As much a connivence store as a drug store. Prices are "ok" but not anything to crow about. Lots of items are locked up. They hold my prescription until the day I'm actually due to take it and even then I have to call them o have them fill a prescription that they've had in "delayed" status. This is the best pharmacy I've ever been to with truly helpful and friendly pharmacists. They go above and beyond to make sure you get the brand of meds that you want; they go the extra mile while the cvs pharmacists, for example, are rude and do the bare minimum. I hope no one has to deal with the guy working the photo counter that I had to deal with around 4 pm on June 10th, 2023. He got upset that I forgot to say "photo pickup" instead of just pickup. I thought it was implied since I was at the photo counter. "Well don't you think you should have said that in the first place?" I just laughed a little because I thought he was joking, but I quickly realized he was giving me attitude. The entire time I was paying, I could feel his temper getting worse and worse. I said nothing. He handed me my photo and locked eyes with me, like he was going to continue berating me. The tension was so bad that I asked him if he was okay. He asked me if I wanted to "take this outside." I told him to drop the attitude and walked away. This was completely unwarranted and made those around him, including myself, feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Judging by all the past reviews on here, this location should consider better customer service training or hiring methods. Do better, Walgreens. read more

This review is for the pharmacy only - they have twice shorted my medication. They recently were out of a medicine I take monthly - it happens. When I asked them to see if any other Walgreens in the area had it in stock they refused. I was racial profiled at this location recently. I have never experienced this at a store before (at least not to my knowledge), so I was in shock that this happen to me at this day and age, as a female minority. I happen to drop off my car at a nearby auto shop for inspections and thought walking around the area would help kill some time. I leisurely walked around the seasonal decor aisle and then noticed that every time I went to a different aisle a young African-American female associate kept walking in front of me at every aisle I went to (the amount of times she did this made it more obvious what was happening and downright obnoxious). Then I saw a middle-aged white male supervisor/manager at the end of every aisle I was in. For instance, I was looking at hand soaps to purchase to pass some time while waiting to pick up my car and he would not stop watching me until I left that particular aisle. It was very odd and uncomfortable. I was very close to confronting them politely and asking if there was a problem, but by the end I just decided to leave instead. I felt like I was being followed and I didn't know why. I don't plan on visiting this store again. It's unfortunate because it is a cleaner and larger Walgreens than most in the area. If I had the proper contact, I would report the management of this store. read more

This was my 2nd time coming to this Walgreens location within the last month and today will be the last. Like other recent reviewers I have found the staff to be very unprofessional and even just rude. In regards to the pharmacy I didn't have any major issues I wouldn't say they are super friendly but the service is better than at the front of the store. Maybe it's time this location consider hiring associates who understand that being friendly and helpful is part of the job if it's to hard for someone to do this then the customer service industry isn't for you. read more

I LOVE YOU, WALGREENS!!! For some reason, it seems as if this chain is a bit hard to find around here; they were quite plentiful back in the Midwest (understandably, as it was founded in Chicago back in 1901)! I am not a fan of its 'competitor,' as I have found numerous times that there is a lack of service, especially from their pharmacists/pharm techs. T___T I have been sick for a while, and the doc prescribed me a specific medication that seemed to not be readily in-stock - I went to two different of its competitor's location (out of convenience), and the pharmacist/pharm techs at both locations refused to assist (not sure what the purpose for their 'Pharm Consultation' window was for?!?!), answer questions, and/or put an order in (!!!). I was confused and not happy, as all the staff just kept saying over and over in how 'busy' they were (no one was waiting (!)) and them filling out a med order was just too much of a 'hassle' for them. All of a sudden, I remembered there being a Walgreens in the Del Ray neighborhood! I called, and the pharmacist picked up right away, explaining everything to me - she stated that they didn't have the specific med, but it wouldn't be a problem putting in the order that day. She told me the pharm hours, and I made my way over there. This Walgreens feels like neighborhood drug store - the place seemed to have been recently-renovated - it was so clean & sterile, bright, cheery, and well-organized. The pharmacy towards the western part of the place was in immaculate condition; the pharmacist that handled everything was just so UNBELIEVABLE. She made sure that all my questions were answered, put in the order, asked if I would like text messaging for prescription updates, and was just so professional and kind. I LOVE HER!!! I do not know why I have strayed, Walgreens, but no more! I use this Walgreens for my prescriptions but I will be switching to a different pharmacy. I went in today to buy something and was surprised to see a sign on the door only asking customers to wear masks. It did not say face masks were required to enter in any way. Wearing a mask is required in Virginia, it is not a suggestion. Once I was inside I saw two customers as well as store employees not wearing a mask. I no longer feel comfortable using this Walgreens for anything. Pharmacies are places where many sick people go. If they don't require face masks they are not doing their part to stop the spread. read more

