I live within walking distance but after witnessing, hearing and reading about their inept interactions with customers, I would never trust the pharmacy with my health and wellness. This is not only the worst Walgreens in Montgomery county, but the worst pharmacy period. The actual drugstore is fine , it's standard but the pharmacists are insanely rude, they only ever have 1 person working the counter so it's such a slow process, and half the time you get prescriptions called in that say their ready, the pharmacists act like they've never even known about it. Most of the females at the counter are extremely invested in being part of a solution rather than adding to a problem, such as lack of supply or insurance issues resolution however they are by far the slowest store when it comes to processing and filling prescriptions, however this particular Walgreens is the one that most consistently has one of my most important medications in stock more times than not compared to other stores I have tried and more importantly they get their American made version that is quality controlled whereas most of the medication's coming from India and China are nickel and dime to the point where the medication doesn't work and when it comes to pain that you have 24 hours a day seven days a week that is the most important thing you care about, so my rating would be five stars for effort and five stars for caring about the customer, but the worker mentality for most of them there is just very low production slow handling of filling the prescriptions. I know this varies from store to store because most of the Cvs pharmacies. I've done business with our mediocre at best some of them really horrible especially to drive up window where there's one car in front of me, but it takes 45 minutes for that one person to be taken care of because the only assigned one part-time person to handle a counter and occasionally take a car however I'm currently doing business for one of my loved ones for Parkinson's Disease and other issues in Chester, Maryland, where the CVS there has sometimes interesting looking people working there with tattoos everywhere however they are lightning fast and they don't slack ever which can't be set for any other Pharmacy regardless of what chain they belong to even individual stores can't compare that just seems to be a work mentality at that one Cvs that I would rate five stars every time. On average Cvs it's getting somewhere between 1.2 -1.8 stars, this location has a 4.2 rating !!!! The people they hired at the Walgreens at River Road are great. They keep for the most part my medication in stock enough to the point that they anticipate as much as they can how much they will need to cover the demand so that's why I do business there but as far as production speed, they're a bit slow so I have to give them a three but their heart is in it, I think whoever manages the Pharmacy and is in charge tell them to relax and be laid back about filling prescriptions and at the customer will just have to wait and so we do because we have to, but rather would not, and I would love to give a five star rating because the ladies are wonderful some of them just don't move as fast as some of the others that's the problem there quality control is lacking, which is the problem in any business read more

if I could post a negative I would. I always have to call on a monthly basis to follow up on maintenance medications. And then the pharmacy is always confused. I have to spell it out for them. Then I'm on hold for 5 to 20 minutes while they fumble around and search on their computer looking at my records. It finally hit a breaking point today when I called about post surgical pain relief. I have surgery in five days and they said they still can't fulfill the post surgical pain relief. Why, I have no idea. They give me excuse upon excuse for my medication cannot be filled. It is insurance, they don't have enough, there is a conflict, they didn't get the prescription, the phone calls are never ending between this pharmacy and my physicians. I give up. I need my post surgical pain meds and they refuse to fill it. I recommend caution using Walgreens. read more

Went in for a previously scheduled vaccine appointment. i had arranged the time and vaccines a month earlier. When I arrived after waiting for 30 minutes I was told "we don't have vaccines". We are going to get them. Why didn't you go at 9:00 AM so you would have them at my appointment? I was told to come back when vaccines arrived, and I returned but no vaccines. I waited, and waited. Was told "any minute", 30 minutes later I was gone. Two hours spent due to their sheer incompetence. I live in the first world, need a pharmacy that acts like it. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. They kept assuring me they would refill a prescription and said it would be ready no later than the day I ran out. I'm there now and they say it's out of stock and there is nothing they can do and it won't be ready for three days. no acknowledgement that this means I don't have my medication for days or acceptance of blame. absolutely terrible service. read more

