I don't usually have a positive enough…read moreexperience with a pharmacy to actually be driven to write a review, but this one stood out to me. I had been looking to get Novavax for the newest version of the COVID vaccine and after calling numerous CVS locations near me, I found out from the automated phone system message that this CVS carried it. However, to be on the safe side, I called and left a voicemail (it takes a lot of time navigating the phone tree to get to that option and I could not find a way to have it connect me directly on the phone to the pharmacist). For my first voicemail, the pharmacist called back to let me know it wasn't in stock yet and they didn't know exactly when it'd arrive and that the automated system isn't always accurate. I decided to book a vaccine appointment further out and then called back again the day before my appointment to double check, and fortunately they did have Novavax in stock and the pharmacist told me to make sure that when I check in at the pharmacy counter, I ask to have Novavax specifically, or else by default they would use Pfizer. The pharmacist was also quite timely and generally called me back within an hour of me leaving a voicemail each time. When I got there 30 mins early for my appointment, the wait was short (it was a weekday afternoon) for the vaccine check-in line. I was pleasantly surprised that the pharmacist remembered me when I checked in and recalled that I had talked to them over the phone and that I wanted Novavax. No inappropriate questioning about whether/how I was immunocompromised which I've encountered at other CVS locations in the east bay. They had at least 4 chairs in the waiting area and I didn't find it too noisy or overstimulating, which is what I typically encounter at local CVS and Walgreens pharmacies that are high traffic. It was very quick and I just had to wait no more than 5 minutes to get my actual vaccination, which happened in one of the little cubicles/booths (has an open ceiling) that they have for vaccinations. A different pharmacist was the one who administered my vaccine but they were efficient and let me know I just needed to wait at the pharmacy for 15 minutes in case of adverse side effects and then I was free to go. Both the pharmacists I interacted with were wearing surgical masks which I appreciate given the current COVID surge. It was a very smooth experience getting vaccination here and I appreciate how the pharmacist was courteous and timely in returning my calls and remembered who I was since I imagine they talk to many different people. It was a good enough experience that I'd seriously consider coming here for any further vaccinations even though this isn't the closest CVS to where I live.

I ordered a refill on the walgreens web site and the next day I found a cryptic message next to my order asking me to call the pharmacy at 510-864-2800. This story is not an exception, but closer to the rule. Overworked personnel, poor customer service, lack of investment in a modern infrastructure is the safe path to bankruptcy. I had a problem with the pharmacy I was trading with several years ago, and spoke with a pharmacist at Walgreen's about moving my Rx's to them; i was assured I'd not have a problem with a couple of my Rx's. Two days later, man were there problems. Needing my medicine, I stopped in here. I was treated like a Prince! I've never looked back. Phillip and Maryellen are some of the best people you'll ever have the privilege of working with. The folks on the Hardware side of the business are also friendly, knowledgeable and just nice people. Oh, did I mention that both of these businesses are independents? They are. As the son of a pharmacist and drug store owner, I truly appreciate not having to spend my money with a big corporation establishment, and just being a number. You know the corporations that took down most every small drugstore in towns across the country in the span of about 10 years? The same way Agent Orange did the same damned thing with all of the independent hardware store. If I could, I'd give Versailles Pharmacy a hundred stars. Now, this is how you treat customers! Since that time (a couple of years), I have been impressed by the helpfulness of staff, the efficiency of refilling prescriptions, and the pleasant surroundings. I have not used the delivery service, but it is a comfort knowing that it's available. One thing to particularly note: I have one expensive prescription for a not entirely common drug. Rite Aid would routinely be delayed in getting it even though I had been going there for years. Sometimes the delay was a week. High Street, small and independent though it is, has never had a problem giving me prompt refills. I really appreciate that! The one thing I wish was that there was an automatic notice that refills are ready. That was something I appreciated about Rite Aid - maybe the only thing!

At this location you can also get your meds, even the hard to find ones as for whatever reason this location tends to have them. Aside from that, however, this location is not very good in general. Parking is almost always a nightmare. As it shares the same parking lot with farmer Joe's and another business at the end of the lot it's incredibly hard to find parking that's close to the front of the store when it's busy. Staff can also be rough. I think it typically depends on the mood or if they had to deal with rowdy customers, but more often than not you're going to run into someone that's ready to fight back in a verbal argument. The wait times to get your medication are also very overwhelming at times. In spite of this, I will give the CVS Pharmacy a 3/5. The reason I'm giving this a 3/5 is that I get it. I used to work in the area years back. I would occasionally end up coming to the store. I don't blame the staff entirely and the location itself can't be blamed for the parking situation.

She didn't know if they had any. I asked if I could speak with someone who stocks the shelves, and she told me to go ask the pharmacist! The staff are rude and clearly don't want to be there--they act annoyed when you ask for help and often ignore customers while standing around on their phones. Even worse, I don't feel safe shopping here. There's little to no security, and I've had uncomfortable run-ins with creepy men hanging around inside and outside the store. It's unsettling, especially when I'm alone. For a neighborhood pharmacy, that's completely unacceptable. The store is also poorly stocked. They're constantly out of basic items, and the selection is way worse than other Rite Aid locations. Even the ice cream--something Rite Aid used to be known for--is a letdown. The brand they carry now is grainy, has a weird texture, and literally feels like sand in your mouth. It's gross. This place needs a complete overhaul--better staff, better safety, and better products. Until then, I'll be going anywhere else.
