delivered until the next morning, which was too late. I called to cancel it. Guy assured me he did. I get a notification early next day that my order would be delivered shortly after 7. Called again and got hung up on. Called a second time today to get no answer. Called from a different number and got an answer telling me they didn't hear me say anything. No, the first time I called, I was hung up on. Of course you're not going to hear anything on the other end of a disconnected call. This is frustrating and ridiculous. No real apology just excuses. Then, the delivery instructions were not followed at all. It's a wonder I even received the order. read more

Hello. I have been a Bartell's customer for over 25 years. Recently, my primary, secondary, and third(dary) Bartell's locations were closed. Without my knowledge or consent, all of my prescriptions were transferred--SOLD--to Walgreens, specifically to the Broadway location in Seattle. I went there tonight to try you out and get my ambien prescritipion filled. Ambien, as you know, is a sleep aid, and I have taken it for years. If this email has a time stamp, you will see that I am writing after midnight. This is because I cannot sleep. To find out more about why I cannot sleep tonight, please read further: When I arrived at your Broadway location, which your website and Google both stated was open until 8:00pm, I was shocked to find out that the pharmacy portion was already closed. (I would suggest more accurate wording, such as "Walgreen's convenience store open until 9:00pm; Walgreen's pharmacy closes at 7:00". I arrived at 7:02pm and the place was completely shuttered--no sign of life whatsover. I left and went to a Bartell's location that was open until 9:00pm. It was there I was informed that because of the "sale" (to which I was not privy, nor did I give permission to "sell" my prescriptions to you), my prescriptions were no longer accessible within any Bartell's and I would have to go to Walgreens. I don't want to go to Walgreens--here's why: I then drove to another Walgreen's in Seattle, whose website and Google stated the PHARMACY was open until 8:00pm. At 7:40, I arrived and the pharmacy was completely shuttered--closed--no sign of life. That was the Jackson Street location. One last try: I found a Walgreens on the website that stated it was open until 10:00pm, with the pharmacy open until 9:00pm--Rainier Ave S. I went there and, to my surprise and delight, the pharmacy was OPEN! Then I attempted to fill my prescription that I was told was now in your system. That's when I was told the disappointing and INCORRECT news--that because Zolpidem Tartrate is a class IV controlled substance, I would have to fill it first at the Broadway location--the one that is closed--first, before it could be filled elsewhere. I reminded the pharmacist that one of the benefits, I was told, of doing business with a company with a national network of pharmacies, was that I could get my prescription filled at any of your locations. She INCORRECTLY informed me that because it was a controlled substance, it would have to be filled at the specific pharmacy that YOUR COMPANY and BARTELL DRUGS conspired together to ASSIGN to me without asking first! If the prescription had just stayed within the Bartell's network, I could have--and often did--had it filled anywhere (that is left). SO, when I got home, I looked up the law: The Controlled Substance Act (CSA) was signed into law by Richard Nixon in 1970. Since then, there have been many updates to the law. I am happy to email you the current law, or you can check it out at: https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfcfr/CFRSearch.cfm?CFRPart=1306&showFR=1#:~:text=(a)%20The%20pharmacist%20filling%20a,issuing%20the%20prescription%2C%20and%20directions You can clearly see that nowhere in the law does it say that, after a prescription for a class IV controlled substance has been electronically transferred from one pharmacy company to another, does the prescribed need to go to the specific location of any particular "assigned" pharmacy branch in order to receive their prescription. The pharmacist at the RAINER AVE location could clearly see, in your system, records that match mine, and the drug--which was not filled, by the way--ready to fill. Under the law, you could have and should have serviced me tonight at that location instead of allowing YOUR OWN policies and INCORRECT interpretations of the law to prevent you from earning a loyal customer in me tonight. I called to see if they had walk-in appointments available today for Covid vaccines and they said we could come and walk in to do the vaccines when we arrived at 3:45 PM. They asked if we had an appointment. I said we didn't and we were told on the phone that we could walk in. The lead pharmacist defensively said "you didn't talk to me" and I responded that I didn't know who I spoke to, but they confirmed we could come in for a walk in. Then they said they would not be able to take any walk-ins because they had appointments for the next two hours. read more

There's a lot of negative reviews here about this store and I'm going to be contrary. I just got my Covid booster here and the staff were all really great. I have needle anxiety and the person who checked us in was friendly and kind. She made some accommodations for us. The wait was about 30 minutes but I have a lot of grace for these folks, especially knowing they are probably very flooded with vaccine requests and a slow moving market. The pharmacist was understanding of My anxiety and was thoughtful about how he gave the shot. We bought a few items on our way out and the cashier was so lovely. She engaged me in a friendly warm Convo. I think I may drive the extra few minutes to go to this store in the future. Good job folks read more

