A must stop for me when I'm on the Northwest side of Winston-Salem. I just can't get over their hand-dipped onion rings with the horseradish sauce, and those bourbon glazed and garlic romano wings with "the good ranch." Waldo's is just a great place to go whether you are looking to dine-in and watch a game on one of the many easy to view TVs, or if you're just looking for a quick lunch with an excellent lunch special. I like bone-in drummies the best, and can always count on a portion of thick ones here. There isn't really a bad sauce, but those two I mentioned earlier are standouts for me. They also have an excellent hot dog! Lots of toppings, good meaty chili, bigger than the bun for sure. Also, the appetizer menu here, don't miss out! If it's fried goodness you are seeking, this is the spot. Can't wait for my next meal!
I popped in here specifically to try the Polish Sausage, something that I really like and it is not all that readily available! I had visied the spot once before to try their wings, and they are excellent! The Polish Sausage came with grilled sauerkraut and deli mustard, as well as 3, yeap 3, onion rings and a small wedge of pickle! The cost was $7.25. This was a good sausage, nice flavor, made even better by the sharp tasting kraut and deli mustard. I would certainly try this item again!
I so wish I lived closer to Waldo's although it might be a bit dangerous. We grabbed some wings on the way home the other week and per usual they were delicious. I do love all of their apps as well.
I visited here at 4:14pm on a Saturday with a friend and my sons. We had to wait to be seated but there was no host. We had a short wait before being seated. The waitress came around 4:17 and took drink order. We ordered at 4:22pm. One of my sons got PB&J sandwich and fries and the other got cheeseburger and fries. I got 6 bone in wings combo with sweet thai chili and fries. My friend got a burger and fries. I also ordered mozzarella sticks for an appetizer. My friend and I ordered sweet tea for our beverage. When I told waitress I was with Yelp, her energy changed. She became friendlier and even introduced herself (which she didn't do initially). Her name was Mary. My friend noticed the energy change and mentioned it. I was thinking so in my head, but my thoughts were confirmed after that. (Disclaimer: As part of the Yelp Elite Squad, I got my bone in wings combo for free. However, I paid for the appetizers, the kids meals, and my friend's meal). There were many TVs for sports. I'm not a sports fan but my friend enjoys football and was able o watch the Raven's game. The mozzarella sticks came at 4:33pm. They were tasty and we enjoyed them. I then ordered pretzels sticks with nacho cheese sauce at this time. At 4:46pm, we inquired about the sweet teas we ordered and were told by our waitress that they were coming. She also informed us that they are short two cooks. Honestly, we were wondering what that had to do with receiving our sweet teas. The pretzel sticks came at 4:49pm. They were hot, fresh, and delicious. The cheese on the other hand, was not very tasty. Our food came at 5pm by a different employee. I asked her about the our sweet teas (that we ordered over 30 minutes prior). 1-2 minutes later, our waitress brought the sweet teas. We were confused as to what took so long to get the sweet teas. We all enjoyed our food. We didn't get many fries , however. All in all, I would return. They have a wing special ($.79) on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Apparently this is the place to go in Winston for wings! I put it up there with Ronni's. Everything about this establishment screams good wings served here! Great service, good sauces, great serving sizes and a huge variety of many other bar foods. Loved the homey feel and laid back vibe. Most definitely enjoyed my extra hot boneless wings and waffle fries. Legit nothing wrong with this type of food . Comfort food and hearty and satisfying. Definitely put this on your list for take out or go to. Safe to say it's a Winston staple!
Waldo's is the typical environment you expect with wings. Tons of tvs and tons of sports memorabilia. I opted for the 6 piece wing combo with potato wedges. The wedges were well seasoned and I found the honey chipotle sauce to be delicious with just the right amount of spice. The boneless wings were crisp and I found them to be good. We also tried the onion rings which were homemade and fantastic. They come with house made ranch and that combination was next level delicious. As far as service, our waiter was quick to get our order but after that seemed somewhat apathetic. He delivered our meal but then it seemed like he never really checked back in and it seemed like the only reason he came back was because he had to seat another customer and had to leave from talking to his colleagues. Overall, the food was great but the service was just ok which lost them 1 star.
