Sure, they had a terrible terrible time during the pandemic and the weird hash of bull*** that surrounded service work in the aftermath. Things are better with this pharmacy now and it's just like a regular old fine-enough pharmacy. They're impossible to get ahold of and so there are sometimes some surprises at the counter, and they seem to have transitioned to another app to run the online stuff and the transition could have been smoother, but hey, it's Safeway. The worst pharmacy I've been an apart of. I've been a customer for 5 years now and they continue to get my medications wrong every single time. The medication I take comes in 2 different doses in order to deliver the right amount. Every single time, the pharmacist decides I only need one of those filled and the other one was a mistake. This has been going on for YEARS. Now I get my meds in a 3 month supply to avoid dealing with the incompetence there so frequently. Now, they mess it up because they think it's only a 1 month supply and takes multiple trips to actually get all of my medications. Most of these trips I could avoid if they actually answered the phone. Every time I have a refill I attempt to call them at least 3 times and never had anyone EVER pick up the phone. Then the line is insanely long and the wait is typically 15-20 minutes to even talk with the rep. THEN when they don't have my meds ready I'm waiting for another hour. Only for them to CLOSE for 30 minutes. When I arrive in plenty of time but due to their incompetence I continue to need to make multiple trips. Over it. The only reason they have 2 stars is because they are kind. However kindness can only go so far. I'm so tired of this game every single time I try to refill my meds. read more

I see some really nasty reviews here and cannot understand why. I've been going to this Ballard Safeway pharmacy since Rite Aid's inept and bungled acquisition of Bartell Drugs and have had no problems. The staff are knowledgeable, respectful, and helpful. I rarely have problems renewing a scrip by phone, but it is not perfect. I also recognize that it's Safeway that's responsible for the phone system, not the pharmacists. On those rare occasions when something has gone wrong, I've been able to reach a human. Sorry I can't be as positive for the rest of the store, with racks of impulse displays obscuring shelves, specious claims of savings, and mis-priced items. Safeway/Cerberus Capital Management is understaffing this place and it is not fair to the employees. I avoid buying groceries here, preferring to go to TJ's, Ballard Market, up the hill to the new Metropolitan Market, or best of all, Costco Shoreline. read more

There is an employee there who is so unbelievably rude to customers. He has no patience for the most basic things. I'm not sure what type of rage he has in his personal life that he feels the need to be an asshole to customers but he needs to figure some shit out. I came to this pharmacy last month asking if my meds could be transferred here from Kelly Ross and was told it wouldn't be a problem. So far, so good. I've had my meds filled twice now and the pharmacy tech has gone out of her way to make sure everything was taken care of. She also seems very pleasant and friendly. My receipt says "scott" was the cashier but I doubt that's her name. This is also great because I don't go to the grocery store as much as I should so this gives me a good reason to go. read more

I've liked this Safeway Ballard pharmacy - friendly and close and usually organized. They have been advertising and sending texts to me saying - "No wait - get your flu or booster shot here." so I made an appt. online for 3:30 today.  I got to the pharmacy at 3:25 and the line to the ONE open window (ONE person working besides the pharmacist) was 6 people long. So, I popped my head into the waiting room (4 people were there) and asked if I could just wait in there as I had an appt. The very nice man (nurse administering the shots) said we had to check in so the 4 people and I headed out to stand in line behind everyone else. (No sign on the door so while waiting I stopped others and told them they needed to check in.) One window and one person (amazingly pleasant for how frustrated people were) to check people in (not as quick as it sounds) AND also get prescriptions.  God forbid someone had a question. I finally got my shots 25 mins after my appt and asked for the test kids I'd ordered (at Safeway's prompting) and was told I would have to stand in line again!!  I did but once I got back to the front, I was told that it would take awhile - they had to enter a prescription for them and I could pick them up another day.  Honestly, I was so concerned about the lady waiting in line behind me (maybe in her 90s and she looked exhausted) so I said I would come back another day.  Bottom line? For a 3:30 appt, I left the store 55 minutes later. So frustrating to see the large sign near the counter and fliers in the room all said, "SKIP THE LINE!" . Really??? Talk about over-promise/under-deliver. Very unhappy with Safeway. read more

this used to be a great pharmacy but whoever is managing now needs to be replaced. They say they're too busy to answer the phones but even during the pandemic they were answering the phones. plus they might be to busy because instead of calling and finding out if you're prescription is ready you have to go there and wait on line to be told it's not ready. then the pharmacist gets this look on her face like you're the one that's the problem. read more

