This place was hopping when we went for a Sunday brunch. I like the way they handle the reservations. I signed up online and got a text when we were 5 minutes out for our table. We all ordered different types of waffles (3 choices) and swapped so we could taste them all. I got one that had sugar in the waffle itself and it was fantastic and SUPER sweet. I also had eggs which was great. Despite how busy it was, the coffee was always topped off and the service was great. My only complaint was how packed it was. It was busy and loud and high traffic. Not a great place to go for a relaxing brunch, but great if you want lots of people watching. read more

Wow! I am sooo full. The food was wonderful, service excellent, and staff friendly and accommodating. My wife ordered ham & egg scramble, Blue had the bacon avocado scramble sans bacon, and I ordered the Fried chicken bowl, substituting the buttermilk waffle for the southern. Oh yeah, Lu ordered the luscious lemon blueberry waffle "for the table." We'll all of this was way too much food for the table in spite of the fact we were pretty hungry going into it. Nonetheless everything tasted great though frankly I might be tempted to order less and share more next time! read more

I loved the French press coffee for 2! Great price at seven dollars and we pretty much got 3 1/2 cups from it. I enjoyed the blue yellow and white decor. Such a beautiful creative idea. The little aprons on the waitresses were so cute and nice shade of blue. I had a cornmeal waffle sandwich with the best slaw inside. Now that I think about it, it would go well with the side of syrup but a great place to have breakfast. read more

Amazing food they didn't skimp on the butter or quality ingredients I would suggest they top the pecan waffle off with pecans in addition to batter only. Very nice to go to a restaurant that has drinks and good food. I'm very picky and usually can find something that needs fixing. Food wise. This time it would only be the customer service. The food was great I'd suggest them if someone was looking for a great meal. As for spacing people yes I totally get that but making people wait outside in the cold and not allowing me to have a Bloody Mary or mimosa while I'm waiting outside in the cold is not good customer service. I'd also suggest maybe an outdoor heater since the expect people to wait outside for 20 min. Maybe even a table and chairs for outdoor seating. Street parking cleanliness throughout the facility and restrooms were clean. I look forward to trying more different types of waffles. Also I do feel charging a to go fee is absurd. read more

Divine goodness. I enjoyed my waffle treat. It was made on the spot and very good. The sugar isn't for everobody, but I had a cup of coffee which set it off perfectly. Service was just okay at first. I sat right at the counter, so I should have had ace service right out of the gate. There was only 1 other person sitting there, and lucky for me it wasn't busy at that moment. I heard it can be a busy waiting line with first come first serve seating. Once I sat at the bfast bar, I sort of had to force the conversation, but after a while I won the attending server over with a smile. After that it was all good. Good coffee. Clean environment. Partially open kitchen. All-in-all it was a good experience. I may never go back in there, but don't let that discourage you from going in and trying it. They have eggs and other typical breakfast foods. I don't eat bfast out that much. Its a nice place to take a friend for a morning dining experience. Family friendly. read more

I've been to Waffle Stop three times and probably won't be going back. It's a nice place with friendly servers, but far too overpriced for the quality of food. The waffles are far too sugary and just drenched in syrup (I'd recommend just getting the classic pearl sugar waffle since that doesnt have any sauces). Knowing that I dont like a lot of sugar, last time I went I got their california scramble, which was pretty good but the toast was super hard. Both me and my boyfriend had stomachaches shortly after eating, and their drinks are super sweet too. Overall, disappointing a bit lackluster in flavor for it to be $56 for two people. read more

One of my favorite brunch spots in Tacoma!! Food: I got the blue berry & lemon curd waffle with a side of bacon. The waffles are always cooked perfectly cooked; soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. I am a huge fan of lemon curd and blueberries together, but my only critique is that it was a little too sweet. I ordered the bacon to offset the sweetness - aka sweet and salty! My partner got the fried chicken and waffles. He really liked it, but he wished the fried chicken was more of a breast, leg, or thigh and not a chicken fried steak. Inside/Decor: IN LOVE with the layout and decor of the restaurant. Open kitchen, blue/yellow color theme, and dining seating. You also have to step into their bathrooms because of the cute tiles that say, "Hello Beautiful/Handsome". I definitely recommend checking out Waffle Stop! read more

