Quality/Quantity - My wife sent me to pick up some eye drops and I happened to just be in the middle of two Walgreens. She suggested that I go to this one as they have a parking lot. Atmosphere - Small urban Walgreens. High theft items either locked up or behind the counter. As expected in SF... Small parking lot. Unfortunately, the majority of cars that are parked here are NOT shopping here. I watched as people walked to their cars from ALL directions other than Walgreens. So frustrating. And I could not find street parking; I was about to drive to their other locations when someone finally and slowly gave up a parking space. Service - Excellent. Showed an employee a picture of what I needed. He walked me to the very back, unlocked the case, and handed it to me. Then left... I then walked back up front and got in line to pay. Shelton was tech savvy and both were so polite and very efficient. I really can't say enough. It's rare to find helpful people in retail settings these days. Walgreens you are so lucky to have such wonderful employees! While I am here, I should mention that I've had great experiences with this particular pharmacy, especially the pharmacist who processed my order at closing. I arrived at 630pm on a Thursday night looking to print out 2 photos, purchase a juice, and pick up my medications. I got to the front register and the older lady at the register told me to wait 30 minutes for the photo prints to be ready. She replied to me super snarky and almost belittling. The pharmacy was quick but understaffed as I waited 25 minutes just for the medication. After receiving medications, the older lady once again told me to wait another 30 minutes. After waiting another 30 minutes, I asked the lady to assist me once more. She replied "meh, you again" while rolling her eyes. This Walgreens delivers what it's supposed to deliver 80% of the time. The pharmacy and cashier lines can be long, but they move right along. Remember to tuck your hair behind your ears and do not show teeth for passport photos. People who work here don't know everything, but do their best - just don't expect 5 star treatment. It's better than most other Walgreens imho. Free parking in their lot outside is a big plus, because parking can be difficult in this area, especially on weekends! read more

I don't know why all the low ratings, but I pretty much had my best Walgreens experience ever here. To put this in context, my husband, older daughter, and I had appointments for our bivalent boosters at two different Walgreens locations in Marin on three different days and all waited over an hour. A fight almost broke out in the line while my husband waited. A trainee pharmacy tech tried to turn me away for my daughter's San Anselmo appointment because she didn't know to with the computer system and then gave me the stink eye and played with her phone while another employee helped me. Just ordeals all around. But when we came to the Irving Street Walgreens for our younger daughter's bivalent booster, which was not yet available anywhere in Marin (thanks for nothing, Marin Health and Human Services), we arrived a little early for an 11am weekend appointment and were finished by 11:04. There was no special vaccination room or area (unlike other locations), but the pharmacist was so quick I didn't even have time to distract my daughter. And this is how it's done, Marin Walgreens. For such a small location, the toy selection (dog and human) was pretty good. The tiny toy aisle was right next to the pharmacy window, so we were easily occupied during our short wait. My daughters picked out fun (and cheap) toys to get each other for Christmas. I found a dog toy that is now my dog's favorite toy ever. And we were able to park in the Walgreens parking lot. It was even free, unlike in San Rafael! Surprisingly, overall a more convenient experience than in the Marin suburbs. read more

I don't love leaving bad reviews but I've never been to a pharmacy that is so consistently slow in my life. I've been here dozens of times and the experience is always about the same. Even with just a person or two in front of me it can take 30 minutes to pick up a prescription that's ready and waiting for me. I'd recommend trying most any other pharmacy nearby if you can. They really could work on optimizing their process for getting people through or should up their staffing during core business hours. read more

I could give negative 100 stars I would. This place is AWFUL. By far WORST Walgreens pharmacy I have ever had to deal with. It is a complete nightmare, no one knows what they are doing, and you better expect to wait one hour or more to drop off your prescriptions. Give yourself 2 hours to pick up a Rx. It's a joke. Oh and you will NEVER EVER GET SOMEONE ON THE PHONE SO DONT EVEN BOTHER CALLING This is line to "drop" off....I waited 30 minutes and it didn't move. Store opens at 7 but the pharmacy opens at 8, then when it does it consistently has a long line that moves painfully slow. Prescriptions take way too long to be filled so it's an all day rigmarole just to get my prescriptions that aren't allowed to be mailed to me directly. This is one of the better Walgreens locations with easy parking but I'm so ready for this chain to be replaced or have some more convenient and sensical ways of running a business. read more