My family came in this past weekend for lunch. We had five people, and Marco was our waiter. There was no football on being the weekend before the Super Bowl, and lunch was primarily middle-aged folks. It wasn't super busy. The layout is pretty standard, but it's clean and there is plenty of room. We had: Plain Cheeseburger with fries Chicken and Waffle Buffalo Chicken sandwich and onion rings Burger salad Chicken fingers and fries Here is the run-down. Everything is made in-house. Waldos waffle fries are really good. Waldo's chicken is really good, hot, fresh, and tasty. The onion rings are really good. *delish* The burgers are pretty good. The burger salad was alright. The chicken and waffle was okay. The salad was mine. It was decent, kind of a burger topped with a nice cheese and no bun... on a salad. Not a bad way to get some meat and veg, but the veg portion of the salad was pretty basic. My son was trying chicken and waffles for his first time, and didn't seem too thrilled. I tasted it and it was fine. The chicken is Waldo's chicken, so it has the right stuff. The waffle texture and flavor were a little 'meh' and that could be for any number of reasons. The service was excellent! Waldo's has great chicken. Come try it out. Buh-CAWk!
I had such a good experience here. The wings were delicious, bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked (I got the bourbon glazed ones with onion rings, so good). The atmosphere was so warm and cozy, making it the perfect place to unwind, also if you're a sports fan this might be a place for you too. The service was absolutely amazing! The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly, making us feel right at home.
I was very excited to try Waldo's Wings for the first time and I'm very glad I did because I found my new favorite polish dog. I was greeted by the friendliest staff members who remained very friendly and attentive throughout the entire experience. They have a large dining area where you can be seated by the waiter up front or head to the back to place a takeout order. The restaurant itself reminds me of a sports bar. I initially came for the yelp elite event to try the Wings that were free due to the event, but I seen many other items that caught my eye. So I also ordered the polish dog, waffle fries, hot chips, and the appetizer tray which came with Broccoli Cheese Puffs, Battered Buttons, Zucchini Slices & Onion Rings served with choice of 2 dippin' sauces. The Polish Dog was the star of the show for me because of the sauerkraut and the hot chips were nice and crispy as the perfect addition. I ordered the garlic Romano sauce which did not disappoint. The wings were good but I would've loved them even more if I asked for extra crispy. (Personal Preference) Lastly, my favorite thing on the sampler was the mozzarella sticks so next time I come back, I will be ordering a whole appetizer of those.
This is one of our favorite wing-craving-relief spots! If you crave wings, just go to Waldo's! This time we added some Onion Rings AND Pretzel Sticks! Be sure to enjoy the hot cheese sauce with the Pretzel Sticks! Don't be shy about getting a big scoop of cheese with each bite! This is expected! And Waldo's is a judge-free dipping zone! I brought my kids here recently to try and make them "wing people". They ordered the tenders/fries and hot dog/fries kids meals (both loved what they ordered), while I tried the 6-piece boneless meal with fries. Though I wanted to try one of the flavors (honey gold?), I ordered mild so my kids would like them. Alas, they won't be wing fans...at least not for now. I enjoyed the meal, though the fries were a little overcooked and boneless "wings" aren't really my thing (I much prefer the real deal). The ranch was amazing though! I love how there are TVs all over the place and it's a great place to check out a game. The service was quick and though part of our order was wrong, it was corrected quickly. While I may not be much a fan of their boneless wings, this is still my favorite wing place in Winston.
We were invited here a while back and really liked it. Eager to return we made it back tonight. We love the wings here. They are a bit crispy and have a great texture when you bite into them. Others places can be on the slimy side. Not here. Our favorite is the medium buffalo flavor. We also like the onion rings and the chef salad. The service is attentive. The beer selection is nice with specials on Saturday night. Great place for wings.
I love coming to this place because it's so close to home and it's great to catch sporting events, especially at this moment during March madness. The place is a perfect set up with TVs all over and boots and tables with views from any angle. The staff is always friendly and efficient. Today we got mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. They were perfectly seasoned not too much coating and hot melting cheese with an OK marinara sauce. My wife got the sesame ginger Wings, which are not spicy more on the sweeter side. The wings are a bigger size and the flavor was good. She got it with a side of cheesy bread, which was not at all pleasing or even look good. It was just a thick Texas toast with melted cheese in the middle. There was no flavored to it very bland. I got the Polish sausage with sauerkraut and mustard. The sausage was cut down the middle, which makes it better to hold the sauerkraut and it was grilled to perfection and the bread also appeared to be grilled, which is the way I like it. You get a choice of side like waffle fries but since I am watching what I'm eating, I got a side of carrots and celery. I would have loved some ranch or Blue cheese for the side, but that was not provided overall I love this place and will continue to visit.