The pharmacy at the Ballard Safeway is the most unresponsive pharmacy I have dealt with anywhere. As previous reviewers have said, they do not answer their phone nor do they return calls. Further, the pharmacy website requires that you first sign into your grocery account and then sign in (again) to your pharmacy account. Once in, the site is rather clumsy. Among other things, it has given me conflicting notifications as to the status of the prescription in question. Since they do not answer their phone or return messages, the only way I was able to get an unambiguous answer as to whether or not the prescription was ready was to go to the store in person. Avoid this pharmacy if at all possible! read more

A nightmare. This used to be a great pharmacy and then for some reason everyone quit. I take medications that I can't miss. You can't count on this Safeway to even answer their phone let alone get your medications filled on time. Multiple mistakes. This is a PHARMACY dispensing medications that can't be messed with. 3 medication errors. All on my children's medications. I cannot tell you how serious this is. The first one I did not catch and took home with me. My 9 yo daughter caught it. "Mommy these aren't my pills." Whew! Thank God it was a medication she took regularly. 2nd medication error, they gave pills to the wrong daughter. When I picked up the prescription I said these pills don't belong to that child, the technician told me oh I'll check on that. I said "these are my children I know what medications they take" he replied with another we'll look at it. I came back waited in line again, and was told that they didn't have the medication that was needed for my daughter. (They told me last week that they were ordering it and that it would be here by Wednesday it's now Friday) Again I was told they would look into it and asked if I would wait again. I stood online for third time. By this point I was quite aggravated because I was sick and had now waited three times more than I think I should have and stood on line three times twice more than I should have. There was some issue as to not having my club card so I wouldn't get credit for these prescriptions, towards reward program. I was so frustrated by this point I just wanted to check out and go home because I was sick. I had five items in my cart and there was now no longer anyone else at the pharmacy I asked them if they would ring up my five items and I was told there's a self-checkout in the front you can go use that. I've been using this Pharmacy since the store opened this was the straw that broke the camel's back. 3 MEDICATION ERRORS IN ONE FAMILY IS EXCESSIVE . Phone is not answered and messages are not heard. Safeway Pharmacy on Market does not answer their phone. The line instructs you to leave a message and says a pharmacy staff will return the call. I left a message yesterday, and again today. No one returned my call. Went in to store and Pharmacist said she had no time to take phone calls and that she will not bother to retrieve messages. Told her in that case, the voicemail message should not tell people to leave a message, because it misleads patients. The Pharmacist just gave a shrug. She may be overworked, but she is also licensed and has patients with medical needs, and she is ok lying to them. Also, rude. In effect you have to go in person to get your prescription filled. And there is no guarantee that they will have your medication in stock. But there is no way to know whether they do except by going in person. And either way they do not care. read more

The staff here are very friendly and helpful. I have had some trouble at times getting my prescriptions covered by insurance, and Jenny and the rest of the staff have been fantastic at helping to sort out the problems and make sure I get the meds when I need them. They are also very knowledgeable about the different meds and able to answer questions. I wouldn't go anywhere else! read more

I love the staff here. They are super nice and very efficient: Ryan, Banaz, the male pharmacist. They are the absolute BEST. The only person I'd give one star is the pharmacist Jenny. She can be nice and sweet at times but she doesn't handle pressure very well. I've seen her blow her lid and snap at people during rush hours, very unprofessional. She even yelled at the pharm tech that I was lying when I said my doctor called in a refill. Her words exactly "I don't care! He's lying! Yeah there's 3 orders ahead, I'll just snap my fingers and magically fill all of these in 3 seconds!" I was standing directly in front of her. I kind of love you Jenny, but not really. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR PRESCRIPTIONS HERE! In the past six months this pharmacy has messed up my prescriptions twice, both times giving me 30 pills instead of the 60 I am prescribed, yet charging me the price of 60 pills. Aren't they supposed to count and verify the pills before distributing them? Well this pharmacy clearly doesn't know how to count. Both times I have gone back to get my prescription corrected and they acted like they didn't understand how it could've happened. Maybe if the manager Jenny actually paid attention instead of blabbing about personal stuff all day with customers things would actually be done correctly. read more
