What amazing culinary experience in the mountain. The food is absolutely top-notch - every single detail details is handled to perfection. This is like Manhattan top restaurant standard. Such a great find in the middle of the mountains! The restaurant itself has a vibe of modern farm house, kind of a mixture of old and new. The food itself is truly impressive. We had citrus salad, broccoli salad, mushroom soup, and pan roasted half duck breast for main dish. Everything is cooked to perfection! We had read the great reviews and decided to give it a try. So glad we did!! We got there at 5 o'clock which was good timing. By the time we left the restaurant was full! We were greeted with a warm welcome from the hostess and waitress. The ambiance is cozy rustic feel with beautiful chandeliers. I love the big fireplace! Now let's get to the food! Was able to walk in without a reservation. The VT cheese pate was delish! My son had the Duck appetizer and citrus/burrata salad, I had the sirloin and all was wonderful and perfectly cooked. Our server was a little awkward but she loosened up over time, maybe nervous? This was a very cozy place, good atmosphere. This place is a very solid five star restaurant, excelling in ambiance, service, food and value. This restaurant is in the Farmer's Road Estate Inn . This confused us because it's not on "Farmer's Road" which does not exist. It's actually on Cross Town Rd. Trust Google maps on this one. Once we figured that out, we had a fantastic experience. The restaurant has a view of with outdoor dining, but we opted to sit in their spacious dining room with a good view of outside. The service was casual, but efficient -- well done. As good as the service and ambiance is, the food is the star of the show. It's obvious they have a very well-trained, experienced chef with an appealing menu. Ever the seafood addict, I had the large portion of Moules Frites (Mussels) ($21): PEI Mussels, Andouille Sausage, Hard Cider and Mustard Crème, Cajun Aioli, Hand Cut Fries. This is probably the largest portion of mussels I've ever had at a restaurant, so why it's under "Small Plates" is a mystery to me. The mussels were fresh, well washed, plump, and flavorful. The "Hard Cider and Mustard Creme" sauce was much more subtle than the name implies, which is good because I'm not a fan of either one and yet I thought the broth was fantastic. It was a tab salty to eat on it's own, but as a broth for the mussels, it was spot on. My wife raved about her dish, House Made Pappardelle with Herb Whipped Ricotta, Tomato Mushroom Ragout, Spinach, Pecan Crumble ($36). Although this is expensive for a vegetarian pasta dish, the quality of the overall dish made it worthwhile. I had to agree it was excellent with a fantastic sauce and well balanced dish. I'd also like to give a shout out for the free bread course. Excellent corn muffins came with three outstanding dipping sauces, which elevated the whole experience and shows that a bit of creativity (and generosity) can make the entire experience better. I finished the meal with a scoop of handmade chocolate ice cream ($4), which was as good as it sounded. With a bill for two under $85 (even with an $18 cocktail), I think this place was also an excellent value. read more

Another great dinner at Sawmill Bar & Table! We came here once in our past snowboarding trip, and this is the only restaurant that we revisit on this trip. The Inn itself is really charming and we love to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail by the fireplace in the dinning room. Casey at the bar made a very delicious Vanilla Fig Martini. At the diner table, we started with Cheese board with wine, on main course my Cornmeal Crusted Cod was really tasty and hubby's Grilled Hanger Steak was flavorful. We came here on Christmas Eve with a big party. The Xmas decor is beautiful and service is very friendly and attentive. We order almost all appetizers to try and they are so good and delicious. I cannot give this restaurant a good review for the following reasons, but first let me say that I have over twenty years of experience in the hospitality industry. When we entered the restaurant an odd smell hit us immediately. We sat and a young lady brought over a row of what hoped to be delicacies; clearly the trio, kept at room temperature may appeal to others but not us; they had a nauseating gelatinous and flavorless texture and the like. . The corn muffins, though a nice thought were over-mixed and tasted tough and flavorless. I ordered the corn-crusted cod which also tasted tough and flavorless. Clearly a frozen product, I could not eat chewy fish. Alongside the fish came an odd puree, much the texture of baby food that again simply did not taste good. My husband had a burger and that had its own issues. The waiter was excellent and listened quite attentively to my suggestions to make this restaurant a success. When the kitchen does not work in tandem with the front of the house chaos ensues. Out of state owners do the workers a great disservice. Such owners appoint "managers" who have little to no experience, and "chefs" who allow line cooks to prepare their recipes. Lastly, how does a restaurant mess up a salad. The beets tasted like perfume and carrots; sliced and chunks in bowl no less. It is a fine building which a rich history. Shame! Shame. As we exited no one was present to say "have a wonderful evening" and the like. Sad. Such potential. read more

On a lucky chance we were able to get a table here for our group of 9 in a private room. The moment you walk into the sawmill table you are welcomed by the most friendly people. And that would have been enough but the food and service were amazing. There is a great wine list with some great options that won't break the bank. The menu ranges from steak to cod to chicken that will just fall off the bone so tenderly. A few good salads to start as well as the "Buffalo Brussels sprouts " and the Sunday take out stir fry are all done perfectly. There are some great local cheeses to start or finish your meal. And some great cornbread with a maple butter and even a hot pepper jelly that both go so well together. This Place is just great, it will not disappoint. read more

