Came through on a Sunday afternoon. Place was mobbed, but the line moved quickly and our food was up in a reasonable amount of time. So - what you do is take a look at the menu, figure out what youre having, then get in line & place your order. There is a $10 credit card minimum, but thats pretty easy to hit. They give you a coin with your order number written on the back. You then wait by the pick up window for them to call your number - and thats that. If youre not around when they call your name, they will use the PA to call it out. There is a condiment bar next to the pick up window. Decent amount of seating scattered throughout the property, but like I said its a busy place. We wound up sharing out table with two older gentlemen about half way through our meal. What we ordered: Vanilla Milkshake - Very good, clean vanilla and dairy flavor. Not too sweet. It was, dare I say, too thick. Even with two straws, we had to wait 10 minutes or so before we could actually drink it. Id definitely get this again. Cheeseburger - Totally unremarkable. Like an average backyard bbq burger. LTO - bready bun - bitter char. Unseasoned. We would not get another burger here. Wahoos Special Marinade Chicken Sandwich - Exactly the same thoughts as the burger - completely unremarkable. LTO, bready bun, boring grilled breast (no discernible marinade or brine), unseasoned. Only thing worth mentioning is that the chicken was not dry. We would not order another chicken sandwich here. Large Hand Cut French Fries - These fries were amazing. Maybe the best I've had in VT. I was shocked how good they were. Perfectly fried, crispy, potatoey, seasoned with salt and pepper (its possible she put the seasoning on it at the condiment bar). I would come back just for the fries. Id drive 30 minutes just for the fries. Any time I go to Shaws, its going to be hard to not swing by for an order. Worth noting - the guys who we shared our table with also had a order of large fries - which were about twice as large as ours were - we also noticed some other people with much bigger portions of fries. Bummer for us...I could eat them all day TL;DR - Come for the hand cut fries and the milkshakes. Skip the burgers and chicken sandwiches. read more

Stopped here for ice cream. Ordered a large chocolate hard ice cream in a waffle cone. Paid over $7.00 for it. Received 2 very small scoops that barely protruded past the top of the cone. This would be considered a small at most other places. Not worth the money. Next time I'll wait till I get to Brattleboro to receive a proper portion. read more

So after a 3 hour drive I was told that if I needed a satisfying and quick lunch to stop at the bottom of the hill..... you'll know it by the line... And there it was picnic tables, cars in lot...people waiting in line. Must be the place. So my young traveler and I stopped in for what would be a delightful time. Our order was taken quickly, grilled cheese and bacon sandwich and a grilled dog. Okay not the best diet, so we skipped the fries and chips. We had waters and fresh fruit cups for dessert. Let's start with the grilled cheese ... have to believe the bread was homemade, thick slices perfectly grilled to a golden crisp, melted cheese that oozed out and more bacon than any sandwich really needed. A perfect lunch for a young or older traveler. The grilled hot dog was okay... it was only lukewarm.. and a bit salty. So I was a bit disappointed since this was my first hot dog In years. So will I stop in on my next visit to Wilmington yes in deed... from all the other reviews I'll try a burger. So sitting at picnic table with the sun on your face, silly conversation with a child.. what could be better. read more

My wife and I stopped here for a quick lunch after a long drive to VT. Great picnic area near a small stream with plenty of out door seating. Food is excellent and great quality. My wife had a burger and I had the marinated chicken wrap that was great. Both of us shared an order of beer battered onion rings. They were awesome! Chicken nuggets didn't taste like chicken (it obviously was not real chicken, it was like that chemical-made chicken like McDonald's has) and was absolutely shocked to see that they were hollow. The music choices they had at that place were horrible. While I was ordering I noticed two jars with something above it say, "Who tips better? Boys or Girls?" I knew that they were just trying to get people to tip, but that idea was very sexist and unnecessary. The pond nearby was a nice sight, though. Would not reccomend. read more

Not impressed. Yes its a roadside stand, but we have come to expect better things from even foodtrucks so why should a roadside be any different? The hamburgers were tasteless waited forever to get it too. Fries were good as were the sweet potato fries. The ice cream was bland too. Bet your bottom dollar i wont be back. read more

Excellent fries and ice coffee, I was happy as a man lost in S Vermont. So glad I checked it out on Yelp, a mile down the road. We stopped here after visiting the flea market. We were 3rd in line to order, and it was a solid 20 minutes of standing in line before we could order. The place was quite busy, and after ordering, we waited another 20 minutes for a seat to open, as it's outdoor seating only, and limited space. It was about 10 minutes later that our food was ready to pick up at the window. My milkshake had been ready for half an hour, and was left sitting at the pickup window until melted. There were 3 people with dogs, eating at the tables. There were several others with small children, who ran amok, screaming, yelling, and throwing things at each other, at cars, at patrons, etc. Our food was not correct, as one had tomatoes who had asked for none. Another had onions, and had asked for none. The food quality was "Meh". Also, I made it about 20 minutes before needing a restroom after eating here. This place may be better at other times, but for me, it was not a good experience. read more