Waldo's Wings are great! A true sports bar vibe delivers good bar food. Our server wasn't the friendliest but it might have been caused by the need to find a good beer. If you prefer a craft beer instead of the average domestic corporate beers, you might be disappointed. Only one IPA available was the local not so favorite. All good though - the wings and waffle fries made up for it. read more
Waldo's Wings is a Winston-Salem classic for me. The wings are always fresh and delicious, and my mom swears by getting hers extra crispy. Their "hot chips" with nacho cheese are some of the best around town, and the homemade ranch is unbelievable. I've never had a bad experience here. I have driven past this place for years and was excited about the opportunity to try Waldo's Wings. The restaurant is located on a strip mall beside CiCi's pizza and behind the Cookout off Reynolda Rd. When you enter in, it gives the feel of a cozy sports bar. The place is covered with TVs so you can watch the game from any seat in the house. The staff was pleasant and friendly, even on a busy Saturday afternoon. Now the food... My wife and I ordered the 6 piece special, I had bone-in honey chipotle (more heat than sweet) while my wife had bone-in bourbon glaze. We both had the waffle fries which are crisp and made to order. In addition I had the BBQ chicken flatbread. The bread is amazing! I came for the wings, but I left wanting more of the flatbread. You can tell it is not old frozen bread, but fresh (similar to naan), and actually built to handle the many toppings. I enjoyed the atmosphere, the staff, and the food. I love this place. Everything I would want if it wasn't so far away. I hate posting anything negative, but it's the food that reduced my 5 stars to 4. I was with a friend and we ordered same thing except she added some fried zucchini. We each agreed that zucchini was too greasy. Wings were tough without a nice flavor. Waffle fries were good. Seemingly fun sports bar. We went kind of early Saturday afternoon so we missed the crowd. We were promptly greeted and seated & our server arrived quickly to our table to take our beverage orders. She checked back often enough to ensure we were taken care of. Good food and good service! read more
I am going to give an updated review about the Reuben, yes people I know this is a wing place, but if you have a sandwich make it good. The first time we came in the Reuben was great, this time not so much with the meat very chewy. I am going to be coming back so on the next we will see if things improve. read more
Today was the day that we got the opportunity to visit Waldo's. We learned a few months ago that Waldo's is owned by the same people as Mama Zoe's and Cin Cin. Since we are big fans of both we knew we wanted to check them out. We arrived about 5pm on Saturday afternoon and while they were moderately busy we were seated by the hostess right away. She provided us menus which we immediately started looking through. The place has a sports bar type theme with lots Nascar related items as well as other sports. There is no bar but they serve a variety of beer. We knew before we arrived that they offer both bone-in and boneless wings as well as burgers, salads and appetizers. We saw other yelp recommendations about the waffle fries so we knew we needed to try them. Our server, Mary G. stopped in and took our drink orders. When she brought our drinks she asked if we were ready to order. My wife started by ordering the waffle fries and told Mary that she was super hungry and asked that they be brought out before our meals. Mary instantly said, "I got you". My wife also ordered the six wing special with the dry rub, carrots and ranch dressing. I decided on the Southern Comfort burger with onion rings. Our waffle fries arrived shortly after and we were impressed with the portion size, definitely enough for 2-4 people. They were cooked perfectly and were so yummy with the ranch dressing. Our entrees arrived shortly afterwards and also looked awesome. My burger was piled high and the onion rings were gigantic! My wife really enjoyed her dry rub wings as well and appreciates the ability to order carrots only versus celery with her wings. My burger was delicious and messy with the nacho cheese & BBQ sauce dripping out all over. We also ordered a side of their gold rush sauce and really enjoyed it. We also noticed you can order various sizes of the dipping sauces which we thought was a nice touch. Overall, this was a great experience and we will absolutely be back! read more

Waldo's Wings is a hidden gem of Winston-Salem. They were one of the first wings restaurants to open in this city back in 1991 and are still going strong even now! As a chicken connoisseur, I'm always on the lookout for the best wings in town, especially wings establishments with great deals. I can confidently say I've found the place. First of all, let's talk about their daily specials. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, wings are only $0.79! That's unheard of in this economy when they normally go for more than $1. Additionally, they have a unique special like this every single day! For example, on Thursdays, pitchers of Bud Light and Miller Lite are only $10! Can you find a better deal in Winston-Salem?? Secondly, their wings are perfect. