Took my daughter and sister here for lunch today. The food was great and the location perfect for any train lover. We ate outside on the picnic benches and my daughter loved playing with the new wooden kids train. We stayed for 30 minutes, but could have lasted another half hour if it wasn't nap time! Lunch was an excellent deal! $19 for a BLT, Crispy chicken salad, kids meal and two drinks. We will be back in the summer to try the ice cream!

This is a great little shop right by the waldwick train station. Who doesn't love homemade ice cream...trick question...everyone does. Tye Waldwick Whistle Stop is the only NJ shop that carries Nelsons ice cream made in Pennsylvania Dutch country. They have both hard and soft serve and both are delicious. I had the espresso explosion, creamy, delectable, and had tons of chocolate covered espresso beans in it. You can really taste the love, and feel it to because the owners are very friendly. I will be back since they change flavors every week.

The great reviews led us to stop by. Needed to satisfy a craving for hot dogs. We did chili dogs all around. Dogs are larger than your typical hot dog. Very difficult and very messy to eat. Buns simply fell apart. Left half on the plate. Oh well, the hot dog search continues. read more

I had a really great experience at this outdoor café. They hosted a nursery school end of year lunch and could NOT have been more adorable! The owners took our order in advance via email and when we arrived with 14 four year olds, they were all ready for us! The meals were reasonably priced and came with ice cream and a whistle! They also had meals for moms, and were able to accommodate my request for no cheese. The employees here treated the class like gold. Highly recommend!!! read more

Great local ice cream parlor, but it is so much more. They have sandwiches, soups, breakfasts and more. All done with quality food with a great price. They recently introduced hot dogs to their menu and they are delicious. In an area of the county with multiple other ice cream parlors, this one is my go-to one. And the kicker to make it a 5 star review is the ambience. Love the trains and decor. Keep up the great work. read more

They don't serve kids cones. Yes kids will drop cones but come on. Bizarre policy. The loop hole is obvious which makes the policy just super strange. Also styrofoam containers are not great and ice cream is mediocre. Better customer service would like the mediocre ice cream seem better (pro tip from life long ice cream fan). read more

Went there today with some friends and had a horrible experience. We wanted to get some hot food and the employee at the front had to call the owner to come in and cook the food. The owner came in and was all pissed off that she was woken up from her nap and had to cook. She cooked our food and then didn't give it to us and ran out of there. The employee gave us our food and it was still cold and undercooked. Don't go to this place. read more

If I could rate this establishment a zero I would. The ownership is rude and arrogant to in town customers. Read the reviews before or (instead) of going. Its a great spot geographically it's a shame that this location is an example of terrible service. read more

Had a sandwich with egg, cheese, bacon, sausage, tater tots, it was enormous! Tasted great, very filling, and only about $7. Girl at counter was nice and made it fresh. I would visit again and recommend over Fast good any day read more

This is a great little spot near the railroad tracks. Has a nice play area for kids, and a great spot to watch the trains go by. MY kid loved trains last year, so we stopped here a lot. The ice-cream is pretty great, and the food is good to. Would recommend stopping by if you have kids. read more

4 stars, "I'm a fan." It's the corner soda shop and ice cream bar growing up that I never had. This family friendly train themed establishment is run by the friendliest ladies Tammy and Theresa. They got the heart beat of the town. Internet provider WiFi is available should you be an Optimum Customer, but why would you need it with toy trains and other kid friendly knick knacks adorning the place. And you guessed it, not only is it train themed, but it's located across the street from the Waldwick passenger train station. Now let's talk food. Burgers made to order and mother approved, quite literally. The Whistle Stop is one of the school lunch providers of the Waldwick public school system. The ice cream comes straight from Pennsylvania and beats most area ice cream places in quality. You want mom's meatloaf to go? It's offered every so often as a boxed meal. I might not have had the opportunity to grow up with a wholesome caring establishment like this, but I shall be rest assured that my son will here at The Whistle Stop. read more

Nice little place serving ice cream. Lots of flavors and good service from the staff, this is very popular with local families popping in for a treat. I took a group with me and we were served quickly and with a smile. Ice cream is tasty, with the usual choices of cup or different cones, depending on your preference. Apparently the coffee is good too, although I didn't try it. Just give them a call first if you are heading there later in the evening - closing time can vary. read more