Allergies. They were acting up and we needed some kind of nasal spray.  Stat.  This Walgreens was close by, so we decided to drop by on Saturday, April 27th around 12pm. This location is a little smaller and somewhat messy, but we found what we were looking for: a generic allergy spray. Check out was relatively fast and easy. There was only one other person in line. Truly a useless Walgreens. Might as well go to a local liquor store and they'll have the same level of support and service. They don't take fedex packages like every other Walgreens in the city and nation do, they don't offer walk in flu shots, and the workers treat it like a community coffee shop-- and if you're not a friend they basically ignore you. The pharmacy here is the worst. They continually put you on hold when you call and the do not provide you with an update if there's an issue with your prescription, they just cancel it. They also swap out name brand prescriptions with their Walgreens brand without permission. Additionally, don't plan on arriving when they open because they do not open on time. read more

Placed an online order and purchased a buy 2 get 1 free. Was text my order is ready and when you arrive hit the "I'm Here" at the Photo Lab counter and someone will help you. Waited over 15 minutes with no help. Asked one of the cashier ladies is someone here at the photo to help with online pick up. She was rude and replied "I'm closed" and walked away. So I ended up getting into the purchase line that was about 8-10 people deep and waited another 10 minutes to ask for my online pick up. I looked in the bag and my get 1 free was not there and my fault but I didnt get the free one because I ordered 2 and was suppose to order 3 to get the free one? Cashier said can't give it to me and I would have to cancel the whole order and start again!! So I said I've already waited over 25 minutes so just cancel the whole order. Two days later found out cashier did not cancel the order and in fact was charged for the pick up. Had to write in to Walgreen's Customer Service to try to fix the problem? I also had used a $5 reward which I am still not credited? Went to order online at another Walgreen, and after putting in the order for 3 to get my 1 free, the Walgreen's didn't have 3 so they automatically changed it to 2. I had to cancel again... why would I purchase a Buy 2 Get 1 Free but because they don't have 3 to sell, they are going to charge me for 2, and cannot give me a free because they don't have enough? So another cancel charge I have to deal with on my credit card! I've decided I'd rather pay a few cents more and get it somewhere else! You also can't walk into a Walgreen and get the sale price because it's ONLINE ONLY! Don't care for their online ordering for pick up and the cashier's at the Irving Walgreen are rude! read more

All the usuals you can expect of a Walgreens. My 4 stars goes to the photo services! I ordered some photos online through a 3rd party and had them printed here and the service was swift and completely easy. They emailed confirmation when the pics were ready, I was served swiftly, and my pics are of great quality. The lady serving was also so lovely and smiley--I could tell even through her mask! This is my local Walgreens and it's a small one, but overall, a good one. Today, I give mad props to the Pharmacy at this location. The pharmacist was stuck all by herself and people were lining up with prescriptions for her to fill, including me! (They really should have more than one person on staff on a Saturday!) I was desperate to get my prescription filled ASAP and she said it would be a 45 minute wait! (She was also answering the phone and dealing with challenging customers as well!) I pleaded with her and she said she'll do her best. Well, 10 minutes later, my prescription was filled! She made my day and for that, she gets a gold star in my book! (She probably skipped me ahead when she saw the desperate look I had on my face!) So, thanks to the pharmacist at the Walgreens on Irving for making MY life that much easier! read more

Absolutely TINY but incredibly convenient for Late-night cravings and sweets, pharmacy items, and beauty as well. This is miles ahead of the TERRIBLE Walgreens on 25th and Noriega, meaning I'd much rather come to this one. If you live anywhere on Irving, Judah, Lincoln, or the likes of - then you probably ought to come here. The Staff are delightful & very keen to help customers. I do complain that they often don't sell biscuits for Tea, and they lack refrigerated goods, especially coffee creamer. It is incredibly well needed indeed. But this Walgreens has me covered more often than not. The staff here are lovely though, I've never had a bad interaction at this location and wot you cannot find here you can probably get at other shops in the neighbourhood. read more

