Better still; I've repeatedly read that a local pharmacy has lower prices than the "big box" pharmacies, but I blew it off, figuring a couple bucks wasn't wort bothering with. I was shocked when I took a 'scrip for my dogs meds to this pharmacy. It cost, literally, 1/3 what I'd been paying at a big pharmacy whose name starts with "C" and ends with 'S'!!

Let me just say that I never felt so disrespected in my life. I had surgery on Friday, May 3rd…read more Long story short the medicine that my doctor prescribed to me was not working ( I was in extreme pain). I spoke with my doctor and he sent a different prescription. The Pharmacy that my doctor sent my prescription to did not have it. I called around and found "Accokeek Drug and Health Care Inc". I asked my doctor to send the prescription to them. I did not realized that they were closed Sunday. On Monday morning (May 6th) my father called to check the status on my prescription (NOTE: He was going to pick it up for me because I can't drive due to my surgery). The pharmacist said I would have to wait until May 9th for him to fill the prescription. I called my health insurance company because I thought that may have been the issue. The insurance company called the pharmacy and patch me in with the pharmacist. The pharmacist (I believe his name was Mark or Mike) said he was not comfortable filling my prescription because he noticed that I had a prescription filled on Friday. I advised him that I did and the medicine was not working; that's why the doctor prescribed something else. He then asked "where is that medicine at" and I told him I have it here with me at home. The pharmacist said in order to fill the new prescription. I will need to bring him my old prescription (the medicine) NOTE: I did not purchase this prescription from this pharmacy. I was puzzled. I felt as though he was trying to say I'm addicted or misusing my prescription. I have NEVER use drugs. I have never felt so insulted and disrespected my entire life. Luckily my doctor was able to send it to a reliable pharmacy. It is very dangerous when the pharmacist wants to play doctor. I will never send my prescriptions or refer this pharmacy to anyone! If you're looking for a reliable pharmacy check out "My Express Care Pharmacy". They are extremely helpful and professional.

I decided to try this pharmacy since it's in the Giant where I regularly shop. Big mistake…read more I dropped off a prescription that was super-simple to fill - epinephrine. I asked for it to be filled with Auvi-Q (a brand of epinephrine) since I had a coupon for it. THE NEXT DAY, the pharmacist calls me in the morning and tells me that she won't fill it with Auvi-Q because the prescription says epinephrine and not Auvi-Q. She said she would call the doctor and ask for the prescription to be rewritten. I came in that night to pick up my prescription. I was told that I had to wait because "the pharmacist is praying". Praying? For some reason, I expect the pharmacist to be IN THE PHARMACY and WORKING during business hours, not praying to the sky monster. When she was done praying and ready to deal with customers, the pharmacist said the doctor didn't respond and so she didn't fill the prescription. I asked why exactly they can't fill it and she said the doctor (my allergist) wrote it wrong. I informed her that the prescription was a pre-printed form for epinephrine and my allergist certainly knows how to write prescriptions for it. I asked if it's a problem with my insurance and she said it's not the insurance, she just personally doesn't BELIEVE in filling the prescription the way it was written. I pointed out that doctors almost always write a prescription for the active ingredient in the drug and not by brand name, but she refused to admit she was wrong. I called another pharmacy and explained what the Giant pharmacist said and asked if they would fill it as written. They laughed at me and said OF COURSE they would fill it! I came in the next day and talked to the pharmacy manager and asked for them to give me back the prescription paper so I could take it to another pharmacy. She told me that there's absolutely nothing wrong with the way the prescription is written and there's no reason it couldn't have been filled two days ago when I originally dropped it off. I said sorry, I don't have a lot of patience for pharmacists who like to jerk their customers around and took my prescription to the other pharmacy.

I needed to purchase some Magnesium but I wasn't sure the actual type of Magnesium. I really didn't know that there were specific types. So I did a little bit of research and came back about an hour later. The same friendly pharmacist was still there. She gave me advice about the Magnesium Citrate and how this can help my digestive tract. She also advised me about potential complications which was very helpful. I have been using this pharmacy for many years and never had a single issue. Then I met the pharmacist Mandicia. Safeway switched their policy on the text notifications where you can no longer see which medications are being filled. Very frustrating when you take nine medications! All I want is to be able to pick up my medicine once or twice (I get it's difficult with that many meds) a month. I went to pick up my medication and noticed that one was missing. I inquired and was told it would not be ready for several days and that didn't make any sense to me. I went home and the bottle clearly had the same date as the others, so I called to get some clarification. From the gate Mandicia was rude. Beyond rude. She wouldn't let me get a word in, had a very nasty attitude and refused to believe me. I understand that the medication is a controlled substance (an anxiety med I've been taking for about 15 years), but there is no reason why I should've been spoken to like I was "drug seeking". All I wanted was clarification. I waited three more days until the text notification said it was ready. Unfortunately, Mandicia was there and not Mavis. Immediately she started with the same exact attitude. Same medication- different issue this time. Once again she wouldn't let me talk, and she refused to answer my question. I was so frustrated that I asked for her name- I couldn't see her name tag. She refused to even tell me what her name was! She comes out of her booth and starts talking to the customer waiting in line behind me while I'm still standing there trying to pay. Mind you- this entire transaction was only two minutes, so it wasn't like I was taking up a bunch of her time. I'm at my wits end! There's no way I should've been spoken to that once let alone twice. I get people have bad days, but leave the attitude at home. I get it's a controlled substance, but not everyone is trying to pull a fast one. In fact- I was trying to get less pills so my medication will now be all ready on the same day. Now I'm torn between supporting Mavis and avoiding Mandicia like the plague.