Found this place in Yelp when we were in the area. It is a quaint place with very friendly owners. They take the time to have actual conversation with their customers not just small talk. They took great care of my wife in preparation of her eggs. I had the engineer on a hero which was excellent. We even had some homemade ice cream after breakfast. It was outstanding. The owner took time to show my wife the list of allergens for each of the ice cream flavors. Overall a great experience and we would definitely stop by again if we are in the area. read more

This place satisfied a deep itch for some good ice cream - satisfaction lasted for a few days too. Randomly found this place on Yelp and what an awesome treat. I tried 2 flavors, one was some type of coffee flavor with coffee beans in it and one had peanut butter cups I believe - double chocolate I want to say. Definitely worth the stop! read more

Very friendly staff that remembers you- you feel like family walking in- not only is the ice cream the best but they have weekly specials in food that are great for on the run with 3 kids and numerous activities during the week- makes it very convenient! RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Dined from 5:45 - 7:15 PM on a Friday and most of the evening crowd was older and there weren't many families with kids. There were maybe 2-3 families with kids, but they left by 6:15 PM. Most of the groups were groups of 4, seemingly catching up during a nice meal. CONCLUSION -------------------- = I was pleasantly surprised by the experience we had here. I figured this would be a super casual Friday after work/school dinner with the fam, but this turned out to be one of the best meals we've had in North Jersey in a while. Food, service and ambiance here was excellent. Wish they had .5 stars on Yelp because Saddle River Cafe is as close to perfection as it can get at 4.5 stars!

And the points expire at some point if you don't use them for awhile. Sunday is a good day to go to avoid crowds since the retail stores were closed. Parking is usually a pain on Saturdays. The Plaza also has a tj maxx, shop rite, cvs, old navy, orange theory, dsw, five below, Michael's, deli, etc.

The guy gave me an extra plain so it was a total of 4. I also ordered a 16 oz. Coffee (their house brew) it came out to $6.25. Not bad. Ifor some reason 2 bagels had grill marks on them, I'm assuming they were placed on a rack while still hot and it left marks on it. Strange. It wasn't about the bagels for me but the coffee was really good! Rivals the well known commercial coffee houses. The bagels were on the sweet side; they were big and crusty but the sweetness turned me off. After trying out Bagel Nosh, I would only return for the coffee not the bagels. The long line is not worth it; but maybe the sandwiches are good? Maybe I'll come back and try something else. But as far as bagels, I'd go somewhere else. This is my honest review.

(In August 21, 2021 I didn't provide sufficient notice for a 9/5/21 party and on 9/20/23 I was trying to get an order for the following Saturday but someone called out sick so they were unable to fulfill the order). I guess the third time is a charm, because on 9/22/23 i ordered and paid so I was finally was able to pick up a dozen up the morning of 10/28/23 and they came out cute! (They open at 10am Saturdays). I had asked for champagne bottles and didn't specify a color and normally wouldn't have picked pink but they worked out great. See the pics attached. The storefront is actually super cute and they have many beautiful cookies for purchase inside...I was going to get more but they were mostly $7+ each and I didn't want to break the bank as they are only good for 2 weeks so if I had extra I was afraid they would get wasted and there wasn't any in the store that would really fit my tailgate theme. The place is located in the grey concrete building (located on the corner of Harrison) and connected in the same building as the chicken wings place. Got a parking spot right in front by the apartments and was able to run inside quickly. They have a cute little casual outdoor patio set right in front which would be great for a cookie/coffee/tea date! The reason for taking off a star is because of the price as it was a little higher then I was expecting and I was expecting some sparkly bubbles around the champs like I saw these the first time...which had more of a white/gold/silver color scheme. I can only imagine the costs to have a storefront and employees so totally understandable about the pricing. This is an adorable charming little spot conveniently located right near the train station. It reminds me of a place you would walk to, which then can allow you to justify the calories of eating ice cream. They have actual food but we've only come here for the ice cream and coffees, all of which we really enjoyed. I am a strong supporter of small, local businesses and this place is just adorable. They best part of getting ice cream here is sitting outside in at their benches and Thomas the Tank seating for the kiddos. It's a great time. read more