If you'd like empathy and information from a Pharmacist-this is not the place for you. After 2 years of a pandemic, I have the utmost respect for essential workers. I know they often get the worst of people and behavior. But please Walgreens, in these stressful times, health related staff must at least have a general willingness to help people. I have never had a negative Walgreen's experience until this place! It is the pharmacist's responsibility to properly fill a medication according to the Doctor's RX. I was told that only half of my prescription was filled and the rest was voided without mine or my doctor's consent. I received absolutely no communication from the pharmacy regarding this and they made no effort to make me aware or discuss the change in my prescribed medication. When I realized I was out of refills, the tech on the phone was extremely rude and dismissive "Would you have even paid cash out of pocket if your insurance didn't cover it all??" I placed a photo printing order here and selected an option for the photos to be ready the next morning. I get no call or email confirmation the next morning. So, I called the store. The man who answered told me that he can't tell me anything about the order and that he'll call me back in a few minutes. I give him some information to look up the order. The employee calls me back a few minutes later having no idea how to identify the order. I give him additional information. He says he'll call me back again with the status of the order within five minutes. He calls back an hour later to say that it'll be 3-4 hours before the photos are ready, long after the scheduled time. I say okay, I'll wait. 4 hours pass with no communication from this Walgreens. I call back and end up speaking to the same employee, who tells me that the employee who handles the photos never showed up for work and that they won't be ready until the next day. I heard nothing the next day. Eventually I call back and end up talking to the same employee, who tells me that the photo system is undergoing "maintenance" for several hours. I ask to cancel my order, and he says I have to go online to do that myself. However, as I soon found out, there is no actual option to easily cancel an order online. I waited for fifteen minutes to talk with someone with Walgreens customer service, who then said he would transfer me to someone in Photos, but who actually hung up on me, likely by accident. I immediately proceeded to try to address the issue by online chat. However, I was informed by the CVS customer service person that "Unfortunately its to late to cancel the order". Apparently proper grammar is asking too much for a customer service employee. And, once again, it appears that the CVS employee simply lied to me when he said I could cancel the order online. Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend this store to anyone. I have no idea if the employees there are clueless, overworked, or dishonest, but they are some combination of those traits. I scheduled photos to be printed on a Monday morning, was repeatedly told they would be imminently ready for a day and a half, and ended up making six phone and engaging in an online chat without accomplishing anything. The photos aren't printed and the order can't be canceled. What a disaster. Stay far, far away from this Walgreens. read more

Do NOT go here for passport photos!!! Went on a slow Thursday night, and a well meaning but clearly untrained employee took my picture and spent 30 minutes trying to get it from the memory card to the computer, while paging managers who never came to help. After 45 minutes, I left because she and another trainee could not print out the photo. I told them I would come back and asked if it would be there and ready in a few days. Just went back Sunday, 4 days later, and it was nowhere to be found. Now a veteran cashier paged a manager for help, and, as I waited around AGAIN, fuming that I was about to pay $15 for a one inch photo that cost me much more already in lost time, I saw that he too never came! I left, and I will definitely go to CVS or anywhere else from now on. My time means something and I feel completely disrespected. Thanks, Walgreens! read more

What has happened to this pharmacy ? When this Walgreens first came to the location the pharmacy was great. Through the years it has gone down hill. Past few months I am not impressed and extremely disappointed. Prescriptions are never ready when promised, you hardly find someone in the pharmacy who is friendly, there is always a line and it's usually the same issue of the pharmacy not having medications when promised. People working behind the counter look like they are miserable and often times aren't the friendliest. Wish they would find the old staff and bring them back. read more