Super-casual roadside stand. Had the portobello mushroom chicken wrap with a Gluten-Free Wrap. This one had a little too much balsamic vinegar for me but was still very tasty. The family really liked their crispy chicken and chicken caesar wraps. Sweet potato fries were good too. Ice cream afterwards was delicious! Soft-serve small was pretty big and had nice flavor. I love Wahoos! Nothing says summer to me and my family then going to Wahoos for dinner, which we do quite often since we live close by. The food is good and affordable and it's a great place to bring kids because it is outside and they can run around while waiting and not worry about spilling and messes. I highly recommend the wraps, particularly the portabella and chicken one and the steak one. The kids meals are a good bargain. We love to finish off a meal with an ice cream cone and a walk down to the stream. read more

The food at Wahoo's is good. The burgers have a nice char on them and the fries are great. It's a casual setting next to the river and a good place to come at the end of the day for a quick meal. The place is recovering after having been trashed when T.S. Irene devastated a lot of the surrounding area in 2011. But here's the downer - the bathrooms and garbage areas were absolutely filthy on the day that we were there. It was concerning that employees were using those facilities and then preparing food. There were signs up apologizing for the state of the rest rooms. Rather than apologize how about have someone tackle the place with a mop? We've visited Wahoo's every time we've been up to Wilmington but I'm not too sure we'll be back again. read more

I've been coming to Wahoo's ever since I was a little girl, and with each passing year both the icecream and food menus have become more intricate and delicious. You would think that such a small restaurant would struggle to impress locals and out of staters alike year after year, but I have yet to be disappointed. The staff are always ridiculously nice, and even though they are typically relatively young (high school age) they are all able to act in a composed and friendly manner. Add in the fact that the only seating available are charming painted picnic tables scattered amongst large rocks for sitting and the family atmosphere becomes unparalleled. I would highly recommend stopping in for a bacon bleu burger (my favorite classic) and some deer tracks ice cream next time you're driving along Route 9. read more

Very basic fast road food catering to the many tourists. No locals eat here. We had a garden salad with rotten green peppers and mushrooms. Took it back for a refund and they gave our money back, to their credit. If you are starving and in a hurry, beware but you probably won't die eating the food. (Salmon burger + bacon burger + 2 kids hotdogs + large fries = $40). The setting is very nice hence the extra star. Otherwise there's nothing special about the food and would look elsewhere to take the family. Maybe stop here for ice cream afterwards, though it's a $10 minimum for credit cards. read more

I'm a fan of Wahoo's. They've become a Wilmington institution with teriffic food and strong contributions to the community. But last season's cooks were better. On Memorial Day our burger was overcooked and the portabella wrap was ho-hum. read more

I had a very awesome experience visiting Wahoo's Eatery back in July of 2011. The food that they prepared for me was very delectable. If you have not stopped to eat, please do. The staff at Wahoo's Eatery takes pride in serving up a great meal for you. It is well worth the wait too. I wish I didn't even have to give this place one star because they do NOT deserve it. Best place in vt for soft serve???? REALLY???? Long lines for food, ice cream and bathrooms, slow service, not many comfy places to sit properly and eat, and the RUDEST woman I have ever met that works there. She parks her black truck behind Wahoo's. My father wasn't feeling well and of course the bathrooms had a long line. He was trying to be inconspicuous in that he thought he might throw up. We walked behind Wahoo's and my father needed to steady himself. He did so with his elbow, on the only thing near us, the liner of the raspy black truck. A woman came out and approached us and said "that's my truck". I said I'm sorry but my dad needed a place to steady himself he's not feeling well. She waved her arm at the rocks on the lawn and I said I'm sorry that won't do, we are just standing here, can we not stand here on the grass? She said "actually I'd rather you didn't stand near my truck". At this point, having not even inquired as to whether anything is okay, she said something to the effect of getting my father a chair, but not nicely, in fact, she was quite short with us through the whole thing, and I finally got sick of it and told her that my father is sick and needed to take a breather and that she was very VERY rude for approaching us the way she did, with no concern for anything but her crappy truck. I told her we would not be back at which point she yelled, directly into my ear "HAVE A NICE DAY", and got my middle finger right between her eyes. I do not abide being treated like garbage, especially when we came all the way to have their "best in vt soft serve". YEAH RIGHT. I will never EVER be back. read more