My wife and I ordered dirty martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives. Only one came with the olives. At $23 a drink I probably should have said something but I'm not about that. We both ordered salads and thought they were very good. For entrees, we ordered off the regular menu. She had cod and I had the pork chop. Her cod was cooked nicely but was overpowered by a creamy seafood chowder it was swimming in. I think it would have been better served in a lighter broth. My chop was completely flavorless and over cooked. I had asked for medium rare and was told that they cook their pork to medium for health concerns. If you're purchasing quality meats and storing them correctly,, a medium rare pork chop shouldn't be a concern. Thank God for the apple pecan cake with vanilla ice cream. Ate here with another couple. Limited but excellent menu. Includes vegetarian choices. We had excellent cocktails pre-dinner and a nice bottle of wine with dinner from an excellent wine menu. Spouse and I had vegetarian pappardelle with tomato and herbs (excellent!), other couple had beef and chicken dishes. Superior service, relaxed and comfy atmosphere. One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. I came here New Year's Eve with my young daughters and we couldn't have had a better time. The food was all delicious- the duck entree and butternut squash soup was my favorite, and the s'mores dessert (with real toasted marshmallows) was a great way to end the meal. Our server was so kind- making my girls feel good about their special New Year's Eve outfits etc. And the ambience was so so charming- I could have sat just admiring all the woodwork and decorations all night. My hubby & I dined here this evening. We loved the warm & romantic ambiance. The restaurant Décor is rustic and modern at the same time. We were searching for a fantastic meal, and we found it. We started with the cornbread free too the table. I don't normally mention the bread, however this cornbread was so warm and fresh, I loved it! Next we enjoyed the Tortellini starter. My Italian honey thought it needed some other spice, I enjoyed it very much. For dinner, I had the half chicken, and my honey had the braised short ribs. Both of us enjoyed our meals so very much. The food was excellent! As for service, we loved our waitress; she was friendly and attentive when she got to us. However, We thought she was overwhelmed by the tables she was serving that evening. We had an early dinner. The appetizers were delicious. The duck was sliced very thin. I guess to mask the fact that it was mostly fat and skin. Before ordering the waiter Rory assured me that the hangar steak was extra tender almost like filet mignon. It was not but it was tasty. The waiter said the ganache was light and lively. It was not. it was dense, dry, and very boring. Afterward Rory said the creme on top was his fav part.. Service was good. We took a chance to just show up on a Friday night. We were staying in an Inn across the way from this place. It looked amazing on the inside and we got in without reservations! The inside was so cool. The couches, the place, the seating all perfect. Everyone was so kind. The food was delicious. We started with a cheeseboard, got to when in Vermont. So good. I had the cod and my husband had a hang steak. All perfection. Seasoning was right on. You can tell it was well made food. The next day you did not feel bloated and awful but good. We loved jt so much we went back the next night and we were not disappointed! The garden tacos, the deviled eggs were great! But the mussels omg. To die for! My husband had the barbecue pork and I had the lamb bolognese all delicious. I highly recommend this place! Also they do have rooms to rent too. They have signature Vermont cheeses to make your own charcuterie board, seafood, vegan and meat lovers options. Our hanger steak was delightful with a delectable glaze with a couple fingerling potatoes and cream corn. Since I'm not a blue cheese fan I ordered mine on the side (which my husband enjoyed!) There was about 5 dessert options, covering ice cream to chocolate lovers. The signature dessert drinks looked amazing, espresso martinis! Service: We had a new waitress in training and she was very sweet. The manager was extremely helpful with wine pairings and making sure we had exceptional service. Atmosphere: We missed this opportunity but I'd recommend arriving early to enjoy drinks in the lounge area. It's got a fire place, gorgeous couches and chandeliers! In summer time there is in door and outdoor dining options (we were unaware of that) we dined inside. The outdoor view is stunning on the property and private ponds. I came in for a friend's birthday dinner with a party of 7. We ordered a ton of food and it was all amazing, but the service was incredibly slow from beginning to end so I need to take a star away for that. When we first got there, it took 35-40 minutes just to get our drinks and place an appetizer order. Nothing really improved from there - all of our courses, drinks, desserts, and bringing the check took far too long. Luckily we weren't in a hurry so it all worked out fine but still, there's definitely room for improvement. It shouldn't take 3.5 hours to eat dinner. read more

We were there last month for our anniversary. We were very pleasantly surprised by the warm atmosphere, great service and of course the food. The farm to table menu seems to change often, maybe even daily although we will need to go back again soon to confirm that. My husband had the grilled salmon which he liked very much and I had the small plate of mussels frites which was not so small- this is plenty for a main course and it was made with a lovely grainy mustard cream sauce for which I requested some extra bread to dip. We didn't have dessert, but left there feeling well satiated. As I mentioned, we are looking forward to going back there again soon although the couple we had hoped to bring there will most definitely have difficulty with the stairs so we will need to find an alternative for their visit. read more

Went here after a long day of skiing, the staff were great and told us the story of the building when we asked. The food was fantastic, as well as the drinks. Measures were in place for covid and all precautions taken. The restaurant is cute and lightly smelled of the fire burning in the corner (in a nice way).
