Where you can wait to partake of goodness

Hostess advised there was a half hour wait, we said no problem. 5 minutes later, called me to say there was room! We sat at a table right in the middle. We could see how busy they were on a Friday night! Ordered a pulled pork sandwich and hubby got the hot dog with brisket chili sauce. It took a while, but I could see them working hard. The hostess not only greeted people, but also brought food to the table. The waitress was also running around making sure everyone had their drinks and took their orders. At one point, lost my napkin and she quickly picked it up and brought me a whole bunch more. When the food came out, you knew it was special. My pulled pork was melt-in-your mouth Good! The coleslaw tasted homemade and the bun was delicious too. My husband's hot dog was very good and tasty, he said. He was very happy. We made room for dessert. Shared a key lime pie which also was delicious. Overall, this place was a winner. Great staff and great food. Can't get better than that.

We were in town for a ski trip and found this place on Google. Tried walking in around 8 PM but there were no seats. Funny enough, there was an empty table, but they didn't have enough chairs for the four of us--they only keep exactly the number of chairs for each table, not a single extra one, so they couldn't seat us. The restaurant is pretty new with a clean, modern design. Compared to most of the older, more worn-out spots in the area, this place feels fresh and brand new. When we finally got seated, they were out of their famous brisket--super disappointing since that's what we came for. We all ended up getting pulled pork instead, which turned out to be really good. Each table gets a basket of BBQ sauces, and they were all solid. My favorites were the house sauce and the North Carolina one--both went perfectly with the pork. For appetizers, we got the shrimp cocktail. It was grilled, but served cold--tasted like it had been frozen before. Oddly enough, the smoky charcoal flavor with that cold texture worked surprisingly well. We also tried the French onion soup. It was flavorful but way too salty for my taste. Overall, a good spot in the area for a solid meal.

This place definitely hit the spot. My husband and I had an early dinner. Cozy and clean place. Andrew was our server and was really friendly. Drinks were good, I had a moscow mule and my husband had a stella. For appetizer, we ordered the street corn dip. Wow this was very tasty, I couldn't stop eating it. We shared the brisket tray and added pulled pork, it's served with cornbread, pickles, coleslaw & a choice of hand cut fries or smoked gouda mac & cheese. Food was so delicious and cooked to perfection. The hand cut fries were nice and crispy. There were also 8 different sauces, our favorite was the Alabama white sauce and my husband also enjoyed the house bbq sauce. The s'mores were out of this world. Definitely make room for dessert. We look forward to coming back to try everything else. This place will definitely be on my list every time I visit Vermont.

Decent and abundant bbq in the mt snow area. They easily accommodated our table of 6 and we all had a blast trying the different sauces. Could see this being a good spot for takeout given how small the interior is, especially if you're on a group trip like we were

Best BBQ we've ever had! Absolutely incredible spot. Service was too notch and food was out of this world.

Hubby and I stopped by one day after snowboarding at Mt Snow. Not a big place but they served up some delicious barbecue! We order the Brisket Chili, Smoked Wings, and Brisket & Ribs Platter. Tender and flavorful meat, everything was exceed our expectation! It's definitely a joint we would revisit on our next ski trip up here.

As I waited in line I enjoyed conversations with both the people in front and behind me whom all have never been before. The joy and excitement on their faces as they made their way to order was priceless. As for myself, a small mac to help start the new year strong for total lbs sold (81k in 2024) and a small pulled pork. Wanted to order some other things but my refrigerator is full at home, so another time. If this will be your first time, just be aware of parking could be very busy as there's not much. Both ways before pull out of parking spaces as well. Main road can be a cluster at times. I also recommend getting lots of little things rather than a little of a lot. I ordered: - Macaroni and cheese ($4.29 per 1/2 lb) made with Vermont's Cabot cheddar cheese - very creamy, cheesy, and had a perfect texture. - Maple BBQ Pulled Pork ($5.99 per 1/2 lb) - very juicy and moist - Turkey Sandwich - had this the next day and it was still tasty. Not dry at all. All were very flavorful and delicious! Highly recommend visiting ~ I can't wait to be back :)