A bit underwhelmed with the showstopper here. I expected the waffles to be out of this world but they underperformed. I tried the Nashville hot chicken waffle sandwich. Spoiler alert, it's not actually hot which was a bummer. The good news is that they do offer a great habanero sauce that tastes great! What I didn't like about this dish was how flavorless the chicken was. It was not spicy at all and I had to confirm with my server, Andrew, if I had received the hot version of this sandwich. The chicken was also dried out and the waffle was soggy :( I also tried the fried chicken and egg bowl. What I loved about this dish was a gravy! The gravy was so good! On the other hand, the chicken and waffles were not great. read more

I didn't personally go to the restaurant my daughter went to go pick up food so I can't speak on the ambience or the service but the food Chile, delicious. We shared a maple bacon waffle with the cookie butter it was absolutely delicious I can't wait to go back in there and try the strawberry cheesecake waffle. I'm excited to go in and check out the ambiance and the service but they need to keep cooking like they do and we will definitely be repeat customers I'm going to give it a 4 for now but I would definitely change it after I get a chance to come in for myself. read more

WOW. Where to start?! This place hands down blew my mind! me and my bf decided to try this place out for a first timer and I have to admit, I was SUPER impressed with the food, everything came out beyond what I was expecting! I don't remember 100% what I got but I remember that my plate was loaded fries or something similar, and my bf had got the sweet / spicy honey glaze chicken or something along that line. Anyways that sauce the comes with the loaded fries had me drooling for days! I don't know what they put in it...but it tastes like crack sauce to me! I was addicted and even asked for more to go when I packed up!!! Sadly, my bf wasn't a fan when it came to his dish...but that's his fault. The dish he got was a little on the sweeter side so heads up to those who gets chicken, tell them to add the syrup on the side so it wouldn't be overly sweet for you! None the less he didn't complain, he loved how crispy the chicken was! The portions is very large, love when the prices matches with the meal! The server wasn't too attentive of us, she was busy but never once walked by to check if our food was ok, even though she walked past us 3-4x since the other table had their food out... It was pretty busy so understandable but I wish she actually checked on us at least once when we got food Incase we didn't like something. But oh wells. Will definitely be back! read more

The food is actually quite bland. Especially the "regular" waffle. The taste comes from the butter and syrup. Waffles are chewy so, okay if you like that though if you like them more crisp, go elsewhere. Don't forget that, either chewy or crispy, they have little to no taste. Hash browns are consistently burned. Ask for them lightly cooked if you'd like to eat them. Portions are also very small. The male waiter who helped me was polite and appropriately dressed though pre-bussing is something they don't do here. In other words, if you order a nine-course breakfast, all of those dishes will stack up in front of you. No one will remove them until after you've left. An ill-dressed hostess paraded around the restaurant doing nothing. She could have been picking up plates and refilling coffee. The restaurant is small though the ambiance would be inviting if it wasn't so incredibly loud that a conversation with friends must be elevated which, just adds to the cacophony. All of this could easily be remedied by a savvy manager. Overall, disappointing. read more

If we are visiting Tacoma for breakfast, waffle stop is one of our favorites! The concept is spot on, with a very adorable esthetic. They pay a lot of attention to detail which you can see in the packaging and the menu and the food. My wife loves to get the southern chicken bowl, which features a super savory twist on a waffle. Today I had the special waffle, which was pumpkin cheesecake flavored. We were blown away by the sheer mass of sweet and delicious treats piled on a waffle. read more