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and there's so many different flavors to choose from. I opted for their Thai Chili sauce, which was honestly the right move. I bet you that all of their sauces taste this good. You can choose various numbers of wings as well, which include 10 wings, 15 wings, and so on. There's also an option for a 6-piece special. Lastly, their menu consists of food items other than wings, including flatbread pizzas, burgers, delicious appetizers, and more! These should be more than enough reasons for you to check them out soon! I made my visit on a late Wednesday night, and I was surprised to see the number of customers here. If you love wings this is the place for you. Also if you're not In the mood they have a variety of other delicious menu items. I got the chicken salad sandwich that was delicious . The chicken salad here is the classic with just onions celery and Mayo (none of that weird stuff). The waitress Lorie recommended it and she was spot on ! Also she was very attentive and helpful. The onion rings here are the biggest I've ever seen. Very delicious. I love the decor and the feel of this place as well. Kinda sports bar ish but also very Americana style. I came here last night with my family. Its in the same shopping center as Harris Teeter and Mama Zoe. Very inviting clean restaurant when you walk in. It has big TVs showing sports as you would expect. They also have good cold beer and they offer good pitcher deals worth checking out. Now for the food, my husband ordered a Reuben and said it was probably one of the better rueben sandwiches he's had out here so far. My son ordered jerk wings and loved them. Me...weeelllllll...I'm not a wing person so I usually get a flatbread at these wing restaurants. I ordered the BBQ chicken flatbread and it was, meh. The flatbread itself was super soft and the chicken didn't have too much flavor. I like my flatbread on the crisp side. We had Alicia serve us and she was great and delightful. Thanks Alicia!!! Yummy wings. I really liked their sauces. Definitely wouldn't mind getting wings there again. The sides were a bit disappointing though: you only get like four waffle fries in a side, and the cheese bread cost an extra two and half bucks and was just a floppy piece of bread with a tiny bit of cheese melted on it. The service was great. Our waiter was back to refill our water several times. Very polite and friendly. I also liked that this place wasn't as loud as other wing places like Buffalo Wild Wings, but still has that sportsy vibe. They also had a lot more variation in what to watch. Tennis, Gilligan's island, and the dog show all going in the same place. :D read more

This was my first time trying them, and to me, they were actually pretty good. I went with the sweet chili thai, and to me it was bomb they were thick and crunchy at the same time, the ranch dip was good,the wedges were fresh and thick, Perfect with the ranch dip. They do have other options like hot dogs. Burgers, sandwiches, salads, i havent tried those, so cant really judge how they would tastes, but i know if you are craving wings then this would be a great place to come get them, they do have different sides like onions rings, wedges, homemade chips, I'll definitely try them out again. read more

How have we never been here before?! We had an errand to run on that side of town and decided to try out Waldo's for a late lunch. The service started a bit weird, but improved throughout our visit. We ordered chicken bites with the bourbon glaze for our appetizer, I definitely needed the house salad in the taco shell, AND I ordered boneless wings plus homemade chips. The goal was to have leftovers. It was all delicious!! It's a sports bar environment that's low key and casual. We will definitely return. read more

If you are looking for good wings, this place is it! We're from New York and have been looking to find a spot that has wings at an affordable price, lots of flavor and with the perfect crisp and this is that place! The atmosphere is sports bar-ish but more homey (if that makes any sense haha). Staff was so welcoming and informative. We ended up going with the 6 piece special which comes with a side and a dip. There are a ton of flavors to choose from and we got the honey chipotle which was SO good. The blue cheese dressing was one of the best I've had! The slaw was good, but reminded me more of a deli slaw than a bbq place slaw (I know this isn't a bbq place but that was the kid of flavor I was expecting), still good though! We also split the Pittsburg burger which was awesome. I'm not normally a mustard fan and the gold sauce was definitely a little mustardy BUT paired with the flavor of the burger plus the cheese and slaw I actually really liked it. We got the wedges with our burger and the waffle fries with the kids grilled cheese and both were good but those waffle fries were my favorite of the two potato sides. Lemon pepper wings with waffle fries were hot, fresh, and delicious! Sampler tray (appetizers) offered variety of appetizers. I liked the mozzarella sticks, zucchini slices and broccoli cheese puffs. The service was top notch with very friendly and hospitable staff and server. The bar wing spot atmosphere had an energetic welcoming vibe. I enjoyed the food and the hospitality. read more

Just a quick reminder for you - Waldo's Wings has the BEST waffle fries. They are crispy, they are big, they are soft on the inside, they are seasoned perfectly. And they have the *good ranch* and don't you forget it. read more