The Ceasar salad was the best I have ever eaten, and I consider myself a Ceasar salad snob, a CC conesuier if you will. The fresh peas delicately mixed with the pork lardons and crushed romano crotons were sheer bliss. I will never forget this salad as it now rules as my gold standard. We wanted to hug the chef. Everything tasted like it was scratch made with love using fresh seasonal ingredients; this includes the pork dumplings which you must try during your lifetime!! I could drink that sauce. I usually take pictures of the food but it was devoured in what seemed like seconds. Staff was super friendly and very good at their jobs. When you are looking for the place remember that it is tucked away, bordering on hidden, so look up directions because Waze won't bring you right in front of the place. Great for lunch. Indoor and outdoor seating. Order at the counter and choose a table. Very efficient system. Can't wait to return for the burgers (Vermonters call them 'meat pattys') with fried green tomatoes! Kudos. Worst experience in Bennington! Do not patron if you enjoy…read moreany level of hospitality & actual value. I came in cheerful & this guy ruined the day... I ended up leaving angry and literally cried.... Their online ordering has a Reuben with an option for $2 extra meat & a note box so I cld have written there asking for the extra portion on the side. EASY. Yet, I went in person to see what the specials were hoping for a great lunch, because Im here for medical procedures at the hospital and had fasted since the day before. Id never been to The Elm Street Market before, but it was close to the hospital, & love Vermont markets for all the years I have lived here. But THIS place :: T E R R I B L E mistake! The employee at the counter was as fake & uncaring as it gets, & shld definitely not be the customer guy. He would not just let the added side be $2 , but wanted to weigh it out & charge me for a deli style $6 sliced side in a package as an addition to the $14 sandwich. ($20 Reuben?!) I said I didn't need or expect a package of sliced cold meat, that I was just adding the side portion to share with my pups. For Lunch. He just becomes patronizing, dense, & fully lacking capacity or willingness to help and says he "can't bc it just doesn't work that way" unless I get it on the sandwich. I cld order it online but not with him at register. And for some reason he cant figure out a $2 portion of meat. Surreal Incompetence. The next level of downhill not-so-fun is seeing the tiny soup. A cup of soup for $8. A latte "special" that I cld not even taste the smoked maple flavor and was only 3/4 full. It's actually shocking- what happened to actually CARING about just helping ppl have a good experience if you are working in the restaurant business as a small local independent market? Hey Elm Street Market Fella, you cld do the simplest things like not try ripping ppl off & being kind! His patronizing attitude & lack of capacity really took it over the top- how am I supposed to enjoy this $36 ordeal? Supposedly he is refunding the meat, bc I explained I didn't order a package of meat. He took it out of bag & literally said "take your sandwich & drink & go". I was upset~ I said this is truly unacceptable ~ try some Kindness & Authenticity! And left. The other young lady who was working that day & witnessed this whole debacle seemed to feel bad making 'Im So Sorry' faces. She at least offered me a dollop of maple syrup & noted the drink was not filled~ but also was being oppressed by his attitude. I cld tell he was being an overbearing tyrant. Wtf - this is NOT Vermont as it should be DUDE. All it took was putting a few slices on the side for $2 & filling up a drink. Ridiculous.

They were Featured Each Week At That Time At The Wilmington Inn For Their "Wicked Wednesday" Events & They Always Got Rave Reviews. Each Week Mr Ruble Would Change Up The Menu With New & Delicious surprises with flavors and tastes from all Around the globe. And each Time I Went, The Food Was perfection. It wasn't long before Brandon Ruble Was The Talk Of The Town and Over the last two years or so, he went on to purchase a food truck for "Nomad Chefs" & Everybody Loves It. And Not long ago, I heard he had a brand new Food Truck & Started A Whole New Brand Called "The Smokehouse". They are currently at the River Valley Market & I'd been dying to go but kept missing it for one reason or the other, but last week I got there at just the right time. I even Got A Chance To Meet Brandon Ruble himself & He Was Just As Sweet As He Is Talented. It's easy to see how hard he works & How Well. A true master at what he does. A seasoned professional. Dan Took my order and he was awesome. Funny, sweet & Very Accommodating. His sweet tea was out of this world & Some of the best I've ever had. I Ordered the Brisket with Sides Of Coleslaw, Baked Beans & Homemade Cornbread. I Was Hesitant to order the brisket as my recent experiences doing so at other establishments didn't turn out so well. It takes a special touch to get brisket just right and not over or under cooked. Usually people miss the mark one way or the other. But The minute I opened my to-go box, I knew this wouldn't be the same. You could literally see how juicy it was & The meat was so tender it was almost falling apart In Your Mouth. To say that it was perfection would be an understatement. And the Flavor? Sooooo delectable. Rich & Full Bodied. Just perfect. Holy smokes was that delicious ( No Pun Intended). This was hands down The best brisket I've Ever had in all my life and I'm no spring chicken. Theres such a huge difference in the taste when its made by someone who is a true artist. Someone who puts thought, and time into all of the dishes that he adds to his menu. Someone like Brandon Ruble. I would highly recommend this food cart 100%. It Is Without A Doubt, The Best & Most Delicious Meal You'll Find & even The Fairest Price. Not Only Will You Love It, You Will Leave Full And Happy & You'll want to come back & So will your whole family. As You Eat Or Wait For Your To-Go Order, You'll Smell The Two Extra Large Smokers Going The Whole Time. The menu has something For Everyone, including Chicken Wings, Burgers, Fries & Even Hush Puppies. The main attraction though is the smoked platter. You choose your meat , IE Brisket, Pork Etc & pick two side dishes. No matter what you pick it'll be delicious. You will be very happy. I guarantee it. I went back a few days later with a friend of mine who's usually the hardest critic and doesn't like to to try new things. He sticks with the places he knows and goes there habitually. But even he went crazy over "The Smokehouse". His quote exactly was "This Is Better Than Any Place In Town". And THAT is the hugest statement of all in a place like vermont where there's delicious food everywhere. I highly recommend "The Smokehouse" Food Cart, In Addition to The "Nomad Chef's" Food Cart & Or Anything Else Brandon Ruble Puts his hands on. This man is absolutely gifted. The meal that I Had At "The Smokehouse" is only one of the many incredible creations that we've all come to know & expect from Mr Ruble When He Puts His name on Something.