We were just in the Walgreens in Potomac, MD when the high winds caused a momentary loss of power. We were informed it would take 25 minutes for their systems to rebook to pick up a prescription and pay for our other items. This is 2025 and I find it hard to believe the systems are not supported by some type of UPS so that complete system reboots are not required. It also brings to mind the level of cybersecurity of those systems and how safe is our personal medical data they hold related to prescriptions and vaccines. Walgreens should conduct a top down assessment of their operations and at the very last address the UPS issue. read more

Sad to have to select one star for this chaotic, rude, ridiculous store! I need a yellow fever vaccine for a business trip. I made a reservation from the official Walgreens website, got a confirmation a week ago and got a reminder yesterday. But when I went the store today, the pharmacy said they didn't have the vaccine at all and there won't be any. They said rudely and indifferently that it was just a system error... They wasted my entire afternoon, plus my travel time is coming up and I'm not sure if the vaccination would work properly if I get the shot somewhere else days after. Pharmacy is terrible. Waited 40 minutes to get a flu shot, and never received a "sorry, we are running behind." There were 10 other people also waiting to get vaccinated and the pharmacy staff was just ignoring everyone. Lesson learned - I'll go to CVS from now on. read more

Their system is horrible and has consistently told me there insurance issues when there isn't, similar to another reviewer, which has led to multiple phone calls to my insurance company and unnecessary visits to the pharmacy. Service here is suspect. The Pharmacy is particularly difficult. It's not everyone, but it's a big enough problem to steer clear. I have been misinformed numerous times on Rx availability, Rx ability to fill, Rx refill status, Rx willingness to fill, and Insurance status resulting in unnecessary trips to this pharmacy. Once there, if there's been a hiccup for any reason, my experience is the solution starts with "No". Then the info provided is often not accurate. Misinformation can often cost money, and nearly always causes delays in treatment. I appreciate the gatekeeping responsibility pharmacists share. Other pharmacies support this responsibility discreetly with empathy, as shown by their efforts to find alternative solutions, and through education, where they help you learn to navigate the Rx system easier next time. It's not a hard position to take and it's a lot better than "No". Discretion is another thing altogether. It's required by law. In the few visits I have made to this pharmacy, I have also witnessed pharmacists undertaking extended, quasi-combative discussions with other patients about their meds, forcing them to justify the medicine their Doctor prescribed without any form of privacy or discretion as they holler over the glass partition. This leaves every customer nearby forced to overhear this discussion, wondering if the patient being questioned might be a shady person that is abusing the Rx system. Invariably, the questions lead to the patient having to share their diagnosis and treatment plan, which includes the purpose of the medication. All this is protected info being shared loudly over the plexiglass screen. Whether they realize it or not, by not acting discretion, the pharmacist is casting shade on a patient in front of all of the other patients to interpret. Hopefully when this happens to you, the patients overhearing your discussion will agree that it's an unprofessional pharmacy and can ignore or forget what they overhear. More likely, they will believe whatever the pharmacist implies or their own prejudice and view you through that lense moving forward. Buyer beware. read more

Always such a frustrating experience here! No one in the pharmacy EVER answers the phone. You can be on hold for 30 minutes, and then be disconnected. Scheduled deliveries frequently do not go out on time...or not at all. I wish there was another good option in Potomac other than Walgreen's. read more

When the clipped coupon for the contact lens solution on my MyWalgreens app wasn't coming up due to a bug in the app, Manoj dismissed my concerns and implied that it was my fault. Walgreens Corp bought out Rite Aid and turned our friendly, clean, efficient local pharmacy into another one of their dark, filthy, terrible processes and procedures stores. The first thing they did was change all of the lighting in the store to make it dark and gloomy. Then they demoralized the staff so that everyone good left and they were replaced with people who don't care about the job they do or the people they do it for. To make matters worse, during a global pandemic they have routed traffics so that sick people visiting the clinic have to mingle with people standing in the huge lines for prescriptions. They don't have sanitizer at the cash registers for customers to use before or after touching the cc console. The credit card process requires you to touch all the buttons on the machine when other retailers offer touch-less transactions. They don't clean the area between customers. All the while serving people who are potentially sick or high-risk -hence why they're getting prescriptions or seeing the clinic nurse in the first place!?! This corporation is horrible. They will ruin every good pharmacy they gobble up. I've decided to drive 4 miles to a CVS in order to avoid using this store which is a short walk from my house and where I received my prescriptions for over 12 years. PS I didn't even mention that the lines are so long because their computer system usually looses prescriptions, refills, and patients names. read more