Pharmacy hours differ widely from everything you see online. So they will be closed when you arrive if however you got lucky and they are open, Your prescription that should have been ready 5 hours ago will actually be ready about half an hour after you arrive. But luckily you can skip the line and just approach any of the several sketchy individuals who constantly congregate in the parking lot. If you can look past at least one of those individuals terrifying demeanor, they probably just picked up there prescription and will sell it to you cash right out front. Pretty genius for this location to have such a dangerous but convenient alternative to the "Pharmacy". read more

Walgreens denies COVID testing unless you are in a car. This flagrantly discriminates against the many disabled, low-income, essential workers, and others who must use public transportation or walk. Also, the so-called corporate headquarters immediately disconnects you if you call from a cell phone (I tried two different numbers, both of which make long distance calls). Outrageous. read more

do NOT get your passport photos taken here. we came in about 2 weeks ago for passport photos. i'll try to be as brief as possible. here's why the experience was notably bad: 1. they didn't have their own camera, so they said they needed to use my phone. discount offered? nope. 2. pic taken, wait 5 minutes to import from phone to computer. 3. employee starts airbrushing my kid's hair from the sides of the pic on the screen. i said, i'm pretty sure that's not allowed. she said it's fine, and they do it all the time to make the background white anyway. 4. I check the US govt website, and said it expressly states that altering the photo IN ANY WAY is against the law. 5. employee can't undo the changes, so we have to start over. 6. we go get a scrunchie to pull kid's hair back 7. kid wants to leave a couple strands hanging down on sides of face. 8. employee says nothing & takes pic, 5 min for import again 9. employee begins airbrushing background, but not kid's hair this time 10. i again state that the website says that's not allowed. 11. employee can't undo changes. says we need to import from my phone again. 5 more minutes for 3rd import. 12. employee processes & delivers photos with still no comment about kid's hair. states that we can come back and be refunded if the pics aren't accepted for any reason. we pay and leave. 13. fwd to passport appointment. agent says photos unacceptable. i explain what happened at Walgreens. agent says they end up having to reject a lot of photos from walgreens. 14. passport agency takes photos (with their own camera) and charges $5 less than walgreens. 15. we return today to walgreens for refund. different employee working at photo desk begins to process transaction. 16. manager comes over and loudly states that she remembers when we were in before and that we screwed up by insisting my kid's bit of hair hangs down on the side. i explain that we never insisted anything, walgreens never told us it was wrong, it was never discussed at all, but what Walgreens DID do was try to illegally airbrush photos that were intended to be part of a government document, TWICE. manager refuses to acknowledge this, and continues to try to argue that it was all our fault, but they'll reimburse us anyway. i guess it's sweet that the manager felt to come out of nowhere to start an argument & defend their employee? i tried to calmly explain where THEY went wrong, but i dont believe they learned anything from either encounter. at least WE did :) ....and so we won't be returning. you've been warned read more

I made an appointment for a COVID Booster, Flu shot and a Pneumonia vaccine. The soonest appointment I could make was 2.5 weeks out. I made this appointment, which was for exactly 10:45, but when I got there I found a line , with two people ahead of me who were also waiting for their vaccines plus other people for prescriptions. I saw only one person behind the counter. I waited 30 minutes and then had to leave to get back to work. Why make an appointment?? I had tried months prior to see if I could just walk-in for the vaccine but I was told they had a limited amount of shots and I would have to make an appointment. Two days later I was in Safeway and asked them when I would able to get a vaccine and they said, "no problem, fill out the paperwork and we can give you all three shots in 1/2 hour"! Two days ago I called in to refill a prescription and the voice answering said that because the pharmacy was closed I could not leave the prescription # and my name and DOB. Other Walgreens I have used I have been able to do it but not this one. Today I called at 10:00am to refill the prescription. I waited on the phone for one hour and 23 minutes (I did my dishes and washed my kitchen floor while listening to the recorded message) Finally a woman answered my call but when I started to give my DOB and name we were disconnected!! Is the pay that low at WAlGREENS? Raise the wages and increase the benefits so you can hire more staff!! What a terrible way to run a business. I'm taking all of my business elsewhere and I caution anyone who has a life,other than listening to , "We are sorry but our staff is busy answering other calls please hold on and we will be with you shortly" to use a different pharmacy. read more

