This location has heavy foot traffic. Due to Rite Aid closing this year on 238th. So there is always a long line at the pharmacy. Majority of the time there is only one cashier with a line to the back of the store. Try to avoid rush hour traffic times you'll be in there awhile. Staff is always understaffed and overworked and always being called in numerous directions I know it must be exhausting for them. Photo department does a great job but check your order before you leave sometimes the machine skips photos from your order. read more

I am surprised this Walgreens is still open. This location is outdated, understaffed and dirty. The only reason I came to this location is because I needed a pharmacy as a place holder. The pharmacy here has incompetent workers. It started with Jarelin- she definitely does not know what she is doing. She sought out Ashley's assistance- two people could still not get the job done. Ashley had such a bad attitude; I had to call her out on it. I spoke to the "manager" and all she said was that she was sorry for my experience. I previously used the Rite-Aid pharmacy on 242, but they're forwarding all calls and medications to this Walgreens. Perhaps the Walgreens is understaffed, but there's no reason a customer should be hung up on multiple times and on hold for more than an hour total every time they need to speak to someone. I'm not sure which pharmacy I'll ultimately use if the Rite-Aid is unavailable, but it definitely won't be this one. If I could give this pharmacy zero stats I would. It's so hard to call this place. They put you on hold for 45 min.and you never get to speak to anyone. I've been on my phone on been on hold so much that I actually go to the pharmacy while on hold. Not enough Staff!!! Walgreens needs to step up and hire more people at this location. The lines here are absurdly long daily. This pharmacy services a massive population and Walgreen Corporate needs to acknowledge how much people rely on this location as an essential service!! The Pharmacy consistently only has one register and just handful staff who have to handle way more than they should. The wait times are often 30-1 hour which is absurd especially for the disabled and elderly. Its been worse since they started boosters and vaccines. Sometimes the checkout line is out of control, and they seem to do a very hit or miss job with keeping shelves stocked - or even facing them to give the illusion that it's not picked over. I generally come in here in the afternoon to grab a drink and a snack before signing in at work. (Keep the peach sparkling water and blueberry pie snack mix stocked FFS!) If you're going for your prescription meds be aware for a very L O N G wait in a serpentine line there @ the pharmacy. There are 4 cash registers BUT only ONE cashier. Therefore, the long wait. Plus there are two female cashiers that are slow & lax to serve you, & when they do, it's with a bad attitude. I've complained to management, but all they do is nod their heads & nothing gets done. The pharmacy is always understaffed. There is always a line and it takes forever. On multiple occasions my doctor has changed my dosage of a medication and sent in a new prescription and they still fill an old one. After waiting on line for 40 minutes, I was then told that they can't fill my updated prescription that day because the pharmacist was too busy doing booster shots and flu shots. They also auto renew prescriptions even though I have that option turned off. They will then call constantly about how my medication is ready. I have insurance through my job. You'd think there would be a standard price you pay no matter where you go. For one generic drug they charged me around $24 for a 90 day supply. I switched to a closer pharmacy where I can only get 30 days at a time and they charged me $1.98! Every 90 days that's less than $6 total, Walgreens is charging 4X as much! I plan on moving the rest of my prescriptions to the independent pharmacy closer to my apartment. I would rather go every month, it still takes less time than one trip to Walgreens. read more

