My first breakfast in Kaua'i! I came here for brunch with my group of 3 where we split three dishes from the menu. Service was accommodating and attentive while we navigated the menu; they offered recommendation as well which we really appreciated it. To drink, I ordered the cold brew with mac milk. It was refreshing! Not too creamy if that's not your style. Also not too sweet - which I really liked. Friend ordered the banana bread which was good but not stand-out. To eat, we split a garlic shrimp plate, breakfast burrito, and churro French toast. The garlic shrimp was my pick and it was seasoned well. Some parts of the shrimp were a little too mushy but overall good. The best thing on that plate was the mac salad! The breakfast burrito was good but even better with the salsa provided. The star was truly the churro French toast - which is less of a French toast and more like a fried donut? Nonetheless, the sauce/cream it came with was divine and paired amazing with the cinnamon-y crispiness of the bread. Delicious spot to grab breakfast! This spot gets pretty busy and seating is limited. My husband and I got the full order of the churro french toast and the garlic shrimp with rice and mac salad. Garlic shrimps were nicely seasoned and tasty. Churro french toast was so good! Portions are very generous and we were so full at the end of our meal. Really glad I stopped here for food! It has parking in the back and is more of a to-go style spot but there are a few seats on the patio and a few barstools outside. Service was on point and they prepared the food pretty fast! I ordered the coconut sweet chilli shrimp which was so delicious! It comes with rice and a side so the portions are pretty big. My bf got some kind of sweet chili chicken too and the portions for that were huge! Came back on the last day for a breakfast sandwich and it was super tasty. June 2023 Cute little spot. Seating can be limited. We were lucky to grab the bar counter table on the patio. My partner got the kalua burrito and a passion orange guava juice. I got the veg. The kalua burrito was good and rich, though a bit heavy for her at the time. We took part of it to go for later. The veg was good, had a lot of different textures to it. I liked the taro patty which provided a nice crunch against everything. The flavor really came through as well. They had a nice spicy sauce on the counter to use also. That juice tho was really good and fresh. A really nice pick me up with the meal to cut through things. Was a nice spot to sit tho a lot of little birds will come to visit you. We got to see some of the helicopters traversing the mountains which we were going to do the next day also. read more

This is one of the few breakfast options in Hanalei, and one that we had on our list to try. Very busy upon arrival in the morning, seats inside all filled up. Luckily we were just second in line, so we placed our order, got a pager and went and found outdoor seating. It took a while to get our food, about 30 minutes or so, but not the worst considering the crowds. I ordered the Kalua Burrito (a whopping $19), my wife got the basic b, and we got a half order of the churro french toast to split. Unfortunately, the breakfast was a bit disappointing. -The Kalua burrito is good, but not $19 good. Good amount of meat but in desperate need of a salsa or some sort of spice to break up the monotony. The chipotle aioli doesn't have much flavor and is more of just a light cream throughout. The size leaves a bit to be desired as well. -The Basic B was fine, and I mean, it's called the basic b. So can't expect too much. Pile of plain tots with some grilled spam and eggs. Can't complain, but nothing to compliment either. -The churro French toast is really the standout here, and honestly the only thing I'd consider worth the visit. Good crispy crunch on it and lovely dusting of cinnamon and sugar. If you want a sweet breakfast, coming here for just the French toast would be a good choice. Other than that, I'd recommend other breakfast options for both better local flavor and more bang for your buck. read more

