Not helping someone in an urgent situation while they are in pain and needing simple assistance. Not only show no compassion, but straight up racist. No wonder their reviews are so bad. They are all pricks. And if you read my comment history I give credit to good people and good places. Just yesterday left an amazing review for amazing doctor's office so I'm not the type to write angry reviews but I've never been treated this badly this quickly in my life by a pretentious person who takes a one look at people and decide whether they are worthy of help or not. I I was on my way to visit my daughter and I'd stop by my doctor's office for some lab work and continued on my trip. My doctor's office called and told me I needed to start an antibiotic being far from my regular pharmacies that don't have a branch in that area I went to Glen echo pharmacy where they not only help me maneuver the getting of prescription from my doctor's office they called and checked did everything they could to help me I couldn't be any more grateful read more

Very helpful staff and great service. I needed to get a medical product quickly and called all local cvs and Walgreens locations, nobody had it or could tell me where to find it. Had never been in the glen echo pharmacy before despite living in the area, but gave them a call, they didn't have the product in stock but offered to order it for the next morning (Christmas Eve) so I picked it up and I'm still alive to tell the tale. Amazon would have taken 3 days to get the product to me and glen echo pharmacy got it overnight, they will now be my first call. read more

My doc called in two Rx's, they filled one of them with the entirely wrong drug. I told them to wait until it was cleared up before delivering. I thought my doc's office had called in the wrong drug, but no, they confirmed they had sent in the request for the right one. When I called in the next day, they said they would now fill it, but it turns out both Rx's had been delivered to the front desk the evening before. They seem to have no idea what they are doing. Not the first problem I've had with them. I am definitely finding a new pharmacy. read more

Glen Echo Pharmacy is the complete opposite of the local DC area corporate pharmacies...in a very good way. They'e always willing to help, and sometimes - just step outside and talk with you if you have questions regarding what you're taking and why you've been prescribed it.. They've made only a couple of errors, but they always put the customer first and work with my doctor and my insurance company to fix it quickly and conveniently. You can't ask for more. The RX costs are literally the same as most corporate stores, and I can't say enough good things about the entire staff there from the evening - on. Kurt, Raffy, Ann (a real sweetheart that cares), Kiani (hope I spelled that right), and store owner Ron all make me first priority when they don't have to. Every single time. Never can say that about any other pharmacy I've been to before. Kudos to a fantastic establishment and a real bonus to the Bethesda/Cabin John area! read more

What a terrible place to do business with. They took advance of my mother, they overcharged her many, many , many times. Just found out about it recently. They also short d her on her pain meds that sent her to the hospital and when they did not deliver them the next, she wound up back in the hospital. Stay away from this place at all cost! read more

My mom needs three eye drops for her cataract surgery. First time, they did help us switch to generic brands that saved us $45. Three weeks later, when we need them again for another eye surgery. They refused to prescribe the same eye drops. They push us to buy the brand name drugs so hard. We asked to switch to the generic ones as exactly what they gave us three weeks ago. They gave us such hard time and insulted us. When I asked what generic drugs they gave to my mom three weeks ago. They even told us and the nurse in the doctor's office that they don't know. How could a pharmacist doesn't even remember what drugs they handed out to their patient three weeks ago!!!! Sorry, they lose our business for the whole family. Will never go back with a pharmacist who doesn't know what prescribed to my families. read more

In fact, Ron has personally delivered prescriptions to our home when it was difficult for my wife and I to get to the pharmacy. He's also a notary which has come in handy on several occasions. Closer to three-and-a-half stars. Basically, when you gotta go, ya gotta go. That's how I feel about this pharmacy. I really want to support this local, family-run business, but they make it hard sometimes. Getting waited on at the pharmacy takes a long time, medical privacy isn't well-tended to, and the stuff on the shelves is often much more expensive than elsewhere, even other small local shops. Ron has sometimes gone out of his way to do the right thing, like give us a few pills toward a prescription if they don't have the full amount in stock, but it often means having to make two trips instead of one. They've also delivered for free when we've had a sick child at home. I've noticed recently that something's changing for the better, because the place is looking much better organized (visually) and cleaner; I'll gladly upgrade this review another time if things improve overall. read more

Glen Echo Pharmacy works the way pharmacies are supposed to - they have a couple pharmacists that are local and they can actually talk to you, as well as your dr. if necessary. They have caught a couple mistakes, between doctors and been helpful with insurance companies. Their Rx costs are the same if you have insurance and are much friendlier than CVS. They also have a variety of things you need when you are racked up, i.e. crutches, canes, potties, etc. And of course they have the OTC stuff, which is a bit more expensive, but handy. And did I mention they will even DELIVER? Where they probably really make their money is by selling lottery tickets, as there aren't too many outlets in the area. They also have gift wrap, cards and gifty & seasonal things, newspapers, candy, etc. I much prefer going here than the chain stores and I can park, zip in and do my business. And if I want to wait for a Rx, I can go next door and pick up some super sushi at Kanpai Sushi. read more

