Our go to place for a nice Sunday morning breakfast. It's not the newest, most modern, most fancy place, but it is family owned and run. The food is good and reasonably priced. One star is too many On Tues May 12 my husband and I went to this place for bloat We ordered cheese omelette with a side of country potatoes, his with a pancake and mine with biscuit & gravy 1. Omelettes were overlooked 2. Potatoes were obviously rewarmed and tasted old. 3 biscuit was stale and over nuked and hard We complained to the 'manager' and were told that it was the second complaint about the food that morning and she would talk to the REGULAR cook about it We had left most of the begat at table and since I had a MD appt my husband paid bill We had eaten there many times over the years We will never eat there again read more

I came to this place they have a huge banner with a special... I figured it was a good place and the food couldn't be that bad, after all how can you screw up eggs and pankakes right?. Well to start of, if you are not from Salinas and you just happen to stop in this god forsaiken town you will notice everywhere you go a very bad attitude on everyone!! It must be something on the water (Except the girls @ the AMPM in Sanborn they must drink different water) A horrible service (don't they work for tips?) Well I was seated for about ten minutes when the waitresses decided to give me some attention and gave me the menu. About 10 minutes later (two games in my phone) a different waitress comes and asks me for my order, I order tea and egs and pankakes like the spacial says on the banner outside she walks away and after about another twn minutes she comes with the smallest pot of hot water I have ever seen one tea bag (not the kind I ordered) said she forgot that Io had ordered tea... (there where only 5 people including me @ the restaurant!) She kept her conversation with the other waitress and someone else that worked there about 15 min later my plate comes out enough food to feed a midget Never asked me if I wanted a refil, coffee or something else to drink. But as soon as I was on my four bite she slamed the check on my table not the special price but full price about $14 dollars. I don't recomend places with bad service, bad food or high prices this guys have hit the trifecta!!! I want to rate this place higher because of sentimental reasons for my late grandfather and the staff has always been really nice, but their food is pretty mediocre. If you go stick more with the breakfast fare instead of the lunch menu. The bacon pecan waffle is my favorite and the enchilada omelet is surprisingly good. The waffles and pancakes are awesome. Normally i get decent service there but my last visit was far from it. I am a firm believer in ordering dishes from a place in which they advertise, thus a place called the "Waffle Shop", maybe a good sign to order the waffles. Not me! My last visit i ordered the pork chops and eggs and after my wife and kid completely finished there meals, out comes my swine and eggs, 20 minutes later! I immediately asked for it to go. If you are going to offer something on the menu, it should be able to be served in a reasonable time. The server was super nice but i probably wont return until i forget about the bad experience. Was seated quickly and came in after 1 in the afternoon and had a late breakfast. It came fresh and warm, my daughter finished her plate which was exciting. She had half a waffle and i had a regular strawberry waffle. She had an orange juice and i had coffe, the tab came out to $20.73 which to me was inexpensive and if i would have came here on a weekday my daughters meal would have been free. read more

I personally would recommended this place to all my friends and family. Great breakfast and lunch food. As we all who go there know that's when they are open. Your coffee cup is always full. For me I really enjoy coffee especially early am. Food is prepared accordingly to what you ask for. On the medium rear steak I due have a cook for this I like. That's Juan my steak comes out perfect every time. I really enjoy breakfast at the Waffle House and enjoy their 5.99 breakfast. Don't forget kids also eat free mom through friday I think. I went there because I wanted something different because i eat out a lot and as soon as i walked in i was welcomed immediately and it did not seem rehearsed or like they have to do it. The Welcome was genuine. I ordered waffles to share with my friend and i got Eggs Benedict and i have to say both items were amazing it makes me want to go there and order the same thing every time. 2.5 stars, because it's average chain diner food. Just OK as far as quality or taste. No real care in ingredients or preparation. Ellie's, First Awakenings, or Black Bear are better choices. These guys are similar to Denny's or IHOP. Wish it was a real Waffle House or Rosco's. Poor coffee and service is OK. Went there for a late breakfast and ordered the gourmet waffle which is pretty much a waffle topped with ice cream and strawberries. It was incredible. The best waffle I have ever had by far. My boyfriend got the linguisa skillet which I kept picking at because it was also incredible. Really surprised it only had two stars seeing at how much food we got, how good it was, and how great the staff was! 10/10 will recommend to friends! read more

From the time my wife and I arrived we were treated with a warm welcome and seated promptly. Our waitress Sophia and the rest of the staff worked together to make sure we had a great experience. The food was served hot and the coffee cups never went empty. This has been a great dinning experience. The prices were very reasonable. Nothing special about this place, I could have done a better breakfast at home for less than $30 for 2 people. My food (omelette) had no flavor, biscuit with gravy was nasty and dry. They messed up my daughters waffle, Waiter forgot wifes scrambled eggs and sausage, waiter went back to get it she could not find them, somebody told her to check the microwave, which made me beleave that they microwave some of their food here. We have been coming here for years for breakfast. I usually have the chicken fried steak breakfast, or might have a change of pace and have the ham, sausage or..........breakfast. I like my eggs sunny-side up "hard". It is a hit or miss proposition in this restaurant. Finally I have learned to choose over-easy. Waiters/waitresses are friendly and we have gotten to know a couple. My last breakfast here, around two weeks ago, was one of the best and the eggs were cooked to perfection. Don't know if they have a new cook or if I just happened to hit it on a good day. They do ok on the waffles, which they are obviously known for, but I have tasted better. An average "go too" restaurant if there are waiting lines at Awakenings and IHOP. read more

We sometimes have to travel from Central Coast to Bay Area. We have never chosen a place to stop and eat on our trip before, usually just stopping when we have to go to the bathroom. But now we have found a place to go to if it is breakfast time. We have now stopped at the Waffle Shop twice in our travels and have had a great experience both times!! When you're traveling you don't want to end up sitting in the car feeling queasy, right? I ordered a combination with pancake and eggs. But I ended up feeling just right after my breakfast! The pancakes were perfect- fluffy and big like I like them with plenty of butter and syrup on the side. After eating I had food leftover and my teenager had to finish it off for me! The waitress was very attentive, making sure my coffee was refilled as needed, and checking back to make sure everything was good. I had the impression of teamwork and cleanliness,I was not in the least bit concerned about that-silverware, plates, and everything clean. I found the location to be ideal for a traveler like me, very near the 101 freeway! While this restaurant is not brand new-it appears to be well maintained is very comfortable for a home cooked meal!