Came on a Sunday morning and they only had drip coffee and cold brew coffee options, no decaf options either. We opted for a Fuzzy, a black coffee, and a ham sammy. This is a laid back coffee shop with friendly staff, and they were super quick with getting our coffee and food out, but both coffees tasted like diner coffee and were just okay. I was visiting and I heard so many good things about the garlic shrimp I had to try. OMG! I usually dont like to eat whole shrimp but this was so worth it. The coffee is pretty sugary/flavored and not very strong (no espresso shots here), so if you're a coffee purist this may not be the place for you. The food and views are great, though, and price is decent for how much food you get. We had plenty of leftovers for lunch/second breakfast. Unfortunately there isn't a ton of seating here, with 3 small tables on the front balcony, one small bar inside, and one small a bar outside. Altogether they can seat about 15 people inside and outside, though there are also some picnic tables by the road. Be prepared to take your food to go if needed! The French toast is like none other I've ever had. I always forget to take pictures because I'm always so excited & in such a hurry to jump right in and eat. Make sure you call to check the hours before going! They close early around 12 or 1 pm. My wife and I came here for breakfast one morning and, in our opinion, this place is highly UNDERRATED!! The food was absurdly delicious and massively portioned! We went with the Kalua Pork breakfast burrito and the Churro French Toast, and both breakfast items delivered! The breakfast burrito was stuffed with tender and flavorful pork. But it also maintained a proper egg ratio (some breakfast burritos can be overstuffed with eggs in my opinion), and the tater tots added a perfect crunch. The burrito was delicious on its own, but I would highly recommend adding their house made guava hot sauce for a nice touch The Churro French Toast was insanely delicious. We had no idea how massive the portions were, or we would've definitely gone with the half-order for the two of us. The French toast was so tasty - a deep-fried goodness combo of sweet and crunchy. But what took it to the next level was the cold cream and syrup they served right in the middle of the whole dish. Seriously - it was to die for! The combination of the hot French toast with the cool cream made it taste like heaven on earth! It definitely makes up for the churro French toast, which was waaaay too sweet for me. It's perfectly crunchy outside and soft inside, tastes almost like a donut. So if they toned down the sugar level by 50% and/or swap out the syrup for a sour sauce, then it'd be perfect. Value: The food sizes are HUGE! I stopped by here earlier today for my morning coffee. Wake up Coffee happened to be the only coffee shop open in Hanalei at 7 AM and so we headed on over. It's located in a strip mall off the main road with some parking. We ended up going to the coffee window and so there isn't much to say about it other than it had their menu on one side and you walked up and placed your order. For my coffee on this morning I decided to go with a large latte. After about a 5 minute wait, I had my coffee and we were on our way. The latte here ended up being quite good as the coffee was smooth and rich and it had a nice ratio of espresso to milk. The bottom line for me is that I would stop back here again in the future. I liked that they were open at 7 AM and thought the coffee was nice as well. read more

Came here every morning we were in Kauai because it was that good. The garlic shrimp are to die for (and the seaweed salad is an awesome side). The full order of french toast are MASSIVE and enough to 2-3 meals, but they were hands down the best french toast I have ever had. The kahlua pork burrito was packed to the masses with tots, egg, veggies, and pork and was so filling and yummy. They are not a massive shop and only offer outdoor seating (3 tables next to their restaurant and 3 round tables with umbrellas outside) and they do get super busy after 7:30am, so be an early bird! I will also say I was not super impressed by the coffee. I got the milky way which was very sweet and good, but their cold brew is not great. Would absolutely recommend for the food! read more

Meat was juicy and tender, sauce was on point, tater tots add that essential crunch element to the experience. Bug portion too. The bagel sando is very average, nothing to write home about. Their cold brew REALLY SUCKS. It's terrible black and it's even worse with milk - taste exactly like cough med. GROSS. UNDRINKABLE. Isn't it ironic that a coffee bar can't make a semi decent coffee? Best French toast I've ever had! It completely exceeded my expectations (which were quite high considering some of the reviews I read on here) and I was not disappointed! Crunchy on the outside with the softness of a perfect Cinnabon roll on the inside, the texture contrast was awesome. The whipped cream wasn't just some stuff out of a can, it was soft and thick, almost like some kind of whipped gelato (I like love to know how they do that). And the flavor- cinnamon and sugar with caramel- the best flavor and sugar bomb you could hope for! (Let it be notes, this IS dessert for breakfast, so I highly recommend getting some protein to go with it so you don't pass out from sugar overload). Also got the kalua burrito, which was huge and flavorful. The fuzzy nut was tasty, but I recommend enjoying it once your taste buds have calmed down from the French toast. We didn't order much because we got food from another venue but the Churro French Toast was solid and while sweet it was well balanced. Coffee was just what I needed for our early morning adventures. Service: very friendly and I was able to get a key to the restroom while we waited for our order (they have posted directions to get to the restroom and it was also very clean (both the bathroom and the restaurant). Ambiance: I'd say it's pretty laid back and like most places on the island in tourist popular places.