HAHAHA the petite brunette lady that everyone's talking about, I didn't know people felt the same as me towards her. She seems mean & kind of pissed. Yeah, I'm not a fan of this Walgreens, but it's the closest and convenient one to me. I prefer the one on Noriega and the one on Taraval & 40th? the one closer to the beach. The one on Taraval & 40th and a parking lot that is never full, I like that and the fact that this Walgreens isn't always crowded. This Walgreens is so cramped, I can't walk through here. I'm not big, but shelves are way too close to each other, and aisles are hard to walk through. On my way home, I decided to stop by Walgreens to get some tea that's on sale. They didn't have the one I was looking for on Sunday, so I came back to check. I got the very last one. Two people were eyeing me right after I got it. The old lady asked me where I got it, I pointed right where I found it. I did it twice, she didn't believe me. I just said, "I probably got the last one," then quickly walked away. Parking around here isn't the best, even though they have a small parking lot, I just walk from home. read more

They cancel your prescription order with no explanation why, I call to see why it got canceled and I'm on hold for over an hour, when I finally get through the person on the other end has an attitude and doesn't even want to talk. This has happened three times this year. Everyone is overworked these days not just you, if you don't like your job quit! If I could give 0 stars I would to the Pharmacy Department. My husband went to pick up my prescription sent to this place, which the provider's clinic made a mistake of ordering in a different form of my med and when I realized it at home I asked the clinic to send the one I regularly use but Walgreens staff wouldn't take the exchange saying it is their policy even though I didn't open the stapled bag, still tamper sealed and all. They said it is not their fault but so am I so why should I bear the burden especially when I have informed my clinic who corrected their mistake and yet Walgreens pharmacy staff Terry claims once the med leaves their site then it is not returnable according to their policy. Nowhere does it say that on the receipt or the paper forms that came with my med. I do not see it. If it was even disclosed in their receipts or prescription literature then yeah, sure but no. It is not there. I asked for the manager but Terry says the manager is not there. I asked for the voicemail or email but she says they don't have that as well. I requested if she could leave a message for me for the manager and Terry said she (Terry) won't be there to do it the day the manager is there. I have to tell Terry why not just leave a note for the manager so the manager knows what's going on ahead of time when I follow up on this issue of undisclosed alleged no exchange no return policy on unused untampered med that was incorrectly prescribed to me. By this time, it is pretty clear that Terry suffers from total lack of customer service which I had to deal with aside from having to deal with the med issue and I have pay again just so I can take my dose because Walgreens would not accept the return/exchange of the other one. Went to pick up a prescription using Express. In the past, even though there is just one pharmacist, they let people with Express be next in line. This time, however, the pharmacist refused to do that, saying I had to stand at the end of a long line. As usual in this pharmacy, many in the line got into arguments (or so it sounded), and many were filling prescriptions for 2 or 3 others, and so each one took a long time. When I finally got my chance, spending about 30 seconds because it was Express, the pharmacist did not bother to apologize for making me wait 20 minutes. Walgreen should review their policy about Express if they are going to refuse to use the system. read more

This location is on SFist's top 5 worst Walgreens in the city -- and I can see why. It's a perfectly innocent, albeit annoying location. The employees are relatively clueless, short-staffed, and the lines move slowly. But it's also just a generic store, and it can only be so bad. It has candy, sugary drinks, and bathroom products, so great. At the same time, it's hard to believe giving them even two stars after repeatedly being turned away for medication at the pharmacy. I'm a Healthy SF member, and this Walgreens is part of that network. Yet no less than 8 times has this location told me, "Sorry, but you're not in the system," even after calling Healthy SF and my physicians, and confirming that I am in fact in the system. Today I switched my primary pharmacy, and not 5 minutes later, that company sorted out getting my medications. This is a super important issue that this Walgreens should be better about. read more

Don't come here!!!! This place if filled with rude workers and the streets are filled with trash(from homeless) and feces. This place is just a mess. I mean I don't mind that homeless people hang out but I do mind the smell and the trash on the floor. I work in retail and I know that homeless is something workers can't control but the street around the store is, and that it should be keep clean. Another thing is that they do not honor the customer is always right rule. Because I found an item at this store that did not match the price posted. And instead of thanking me for finding the item, they desired to blame the customer ( said an employee indirectly) and told me that they would not sell it to me not even with a discount or offer any discount if I bought the item that did match the price. I am glad that a cvs is moving close to this location because I know they have friendlier service and would honor or at lest try make this type of experience better. If I could I would give them a negative review but because they do have a nice pharmacist they get a star but that star is for the pharmacy. read more

It was crowded, but I do believe the long wait is due to bad staff time efficiency management , lot of room for improvement.
