Hanalei Bread Company will be the reason why I waste my retirement savings and my children's college fund for a 1/6 ownership in a condo I can't afford. Surely they can't do bread AND great coffee. Bury me in property taxes too. The macchiato (there's only one kind) was perfectly creamy, strong, and served in a perfectly sized 3 oz cup. Don't leave the island without coming here. Parking was easy, there is a parking lot directly behind the shop. When we arrived there was no line, just a group making a purchase. There was no menu posted on the wall or anything... the only available menus were located at the register where this group was, which I thought was odd for a coffee/beverage spot. So we had to wait til they were done to even see the menu options. As much I wanted to love this place, the coffee was a miss for me... I got the iced coconut dulce de leche iced latte. My drink tasted mostly like milk & not much coffee, caramel, or coconut flavor. However, others in my group tried coffees and smoothies and they were content. There's also a small grocery store attached to it, like whole foods or down to earth store. Different and unique products but cost seemed very high. There was a locally made candy bar for $21 lol. The bread was light with the perfect amount of crunch on the outside. There was also a good amount of cinnamon sugar, but the best part was definitely the whipped cream. It was definitely on the sweet side, so I definitely recommend ordering something savory with it. I am so glad I got to try this place and will be a must visit on my future trips to Kauai.