I just wanted to take a moment and thank the Pharmacy staff of my local Walgreens. I have been a customer for about four years. What I've observed is they are incredibly understaffed and super busy, and yet they always work super hard. I went here for a Covid-19 vaccination today and it was super easy. I was in and out in under an hour, and that includes just waiting around to see if I had a reaction. When I compare my experience here to virtually any CVS, the wait times at Walgreens are an order of magnitude shorter, the staff are significantly more professional, and it's clear they prioritize the customer experience. That's really hard for pharmacies to do these days and for that, they have my gratitude. read more

I had a very negative experience with the MD on call at Virginia Mason - she incorrectly prescribed the low dose of Paxlovid as I discovered when my wife went to pick up the prescription. Twice the pharmacist Jen had to call the provider to straighten things out. Jen is outstanding - she was competent and reassuring throughout. And she even followed up to check up on me four days later. I couldn't ask for better care. read more

This Walgrens isn't as busy as others, I could leisurely shop with no stress, or be able to get my items and go. You may not find everything you need, but they have a good amount of things. I mostly came here for the photo services. Had sent some photos via my iPhone to their Photo Department and they we're ready to pick up in an hour. Walgreens photo app makes it soo easier and convenient printing photos. The register lines are average but the speed mainly depends on the intelligence of the customer. The store is clean and organized. Don't forget to sign up for discounts and deals. If you are not a member. I will be deffinitely be making a trek out here again. read more

I went there to print photos and despite confirming the order and giving me a time to pick up, when I got there they said they didn't know how to run their 5x7 printer and so I was out of luck and had to go elsewhere. In addition, their mask policy wasn't being enforced at all. The staff was for the most part nice but it's clear that they're not being given the tools they need to succeed like basic education on how to work their printers or a security guard to help them enforce the mask policy. Absolutely go to another Walgreens, this one isn't worth the headache. read more

I know it's the pandemic and Walgreens is likely understaffed, but damn my experience here a few days ago was disappointing. I was trying to get help at the photo counter. I pressed the service button and an announcement went on over the loudspeaker to have service at the photo counter. Then a few other announcements came on at the same time for other parts of the store. It was clear there just weren't enough employees to help everyone who needed help. Finally an employee came over, gave me a "yes/no" answer to my question, then briskly walked away and was nowhere to be found. I was not helped. It's the typical Walgreens but this Columbia City location is nice because there's really no other full service drugstore close by. One thing I like about this location is the greeting cards. Whoever is in charge of buying the greeting cards for this location gets kudos. They haven't just filled the racks with mundane, run-of-the-mill sappy vanilla Hallmark cards, they've also added some alternative and edgy cards for those of us who want to express ourselves a little more creatively or colorfully. Walked up to the counter and asked how much and the lady said she didn't know and start entering my info into the computer and told me to wait......15 mins.......With only two or three other customers. Finally she call me over and scan the barcode and it was $101. I said nvm, I will check somewhere else. Went to the rite aid couple blocks away, about the same amount of customers, I said Walgreen charge $101 on this and how much do you guys charge. I came to this store after searching online for a OTC relief for a problem I was having. I walked up to the counter to ask the pharmacist for help. Amy gave me attitude from the minute she walked up to the window. I asked her if they had a specific product and showed her the picture including the store location saying this store had it. She said we don't have that, we just have herbal remedies. I said are you sure because it says this store has them. She said no and said the only thing they have other than that is prescription only. I asked her again if they had anything like this and what aisle it would be on. She said 17 so I searched and couldn't find it and I came back and asked if she could call for help or come out and help. I finally got someone to help and we couldn't find it. She went and asked her manager to come and help and her manager gave me attitude as well and proceeded to say it's on aisle 16 halfway down on your right. I said thank you and went over there to look by myself. I found it! Amy the pharmacist, if you don't like your job or if you don't like people maybe you should get into a different line of work in which you wouldn't have to deal with other humans. Treat others how you want to be treated is a simple lesson we learn when we are 4 years old. Your paycheck depends on customers finding what they need and buying it. You and your coworkers made this Walgreens experience a horrible one. I will do my shopping elsewhere from now on. I wish I could give zero stars because this was not even worth 1 star. read more

Besides the great reward deals on cosmetics and home supplies. I hate the pharmacy. Why did it have to take 6 hours to respond to my prescription request and then tell me they do not take medco. My nurse voicemailed in a prescription for me at 10:30 am, I call at 11:30 am to check in the status. They have not yet received it.. I called my nurse and confirmed its been transferred.. I show up a few hours later to drop of my medco info and see if I can pick it up. They told me they would call me as soon as it is ready, about an hour.. 3 hours later I Called them, and they told me they do not take medco. Wtf! I needed antibiotics, I'm not feeling well.. There is no sense of urgency. Pharmacies like these are killing there patients. I'm extremely upset with their service. read more