I never thought that I'd give a Walgreens 4 stars, but here I am... (Just as surprised as you are.) This Walgreens is about a thousand-fold improvement from the CVS right down the street. Where CVS is cramped and crowded, Walgreens is large and open. Seriously, though. It's at least double the size of the CVS and way more stocked. I can always find what I'm looking for here. (And oftentimes I find myself buying more than I need to here. It's like Target's little brother or something.) They have a well stocked food/snacks section, as well as a great cosmetics selection. If you've been to any drug store before, you'll know that these are standard prices. The employees here are really nice. However, I only ever go here at night, so I don't see many workers around. There's always only one register open and I'll be lucky to catch someone walking around the aisles. It feels like a zombie-apocalypse and I'm scrounging for supplies the farther into the store I go. The farther back I go, the less people I see and the quieter and creepier it gets. I don't like how early they close, though. I believe the closing time is 10 or 11 PM. Please step up and become 24 hours, like the CVS is! Even Giant closes later than you do sometimes! And the blinding white of this place coupled with the harsh lighting doesn't generally make for a good shopping trip. (Unless you're trying to get people in and out as quickly as possible. If that's the case, you're succeeding stupendously!) The way I've been raving about this place almost compels me to open up a Walgreens card. It's definitely my go-to quick stop store in the area. read more

Didn't let me know until I waited another 20 minutes and went up and asked. Had doctor call it in again. I thought that I had already written a review....in fact, I am shocked that I have yet to... and I believe when asked if I was the one to write a review for this location, I may have even said, yes...:/ Firstly, I am a Walgreens fanatic. It is true. But that doesn't make me biased...I gave a less than stellar review for one location :) However, I have to say that this location is one of the best ones. The staff is friendly, but not follow-you-around and ask you if you need anything over and over again friendly (thankfully). They have a great selection of products, the store is bright and clean, the pharmacy fills prescriptions quickly, and parking is a breeze. The manager of the pharmacy is probably the nicest pharmacist I have come in contact with, aside from one other at their Rt1 location. I did have one encounter at this location with a really rude pharmacist, but I am chalking it up to him having a bad day. Otherwise, I highly recommend this location. It beats CVS any day of the week. I only wish that this location (store and pharmacy) was open 24 hours a day. read more

I have been using Walgreens Pharmacy (another location) for 5 years & started using this one 3 months ago due to a recent move. They have changed my prescriptions incorrectly without authorization from my Dr or me twice. One script changed the dose of the pills. Had I not looked, I would have been taking half the dose required for a life saving medication. They refilled two other scripts stating that a Dr called them and the Dr they claim called them in was not the prescribing Dr. and was not even aware of the dose. The Dr. they claim called them actually called in a new script for me while I was sitting there. While they are polite & offer a smile, these type of errors can seriously injure someone. This Walgreens is a definite step up from the crappy CVS down the street and is a much more practical use of this space than the business that were there before. The store is large, new, and clean. It's well organized and has a lot of stuff to offer, including a more involved food and drink selection than you'd typically expect at such a store. The employees are friendly and the parking is ample. I'm very happy to have a good pharmacy option in my neighborhood. I don't miss the old stores at all. The antique stores were quaint but run down, and I only do so much shopping at antique stores (once a year, maybe) vs. weekly visits to the drugstore. The hardware store that was there was terrible - its poor selection and high prices I could forgive given that it is local, but the rudeness of the staff I could not forgive. So I spent the extra time to drive to Home Depot anyway and thus the departure of that other hardware store is good riddance as far as I am concerned. Laundromat and such were just not relevant to me. I'm happy that this corner is now worth visiting for me. The problem with this store is the neighborhood's foolish reaction to it. I heard that the sandwich store across the street (Mancini's) has banned the Walgreens employees from getting food there, which is about as small-minded and ridiculous as one could imagine. And people in Del Ray seem to think they will just vote with their wallets by not shopping at this Walgreens. The Walgreens is here, people, so you might as well live with it. You don't want Del Ray to get a reputation as a neighborhood where a reasonable business can't function because the locals are petulant children. That will not lure other businesses, and then you'll be stuck with places like that crap CVS and that crap Giant. read more