The rude girl working the cash register is enough reason for me to never go back. Just quit if you hate your job that much. She literally told me her line was closed and then sat and chatted with her coworker while I waited. Thing is, she was the only person manning the registers THERE WAS NOBODY ELSE IN LINE. So I just sat there like an idiot until someone else came up and she decided she could work again and checked him out at the original line I had try to check out at. Then she begrudgingly came over to check my products but they didn't ring up right and she was willing to put exactly zero effort into trying to fix the problem. read more

Otherwise, it is hit and miss between utterly incompetent and mind-numbingly slow. This is the second time I experienced utter disorganization going for a vaccine at the pharmacy section at this particular Walgreens. I definitely won't give it a third try. This time I arrived a little before my scheduled appointment for the flu shot. Without fail, I experienced a repeat of a similar experience one year ago. A somewhat rude pharmacist's assistant could see that I was impaired wearing a "boot" and using a scooter due to a recent broken foot. To say I was uncomfortable was an understatement. The woman saw I was unable to stand. Yet, she made me wait at her window while she chatted with another colleague behind the counter with her. It sounded like they were having a grand old time. She finally asked me some required questions, and then informed me that I might have to wait a while because I was a bit (15 minutes) early. I saw that there were only two people ahead of me so I agreed. But then she said, others who had earlier appointments might show up before it was my turn despite their not being present as yet. I waited for approximately 20-30 minutes and was called back to the window. I was told that "the system was down" and had to repeat filling out paperwork that I had already completed online when I first made the appointment. About ten minutes later I was brought the paperwork by a lovely woman, perhaps the pharmacist. By that time there were about ten other people checking in for their shots. All in all, 45+ minutes passed. I then decided to leave for fear I might not get the correct shot given the dissaray and confusion that I saw going on. Other people seemed annoyed as well. I decided to leave without getting the shot. I then went to a CVS, and about six minutes after going to the pharmacy section there, I was vaccinated. I won't be going to that particular Potomac Walgreens for vaccinations ever again. Think thrice before you go there for a vaccination. read more

They had a survey, and if we filled it out we would get a nice gift for free (except for shipping costs). I filled out the survey, and then had to enter my credit card number to pay for the shipping costs. It declined two cards for which I entered the information accurately multiple times. This is dishonest. Apparently they want the survey data, but not to keep their promise about the gift. read more

I went back this weekend, driving by a different Walgreens just so that I could patronize this location, and had a bad interaction with the pharmacist on duty. I had a question about two different supplements I was looking to purchase. I hadn't finished shopping at all (at that point) so I didn't get into line for the people purchasing things at the pharm or dropping off/picking up prescriptions. There was another lady at the "Pharmacist Consultation" section of the pharm section so I got in line behind her to ask my question - leaving appropriate social distancing and all. Pharm immediately starts yelling at me that there is "nobody here" and "get in line" pointing to the sales/Rx. drop-off/pick up line in a very aggressive and irritated manner. It could have gone differently. There really was no excuse for his frustration and rudeness. Pull the shutters down and close the section if you don't have the staff to keep it open. It's a simple as that. Yet another place that doesn't deserve my money. Y'all do know people have other choices, right? read more

My husband has his prescription filled in this pharmacy for more than 5 years. After changed to Walgreens, his prescription profiles disappeared in the system. The pharmacist simply told us to call the doctor to prescribe again without bothering to tell us what went wrong. read more