Please travel about 2 more minutes north on Rainier Avenue instead of coming here. There you will find a beautiful and well-staffed Bartells which will make you happier than this store will. I used to come here before the Bartells. I was disappointed every time, whether it was about the slow-moving retail staff, the cramped feeling I got about their inventory, the sketchy youths [insert My Cousin Vinny voice here] that hang out interminably at that bus stop on Genesee, etc. The last straw was when I was purposely bumped into (not gently) by two teens who were exiting as I was entering. They shouted at ME, even. I raised my voice to them and moved on along inside the store so as to not waste my time any longer. Their security guard dude was *right there* 5 feet inside the store. There's not much that sets this Walgreens apart from any other Walgreens. I have to say, though, that a couple of the checkout folks are REALLY super friendly. I've had fun conversations with several of them, which is surprising, as usually drugstore staff might as well be robotic drones. However, there has been a few times when the lines are just way too long, and no one comes out to help the poor lonely single checkout person. Eek. I spent 30 minutes waiting in line. The cashier was super friendly and nice but was crazy slow. She tried to get another cashier up a few times as the line grew and grew but it was a good 15 minutes into waiting before the guy arrived to help. Hiring an incompetent pharmacist will pull your business down. I called in prescription for a patient. am not sure if she's mocking me or just plain incompetent... I timed my call. She took more than 10 minutes taking one prescription. Took 2 seconds per letter and when I spell just a tad faster, after 2 letters I had to spell again. Really? I asked if she's writing down the prescription and she said yes! Wow! And her feelings are hurt because I told her she's so slow! I have other things to do. If she s a pharmacist and it takes her that long to write down a prescription --- and she's paid that much then the company is losing money and will definitely lose customers. Just wow! read more

Bad . I go there only because it is close. Calls to the recorded line are never returned. They dispense three months of meds at a time even though I have asked them not to. If a doctor does not want to refill , they do not call you . The pharmacy staff is totally unresponsive . Weird , just a placid expression and no response. read more

This review is for the pharmacy only. The rest of the drugstore is okay... slightly disorganized, but the cashiers are usually friendly and very service-oriented despite how hectic it can get in there (kudos for that). Ok, the pharmacy review. Wow. Abomination. A really tragic excuse for a pharmacy and pharmacist. Here's some thoughts on why my opinion is that way: I found the pharmacist to have complete unawareness about patient and people sensitivity. Examples of what occurred: 1) she calls my OBGYN doctor to confirm my prescription and has the entire call VERY LOUDLY projecting on the speaker phone. Yes, everyone in the store now knows which doctor specifically I go to, what my full name is, my date of birth, and my prescription order. It didn't seem to be in line with normal pharmacy/pharmacist protocol around patient sensitivity. 2) I'm having the prescription filled for a very sensitive procedure and situation. It's been one that's had me in tears a great part of the past couple of weeks. The pharmacist then proceeds to explain to me why she's calling in a very loud voice announcing that she wanted to make sure that I had the right dosage of pills to put into my VAGINA. Let me stress that she loudly repeated that over and over - I wanted to punch her (but I did not). 3) The doctor wrote EXPLICITLY on the prescription order how many milligrams she wanted me to have = 200MG to be exact. The pharmacist calls to confirm and plans to fill the order for 400MGs after speaking with another doctor that is on call at the time. I didn't like the way this was going, so I asked her to hand me my prescription order and that I wanted to go elsewhere. Which she did - gave me my prescription orders back and elsewhere I went as quickly as I could (never to return). ----------------------- Off I go down the street to the next pharmacy my eyes can spot - Safeway. The Safeway pharmacist by stark huge comparison demonstrates everything Walgreen's incompetent pharmacist did not. Vastly different - in a very good way. Professionalism. He had to enter my information since I had never been to Safeway for my pharmacy needs. He asks me quietly to the side to enter in my information discreetly so that those standing in line could not hear us. 20 minutes later, I get my prescription order filled. He quietly explains the medication to me. Again, no one standing in line behind me could hear us. He even gets slightly shy about having to say the word vagina. Dudes, I'd rather have the pharmacist (Safeway) with a slight case of modesty than one with the foot in mouth disease(Walgreens). ------------------------- I reach out to my doctor again anyways on my prescription order. My doctor calls me (less than 24 hours later) to confirm that I should only take 200MG, not the 400MG. Thank goodness I checked. So in summary, I question the professionalism. I question the sensitivity of the pharmacist in knowing how to deal with people or patients (it's not usually happy bouncing healthy people that are going to the pharmacist to get prescriptions filled). I question her ability to read prescription orders. If you have an important pharmacy need, I would probably avoid going here. Run, far far far away. Don't risk your life here. read more