The service has slowly declined. I've been to this establishment a couple of times. The last couple of times (4 times) the service has been bad, food has been late, drinks have been brought to us warm, not cold. Random things. Just now, we ordered food that took 50 minutes to receive. With some food being over cooked and some food being under cooked. Then multiple people received they're food and we continued to wait. Someone next to us was seated, then less than 12 minutes later they received they're food. I'm very unsatisfied with the service and or cooking of the food. read more

We are sitting at our table right now and took the waitress more than 15 minutes to 1. Give us water, and took our order and another 15 minutes to give us coffee and our hot cocoa. The chicken and egg bowl was good. I would like more gravy. The disappointment was the liege waffles. I don't think mine was cooked. My kiddo sausage was burnt on one side. We waited for more than 2 hours to be seated. My parents will not go back but I'll come back to try more items on the menu. read more

I was excited when I heard about a new waffle restaurant in town since all the waffle places I have been to in Tacoma were fantastic. Sadly, this was not the case. I am disappointed in the quality and flavor of the food. Both the Nashville Chicken and Bacon Waffles were dry and had no flavor to them unless you drench it in the syrup or gravy. Since the restaurant is charging around $15 per plate and the name of the place has "waffle" in it I would have expected the waffle to taste better. As of right now, there are other options in the area with better waffles. read more

A one-off version of IHOP, though with waffles instead of pancakes. Coffee is tasteless. My dining partner had a dish with gravy, so did I. Decided to stop by for brunch today. The wait was an hour, so I killed some time down the street at Metropolitan Market. I had time to look over the menu ahead of time and was actually excited and surprised to see Nashville Hot Chicken on it. I'd been craving it for weeks, so I decided to order the sandwich on white bread (also can come on a waffle or wheat) without coleslaw and add cheese. I subbed the regular fries for garlic parmesan fries, those were absolutely delicious and everyone else at the table couldn't get enough of them! I highly recommend the garlic parmesan fries if you go to Waffle Stop. I don't however recommend the Nashville sandwich. The chicken didn't really taste "Nashville," there was no heat to it at all, but the flavor was decent. The comeback sauce was delicious but I ordered white bread and it came on wheat. Also, the sandwich felt cold when it got to my table, almost like it had been sitting in a window waiting for the rest of my party's food. My other complaint was that the pickles weren't really pickles at all. They tasted like sliced cucumber and made the entire sandwich taste heavily of cucumbers. If you like that, then don't let it deter you! But if you're expecting pickles, you will probably be disappointed. Overall, I was disappointed with the sandwich, but the fries were delicious and the waffles looked awesome! I'll probably try something else if I come again. read more

I'm not one to write reviews, but I feel that something has to be mentioned with what just happened in my experience ordering food from this establishment. Now, I sent my girlfriend in to pick up our food we had ordered. I sent the yelp "follow along my takeout" prompt to her as my phone was going to die and I was very much so not dressed to get out of the car. Upon entering, Tyler got his food no problem when he mentioned his name. My girlfriend then asked for our order but suddenly she needs verification because people have been "stealing food." I understand. I work at a restaurant, but I sent my girlfriend the verification on the phone. I figured this was crazy when I got a call because I sent the verification. But when discussed with the employee, my girlfriend asked if she needed to see the order or go get me. She was told to go get me from the worker. Excuse me? I came in and I didn't even show the woman my phone, nothing. No verification whatsoever. I had simply walked in the building and was handed the food again with no verification. Now, for the last bit of context: the two people that didn't have any problem picking up the food? Tyler and myself? We happened to be white and my gf is black. When I asked what we could've done to have made this go smoothly, she said she needed to see proof of the order. I asked about the fact that I sent that exact thing to her phone and the woman replied "she didn't have a phone"... the very phone that was PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF THE EMPLOYEE to call me so that I may come and help get the food... I was absolutely baffled to see this happen in my face because that's literal racism!! Thanks for the mediocre food btw. read more