Glen Echo Pharmacy is the difference between a family run store and a conglomerate like CVS. I changed from CVS because I was there all the time and the people working behind the counter couldn't remember my name or find my prescriptions. However, when I went in a few weeks ago (mid-corona), they were selling tiny 4 oz. bottles of hand sanitizer for over $12. Ron and the staff of Glen Echo Pharmacy have been serving this community and our family for many years. Ron goes out of his way to personalize every interaction with customers, and has stayed open many times to make sure we have gotten a prescription because the store was closing. I was a new customer and had my doctor call in a prescription. I called the pharmacy to verify that the prescription was called in and let them know I was a new customer. They said they had, indeed received my prescription and asked me all of the pertinent insurance information and said that they would call back after the prescription had been filled. After three days of no callback, I visited the pharmacy, and not only could they not locate my prescription, but my information was not in their records. So after giving them the information again, I was told they would call back when the prescription was filled. Instead, I received message that they could not locate the prescription. There was no offer to call my doctor to resend the prescription, no apology, and no explanation. This is the single worst experience I've had at a pharmacy. Avoid. read more

This is a true mom and pop store ... well let's say pop. They owner could not be more helpful. It is so worth it to go here over a chain. They work with you and your insurance if there is an issue. Yes, sometimes they do not have the item but the order it quickly. Yes, sometimes you have to wait more than an hour for your Rx but they know you. I would not go to any other drug store and they deliver too! read more

There are many pharmacies to choose from but the customer service at Glen Echo is purely exceptional. I get all my mothers medications there and they personally call me when they have questions before they fill complicated prescriptions. The owner (I think) had even personally delivered medicine when my mom needed it right away. I trust them because they are honest and always try to get the best prices. And if you need Otc stuff in a pinch they'll deliver that too. I give this place the highest recommendation due to their caring attitude toward the geriatric crowd. read more

After years of putting up with the "quirkiness" of the loud, HIPPA-ignoring owner who focuses on trying to work the system rather than actually filling your orders either 1) accurately or 2) when he says they will be ready, I have migrated to mail order refills for maintenance medicines and drive to Knowles Apothecary for urgent, new Rxes (they also deliver). Here are a few reasons for the change: for the past several months (maybe a year even), they don't even start filling your Rx until you come back to pick it up. Often, that's the first you will hear that you need a refill from the doc, or the pharm needs to order it so come back in a day or so. Watching the pharmacists go grab a smoke on the stairs is just gross and a horrible role model for the local teens. Ron will interrupt you endlessly in order to answer the phone. It can take ten minutes just to pay after you have the bag in hand (finally)! They do get a star for carrying a great selection of high-end cards and supplies for wrapping gifts. We tried hard to stick with this local, independent business, but it is just not worth the drama and time lost. Ron always apologizes but it would be so much better if he didn't need to. He means so well and cares a lot about the community, but going there is just not a healthy experience. read more

I really wanted to like this pharmacy and support a local business. I've been putting up with the slow wait times and overpriced goods because of this. However, they have given me the wrong medication on two separate occasions. One of these days there is going to be a serious problem. Additionally it takes 10 minutes to call in a refill. You get placed on hold, then a different clerk and a different clerk pick up the phone and ask the same questions all over again. It's too bad the staff at this pharmacy are rude, inefficient, and error-prone. read more

Never reviewed anything before but had to share the most deeply unsettling 2 minutes of my life. Walked in, was approached by an older gentleman with a bandaged hole in his throat who asked me what I was looking for. After repeating myself a couple times and explaining what mouthwash was, it was pretty clear that the guy was quite severely mentally unsound. I noticed the cashier signal to the pharmacist behind me, and I started to book it outta there ASAP. Meanwhile the crazy guy shouted "run! run!" after me and the cashier & pharmacists gave me a dirty look as I left as if *I* were somehow the problem here. I don't know what the hell I walked in on, but either this place employs genuinely menacing people or they just let the dangerously mentally ill run amok around the place. I'm not sure which is worse. Never thought I'd legitimately fear for my safety while buying some toothpaste, but here I am. Avoid at all costs! read more

It's Thanksgiving weekend and I've been desperately looking for a prescription that no other pharmacy in town seems to have in stock. After calling around all morning, I started to look for pharmacies other than CVS, Rite Aid, and other grocery stores where it may be more likely they have the prescription I need in stock. The pharmacist let me know over the phone that he had the prescription so off I went to Glen Echo pharmacy. When I walked in, the pharmacist was very kind and helpful and took my phone number so he could call me when the prescription was ready to be picked up - within the hour. About 40 minutes later I received a call from the pharmacist saying that he was mistaken about the prescription and that he only had it in another strength than the one my doctor had prescribed. At first I was let down, worried I would not be able to find the prescription, but then he let me know that he had already spoken with my doctor, who happened to be in the area and was able to drop off another prescription to adjust the dosage of what the pharmacy had in stock. I just received a call from the pharmacist letting me know that everything has been taken care of and that I can come pick up my prescription at my convenience. This pharmacist was so accommodating in assisting me with my needs - I was shocked that he had even called my doctor to reconcile the situation before contacting me! I would go back to this pharmacy again and would recommend it to anyone in need of a caring pharmacist who will go above and beyond the customer's expectations!! read more

Just when I thought that gone were the days where small businesses take pride in going the extra mile for their clients, Glen Echo Pharmacy proved me wrong. Countless times I've been impressed with the personal service and attention paid to my specific needs by this establishment, but the other night I was blown away when the OWNER of this business stayed PAST CLOSE (and on the Jewish Holiday no less) after a traffic accident delayed me arriving before their closing time. You just don't get this type of service anywhere else, which is why I've used this pharmacy as long as I have, despite it being a considerable distance from my home compared to local chain pharmacies. They have won me over as a client for life by going the extra mile, and for that reason, I will continue to drive the EXTRA MILES to patronize this business. I'd encourage anyone in the DC Metro area to do the same. You will not be disappointed. read more