I was recently transferred to this pharmacy and have been out of my prescribed medication for over a week. The communication, customer service and management style at this facility has been the worst. They capitalize on the most vulnerable population. This review pertains to the Pharmaceutical Department. The pharmacy manager is Ebony Rhems. On February 3 2022 I called the pharmacy to inquire about a delay of my medication. To my astonishment I was put on hold for over 40 minutes. After they finally pickup the phone I communicated with a Rep. By the name of stafi. I asked the young lady about my status of my medication and why did it take 40 minutes to answer the call. She didn't give me a reasonable answer so I told her to have the pharmacy manager Ebony Rhems to give me a call back. I recieved the call from The pharmacy manager. I asked her what seems to be the problem at this Walgreens location that no one answers the calls. I talked to Ebony Rhems about this situation a week prior to this. The same thing happened. Her answer to me ( Ebony Rhems) goes as follow. She stated " I'm sorry that you feel that way. This was her answer. I told Pharmacy manager Ebony Rhems this is not the way to run a pharmacy people rely on their medications. This location has this problem. I had to purchase odor eliminators aerosol spray can at an utter disbelief of $6.00 plus tax. All brand name and non-brand name odor eliminators aerosol spray have annoying strong stench but, thankfully, I was able to find a light scented one. "Twenty-four hours" This place will not ever sleep,simply because this location is 24/7. This location has powered thru some of the craziest situations such has blizzards,black outs, even parades. Yet business still booms with many people from the community buying the essentials to get them they the week. "What's in here?" You can find some of the munchie classics, so I know your wondering "what munchies you speaketh?" Well munchies are those late night snacks you have when you been craving that certain item(s) that entire day. From cookies that are 88 cents to "the best dam root beer" ranging up to just 10$ you will walk away with something there! "Neighborhood love" Even the employees are really good with the community and they do make mental notes and remember your face when you come in. Since I come here a lot there are plenty of workers that always say hi or help when I need to or even ask how my day was as I'm being rung up for my purchases. I have never experienced such horrible service before encountering this Walgreens. This review is for the photo department service, but honestly I don't think I would ever step foot in here again. I'm usually a very patient and understanding person, and this place makes me want to fly off the handle I ordered a photo book on Friday night, and got an e-mail notifying me it would be ready by 2:50 am the next day. I planned on stopping in Saturday morning to pick up, so that worked for me just fine. Wanting to make sure that the book was actually ready, I called around 9:00 am on Saturday. It took me 3 calls to get an actual person on the phone, as "there was no one in the photo department, let me transfer you" was the line they kept feeding me. Finally, the woman who answered informed me "there is a book printing right now, it's probably yours, so call again in an hour". Unless I was the only person ordering a photo book, I'm not sure as to why this would be her response, but I let it slide. I called again around noon, and kept getting put on hold. At one point, I was on hold for nearly half an hour! (I was curious as to how long they would keep me on hold, so I went about my day, while waiting for someone, anyone, to pick up the phone) At this point, they were really testing my patience, so when I finally got a person on the phone, I let her know how ridiculous this entire ordeal had been. All I wanted to know was if my photo book was ready for pick up! She got an attitude, and said come at 5:00 pm it should be ready then. Eventually I did get my photo book, I had to have my sister pick it up, as I was no longer available to do so in the evening. Moral of the story folks, this is the worst customer service I have ever received, don't waste your time coming here. read more

CONS: The pharmacy is so understaffed that you feel sorry for them and for yourself. They are running around trying to fill everyone's scripts and the line goes so long that customers are frustrated by the time they get help. I have been to this Walgreens many times and it's true the lines can be long. Sometimes I go to this Walgreens to pick up photos and most of the time no one is there to help you. Then as I always do, I walk around the store until I can find someone to help me get my photos. One time I went Walgreens to pick up photos before work early in the morning and the cashier up front lied to me and said I could not pick up my photos that time of morning, 7:00 am. I think this place is open 24 hours. It has a better selection than the Duane Reade around the corner and is really convenient to Broadway, especially when coming off the 1 train. Expect really long lines during rush hour and also on weekends, but if you're nice to the pharmacy or photo people they might be able to ring you up there instead. Oh yeah, and the pharmacy sometimes has really long lines too. They have a good selection of greeting cards and toiletries. Sometimes their health items/toiletry selection is better and cheaper than at Stop & Shop down the street. Sometimes they have really cheap DVD discount bins and things of that nature. After their recent renovation/expansion (maybe 4 years ago), the store is much nicer than it used to be. They have an entire food section towards the back, they sell cereal, juices, and I think even milk. I think the "In" and "Out" doors are counter-intuitive, so watch out because you might have a collision. read more

Yesterday, I had a horrible experience at the Walgreen's Pharmacy located at West 231th Street & Broadway (10463). For the past 3 years, I have spent $1200 purchasing OTC and food products. I scheduled a Pfizer vaccine booster for 10:40 and 11:10 am for my 84 year old mother and myself. we arrived early, and I walked up to the Pharmacy counter and inquire where to register for our vaccinations as well as a seating area for my elderly mother who was using a stroller. The pharmacy clerk behind the counter said wait on line. I then asked him if I could speak to the Pharmacy Manager, and his exact reply was 'NO'. Waiting on line took me 30 minutes to get to the counter! Luckily, one of the three patients sitting down gave up his chair for my mother. The Pharmacy manager was worse than the technician, as her reply was 'go wait on line.' I hope one day that this Walgreen Pharmacy technician experience anger and disrespect if Hus mother was treated this way. read more

I've been going to another Walgreens for over 10 years with no issues ..after moving to the area and this being the closest/most convenient location ..I've tried it out. To pick up a medication be prepared to wait on line for 30 mins and even after waiting.., waiting some more because the prescription they told you would be ready in 30 mins (more than 2 hours ago), will still not be ready. Fed up. I don't know if it's because they can't handle the volume or need new staff but they need to make some changes in order to handle the amount of people that come here.