Went here on a busy Sunday morning. Don't know if they were under staffed, but the wait was pretty long (this is after waiting outside for 40 min just to be seated). We saw some customers who had yet to be acknowledged once they sat down. We had to flag down a waitress to take out order. We added our desserts as well so the wait wouldn't be too long after we finished our meal. The strawberry waffles were yummy. My sister's waffle fries were ok. Don't even remember what I ordered ( guess it was that forgettable). May give it another go with different dishes next time. Probably best to visit around 1 or 2 PM when it's not so busy. read more

This place was great! The food: Every dish we ordered was to die for. I had the strawberry banana nutella waffle. Oh Em Gee! My partner had a bacon avo scramble without the bacon. Its was really tasty, not your average breakfast scramble. The kids meal was already chopped into bit sided kiddo pieces and perfect for the littles. The only complaint was that the coffee was too bitter for 3/4 of our party, myself included. Splurge the extra buck and and try the latte. But I'm vege: They are super cool about suggesting vegetarian substitutions! The service: The staff were AWESOME! Best service we've had in a while. They were totally attentive while also being super laid back. The owner even stopped by the table and gave us some cookie butter to take home. The atsmophere: They have done a great job with their branding, and the decor is awesome. The acoustics made the place a bit noisy and I couldn't hear the people in my group well. This may be different at the two top tables, I'm not sure. It was also a little chilly. We will be back for sure. read more

Cute and quaint little place with super yummy food and cheerful environment. The service was great and we will return!

I'm a regular at the Proctor District but this was my very first time here. Ordered the Mini Mess Haul to go. The hash was completely unseasoned, that's fine I can add salt/pepper myself - oh except they didn't pack any. The gravy was not bad. But the egg I requested over medium was fried to a hardened over done, and my waffle was beyond edible. It tasted old and texture was hard, I liken it to when you microwave something bread-y that may be soft at first then hardens minutes later. The picture speaks for itself. They only packed a plastic fork that couldn't cut the tough waffle so I used my hand to tear it. I'm honestly surprised they'd serve this instead of tossing (it's obviously a very bad waffle), and providing a meal worth paying for. Also surprised they didn't pack the proper utensils to cut waffles. I'd expect more from such a hyped up trendy establishment. read more

Food is great. Waffles are great. Today we had 2 wake n waffles. One with the southern waffle and one with the lemon blueberry waffle, but sub in a buttermilk waffle. The pearl waffle is way too sweet to put more sweet on top. Only downside is the coffee. We got the French press for 2. We waited 5 minutes to press it. The coffee was so burnt. We choked it down.... We went to waffle stop for the first time this morning. Their service was fast & friendly. I love their contactless menu and payment. The environment was light and casual. Great breakfast spot. Fast service. Usually too crowded for my taste. The acoustics in their could use some love it is very loud when busy.

I ordered 3 different things because I'm a high maintenance eater. The server, a tall blonde intellectual guy with glasses, was very accommodating. He offered alternative milks for my coffee when I told him I wasn't able to do cream but didn't flinch when I immediately ordered the honey butter added to the pearl sugar waffle. I can tolerate small amounts of dairy and the waffle was definitely worth the splurge. The butter was super cold so unfortunately it wasn't spreadable which was disappointing, but I've worked at several places where the health department is a stickler about butter so I get it. The waffle was great though. The server was so accommodating with my many requests. ("I want this but with the topping from the other thing, but I also want these things...". I hate that I'm one of those at restaurants but I can't help it.) If this place had a vegetarian combo of a waffle hash browns, fried egg served with salsa and avocado I'd be in heaven! If there was a veggie combo I missed it. My server really was the best though because sense I don't eat meat he was kind enough to sub hash browns for the bacon in a combo instead of charging me for each thing individually. Very kind and friendly service. Really cute establishment. Someone's put a lot of thought into all the little details here. From the waffle themed wall paper in the bathroom to the little etched waffle stop logo at each table. Bottom line: Cute place, quality service, delicious. Need I say more? read more

Not only is the food and service quality still emasculate, but when asked to "break" Covid rules, they cry kindly but firmly refuse .
